California gore/death metal band Exhumed cancelled show dates in Brazil this week with Aborted, due to unforeseen visa issues..
Vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey commented on the cancellation:
We are totally weakened to have to cancel our Brazilian dates. Due to our visa applications getting rejected, we cannot legally enter the country at this time -- in fact, they threatened to ban us from being there for a decade. We are doing everything we can to reschedule these dates as soon as possible. Due to the bullshit policies of U.S. immigration/customs and Brazilian customs' policy of reciprocity, our visas were refused by the Brazilian consulate before even being processed. We seriously and very sincerely apologize to all our friends in Brazil who wanted to see the band. We will do everything in our power to work with our agent, the promoter, and the immigration assholes in the U.S. and Brazil to get this squared away. This is a serious bummer. We will spend the extra week before heading to Europe looking at hot Brazilian chicks on the Internet instead of in real life and being really, really pissed off.”
Exhumed will kick off the 16-date "Grind Over Europe Tour" with Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind on February 24 and then head over to join Anaal Nathrakh for a short run of dates in the United Kingdom. From there, the band will head to the U.S. for a month-long U.S. tour with death metal icons Cannibal Corpse along with Abysmal Dawn and Arkaik. More...

We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited - with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below*), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte.More...

A Polish TV report was recently posted about former Decapitated singer Adrian "Covan" Kowanek's medical condition. On October 29, 2007, Decapitated's tour van crashed while on tour in Russia, which left drummer Witek dead and Covan severely injured (See Metal Underground's report here and here).
After a reportedly "successful" neo-surgical procedure, a 36 hour pharmacological coma ended with Covan suffering a cardiac arrest and defused cerebral hypoxia due to medical negligence. Covan returned home after another six months of treatment in October 2008. Since then, Covan has made vast improvements, but still is unable to communicate and care for himself and requires 24 hour care.
The following TV report is in Polish, but English subtitles are available by clicking the "CC" button below the video's progress bar: More...

Germany's Noneuclid will present itself in a new incarnation this coming Sunday in the band's home town of Landshut, supporting Dark Fortress and Diabolus Dust after singer Bruce amicably quit the band recently. The band will continue as a compact four-piece - guitarist Morean will take over vocal duties as well from now on.
"We tried different candidates, and my band mates encouraged me to try out for the part myself. Even though for me it is the next big challenge in this band, since my guitar parts and the vocals rarely have anything to do with each other - they hardly ever take place in the same key, rhythm or, at times, even tempo -, I am honoured and excited to continue Bruce's heritage in this band, and we are ready to open the next chapter. Stretching our brains to the utmost to play our complex and at times insane music has always been the modus operandi for us, so in that sense nothing's changing."
The band also added:
"We want to thank Bruce for the years of pleasure and madness we had together, for being a trooper and a good friend, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
"The band is taking on the future head-on; besides expanding the symphonic repertoire, as they did in 2008 with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra and recently with Orchester des 13.Tons in Germany, plans for a club tour later this year are currently in the making."
New York's Biohazard posted new footage from the band's tour of Europe. The latest video from the Persistence Tour is from London, U.K. The band previously posted footage from Vienna, Austria which can be seen by heading over to this location.

Dutch symphonic metal band Delain announced that guitarist Timo Somers will sit out the band's upcoming European tour due to other obligations. The band recruited former After Forever guitarist Bas Maas as a guest for the tour.
The band posted the following update about the situation:
Recently there have been some developments at the guitar department of Delain. Our band demands a huge amount of time and energy from our band members. Since our guitar player Timo has a lot of musical activities besides Delain, we want to give him the time and space to pursue this as well. Until now that was not possible, but recently we received a huge reinforcement in the band. Guitarist Bas Maas is joining in our group to relief Timo for some shows this year. Some of you may know Bas from Doro or his previous band After Forever. We want to give Bas a warm welcome in Delain. He will join us at our European tour, and a couple shows this spring. See you all on the road!

"Our dear friend and band mate, "Otus" Tonmi Lillman, has sadly passed away. He will be greatly missed and we send our condolences to his family and friends.
"Otus: we thank You from the bottom of our hearts for the short time we got to know you and spend with you together.
