German stoner rock combo Zodiac, who released its debut demo digitally in 2011, is streaming it in full over on Bandcamp. Zodiac will be releasing this five song demo officially on May 3rd, 2012. Zodiac started when drummer Janosch Rathmer (Long Distance Calling) started jamming with guitarist Nick van Delft in 2010. Both decided that the songs that rose from their sessions had to meet the ears, so they soon joined forces with Stephan Gall (Guitar) and Robert Kahr (Bass, Organ) to form the bluesdriven, heavy and sometimes psychedelic rock-formation that came to be known as Zodiac.
Portland, Oregon act Spellcaster has checked in with the following announcement about splitting with the band's drummer:
"Got some bad news. Yesterday, our drummer Shad decided to quit the band for personal reasons. We have a tour coming up in just under 3 weeks and we DO NOT want to cancel so we need to find a drummer to fill in on the tour.
"All we ask is that you have your own gear, can learn our songs, live in or near the Portland Metropolitan area, and can tour the U.S. for two and a half weeks.
"If everyone could please share/repost this and help us spread the word, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!"
You can check out Spellcaster's music by navigating to the band's Facebook profile.
Colorado prog/sludge band Earth Burnt Black is streaming it's eight-song debut album, "Harrowing Catharsis," over on Bandcamp. Starting out in Greeley in 2009, the band performed under the name Last Tragedy until late 2010, when they became known as Earth Burnt Black.
Swiss act Voice of Ruin has issued the following press release about offering the band's debut album as a free download:
"Megaupload is fucking dead, 'illegal' downloading is killing the artists... hum. OK. But not all of them. Y'all want a proof? Voice of Ruin, Swiss t(h)rash metalcore band from Nyon & Geneva has put its debut album for free download right now!
"For the more brutal & sexual metal lovers, this album, is also available in physical and regular CD version on Heimathome Records (Helmut, Make Me A Donut, Spylown...).
"So we could write some words to give a biography... hum... but let’s be frank, NOBODY GIVES A FUCK. The public only cares about sex and money. And it’s for this reason that Voice of Ruin is brutal and sexual, and that's why the band members enjoy drinking beer."
FDA Rekotz have set March 23rd as the date on which Revel In Flesh's album "Deathevokation" will be unleashed. "Deathevokation" was mastered by Dan Swano. Below is the tracklisting and artwork for the album.

I never got to see Guns N’ Roses at the height of their "Appetite For Destruction" days or the riot filled multi-year long "Use Your Illusion" tour. Lots of reasons, lots of stories, one revolves around running a car off a highway, another was stopping at a casino; ALL ended in not having enough money (this part of my life was sponsored by Busch Light beer) or finding that all the tickets were sold out. As the years passed by, Axl and the new band spent most of their time away from the states, until recent months when Guns N’ Roses embarked on a North America tour. Now it was a matter of seeing the “new” band in a large stadium or arena. I just wasn’t feeling it. Then I heard Guns was returning to The Ritz.
Looking back, in 1988, Guns N’ Roses, by most standards were on the verge of “blowing up”, and the set list for The Ritz was mostly made up of songs from their Appetite For Destruction album. The show was recorded by MTV and was part of a Saturday Night series. To this day the performance GN’R gave that night in New York’s East Village is legendary, displaying the energy and ferociousness that would make them famous and keep pre-internet bootleggers in business for years to come.
Last month Guns N’ Roses announced they would be doing a series of club dates, three in New York City, two shows (Roseland Ballroom, Terminal 5) prior to their return to what is now named Webster Hall (formerly The Ritz.) I’ll admit initial mixed feelings and low expectations. My first thought was what time will Axl take the stage? This was a Wednesday night after all, a school night. Okay, so I’m 37 and don’t have school, but I have a job and don’t have until 2a.m. to stand around and hope Axl Rose shows up. Trepidation turned to excitement when I peeked at the set list from the Roseland Ballroom and saw that the new Guns N’ Roses opened the show with “Welcome To The Jungle”, “It’s So Easy”, and “Mr. Brownstone.” My plan was to show up around 11 and hope for a midnight start time. The organizers of the upcoming Bloodstock 2012 festival have issued the following announcement about confirming Testament:
"With a line up boasting the likes of Behemoth, Alice Cooper, Iced Earth, Sepultura, Paradise Lost, Watain, Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed and many many more, a special guest slot would have to be pretty special to be worthy of it’s special tag. With that in mind, Bloodstock Open Air is extremely proud to present Testament’s only UK show of 2012, at the very special guest slot before the Saturday night headliners at this year’s festival.
"One of the first thrash bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area, debut album 'The Legacy' put Testament at the forefront of the thrash metal scene, where they have remained for the best part of thirty years."
Says guitarist Eric Peterson: “We're excited to play the 'Bloodstock Festival' again! This time with some new material to play! Can't wait for the UK to hear our 'Dark Roots Of Earth!' See Ya!”

Ides of Gemini's new album "Constantinople" is set for North American release on May 29th, 2012 (May 28th in UK/EU), and was produced by the band, engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Skeletonwitch) at Sunset Lodge Recording in Los Angeles, and features cover art by Timms and Bennett. The band's publicist issued the following press release:
"Ides of Gemini is a collusion of musical forces precipitated by the haunting and inimitable vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms, also of Los Angeles dark-psych alchemists Black Math Horseman. The compositions are the long-simmering mental fallout of veteran music and film journalist J. Bennett (guitar/backing vocals), who has spent most of the last 14 years writing for such publications as Decibel, Terrorizer, Revolver, Alternative Press and Thrasher. The third and final corner of the triangle is Kelly Johnston, whose martial drumming techniques and soaring backing vocals literally brought Ides of Gemini to life as a performing entity.
"Last year, Timms and Bennett recorded and self-released Ides of Gemini's four-song EP, The Disruption Writ, which was anointed 'My Favorite Demo of 2010' by the highly influential music blog Invisible Oranges. Lyrically, the songs detailed the terrifying permanence of dismemberment in all its unsettling forms: psychological, emotional and physical. Musically, though? Someone on the Internet called it 'dream doom.' Nobody likes to be pigeonholed, but Ides of Gemini will gladly take up temporary residence in that particular nook for the sake of shorthand. Which is to say that 'dream doom' will do the trick for now. And now is nothing if not fleeting. Mostly because Ides of Gemini are about to unveil their full-length debut, Constantinople, via Neurot Recordings." More...

Avant-garde black metal duo Formloff is set to unearth a new work of audio grimness entitled "Spyhorelandet," the follow up to 2006’s "Adjø Silo." The new release finds the eclectic Norwegian duo — Bernt Karsten Sannerud and Marius Sjøli – exploring the darker, more atmospheric realms of their past. Several session musicians were recruited to complete the nine-track recording, including two bass players, a drummer and a saxophonist. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Where most black metal revels in stories of fictional deities, benign and malignant, Spyhorelandet wallows in everyday themes. Much like the cover art, the music contained within bears the stark truth: When you peel back the skin, no matter how beautiful, what is left is the ugly personal histories each of us carries. Throughout Spyhorelandet, naked inhabitants of our world are quoted directly. For many, defeat is their best and sometimes only asset."
In celebration of the record’s upcoming release, Decibel Magazine is currently streaming the title track, “Spyhorelandet,” noting “the track definitely sounds refreshing, as if gulping down fresh glacial streams after a half-decade of parched post-whatever, atavistic too-true-for-school black, or the floating-on-toilet bowl-water bullshit employed by the high-lo mind/musically daft of Liturgy, et al.” Feast your ears here.
