Machine Head has re-signed with Roadrunner Records and will be releasing their latest CD, Through The Ashes Of Empires, in the US on April 20th, with a Spring tour to follow.

Gateway's "Beck/Smith Celebrity Gossip" (web site) reports that Kiss bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons won't make anyone's list of feminist fellows, what with his constant chauvinistic and lascivious statements. But get the veteran rocker talking about his 11-year-old daughter and the tables get turned pretty fast.
"I tell her to break the cycle. I tell her not to depend on man for a definition of who she is. I tell her not to depend on a guy for anything. When two girls are talking about a blind date, one will say, 'What does he DO?' When two guys are talking about a blind date, they don't care what your job is," he says. "It's, 'What does she look like?'" More...

Polish death metal veterans VADER have posted the following message on their official web site:
"During the recording session of VADER's new album, [drummer] Doc met with an unfortunate accident at the studio. He seriously injured his hand and leg during the third day of working at Hertz. The band has been forced to cancel the session and postpone recordings on May. Unfortunately the injuries of VADER's drummer require longer convalescence, it follows that Doc won't play the drums on the new album! The band is going to record the album at PR Studio in Gdañsk and Daray from Polish black metal band VESANIA will join the band as a session musician, taking over the drums on the new record. He will also play with VADER on band's forthcoming gigs and tours. The new album is going to be released in September. Keep your fingers crossed for both drummers, more details follow soon."
The follow-up to 2002's "Revelations", tentatively titled "Spiritual Disease", is being produced by Piotr Lukaszewski and will mark the group's final release for Metal Blade under the terms of their present contract with the label. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Out Of A Deep" and "Lead Us!"

Michael Mello of the Associated Press reports that when GREAT WHITE's pyrotechnics set a Rhode Island nightclub ablaze, killing 100 people and injuring scores of others, fire marshals across the nation scurried to review their safety inspections.
At least 15 states debated tougher laws, mostly dealing with pyrotechnics, and a national fire safety association approved more stringent safety recommendations.
But one year after the tragedy at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, only Rhode Island has enacted sweeping new fire safety measures dealing with everything from fire sprinklers to upgrading older buildings.
National fire safety experts say it could take years for many other states to follow suit.
"It's not my sense that (the Rhode Island) fire is poised to make profound change," said David Lucht, director of the Center for Firesafety Studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
