California thrashers Defiance have announced they have recruited Burton Ortega as their new drummer. The band also commented on the line-up change:
"After struggling with who should be the next drummer for Defiance and having the wrong drummer in place for one show. Defiance has found a bay area gem. Burton comes from a traditional thrash metal background, playing for years with bay area thrashers Kaos, came in and delivered the goods. We were looking for that fifth finger to fill the glove which was something that we felt was essential for a long term fit. We are very excited about Burton joining Defiance and have had so much fun jamming the old and new tunes and can't wait to unleash the new monster that is Defiance."
Hellbastard has issued the following update about recruiting a new drummer:
"Yet again, with the sticks dept. still fresh from the Icelandic heidearsson that graced the Hellbastard way of life, comes Mr. Michael Jordan Brush, A UK local, to the throne of HB. Hellbastard are 'relieved' and 'extremely happy' to have found a replacement in Mr. Brush, he is a machine. The thanks (shared from the whole band) go to the one and only - The Meads of Asphodel - for hooking us up with Mr. Michael Jordan Brush without whom it would not have been in anyway possible. Hail Michael Brush, Hail the Meads of Asphodel."
U.K. death metallers Ignominious Incarceration have issued the following statement about writing a new album:

Stay tuned and see you in da pit."
You can also hear sample Ignominious Incarceration tracks at the band's official MySpace page.
Autumns Eyes has issued the following recording update:
"After a long and tedious process of rhythm guitar tracking, I have finally moved on to bass guitars. The single most important foundation of a song recording is the rhythm section, mainly drums and bass. This is the backbone to any kind of melody you lay over top of it, and will solidify the listeners decision to continue listening or stop and move on to the next song. I'm putting a lot of effort and detailed attention into the recording of bass guitars."
"A lot of metal bands or solo musicians who attempt to record the bass on their own treat it as just a 'big guitar' that can get by with only playing the root notes to the power chords their rhythm guitars are playing. I want the bass to be it’s own individual instrument, that when required can blend with the power of the kick drum and deliver that sonic punch in the gut that a good heavy song should have. Im using my usual Yamaha RBX 765a 5-String on this recording simply because I love the feel of it, and it has active pickups that give the recording a good kick in the ass." More...

We are optimistic on this process to flow in a quick, productive way, so we can be able to have some news for you soon...as we really want to keep you all around.
"Of course, we have to take our time to thank Carlos for his big effort and commitment to the project since the very beginning, as we wish him the best in this new life he's just starting as well. We hope you'll be hearing from us soon and we are already counting on your support from the distance. More...

Sweden's Descend has issued the following post-tour recap:
"Eeeey! We just came back from the Grave New Finland-tour that we were on with our friends Soulfallen and Preach. And it was.. how could I put this delicate? AWESOME! The venues we played at had great sound technicians and big scenes. I mean, these last few days rocked our worlds and we really got an appetite for this thing called touring. And we're really eager to do it again.
"Now that we're back we got (yes, I'm always talking for the others as well) a lot of inspiration to write new material. We will probably go to Andreas cabin next month and have a little writing session involving a good time, writing and beer. Thank you guys in Soulfallen for everything!"
We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week guitarist Carl Porcaro of New York hardcore act Killing Time shares a tale of losing limbs:
"I’ve seen a lot of crazy shit but some of the craziest shit I’ve seen has been with our own band. A lot of people don’t remember this but our singer (Anthony Comunale) used to have a trick arm and it would come flying out of the socket. We’d be playing songs and kids from the crowd or our road guys would take his arm and try to put it back in the socket and he’s screaming while this is going on. That happened very close to me at shows and I got a great view of it. There was one time where he came running down the stairs when we were playing this show and he says 'What’s up, this is Killing Time!' But then he goes flying over the monitor and hits the barrier they’ve put up so people don’t stage dive. He busts his arm out of the socket all of 15 seconds into the show."
"Funnily enough one time his arm came out of the socket during the first song and no matter how many people tried to help him he could not get it back in and was rushed to the hospital. We finished the set with all the kids in the audience singing led by our buddy cwolf who became our bass player 10 years later."
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the pit.

Inside Out: You guys are no doubt already in writing mode for the next album?
Gregoletto: Well, we’ve been writing and rehearsing a couple of new songs in our normal rehearsals, its well on the way! We are moving very quickly with it, we are going to write and record way over an albums worth of material. We are going to do way more than we have to so if games, movies or TV shows come up we will have new exclusive music for them. We will probably record in the summer… I think that’s the goal."
