We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week our Pit Story comes from Alex Oden of Black Epiphany and Mortiferous Scorn. Alex shared the following tale of fans taking the party just a bit too far at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha:
I think the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in concert was at this club in Omaha called the Ranch Bowl. I’m on stage and I look up and there were kids jumping on stage running around and diving off. At one point there must have been ten or fifteen kids on stage running into us and everything on stage.
I had to guard my amp and guitars from them while still trying to play music. Finally some security got up there and started getting the majority of the fans off the stage. Then towards the end of that same show I looked out into the middle of the mosh pit and see a guy hanging from the rafters on the ceiling. The Ranch Bowl in Omaha was by far my favorite place to play.
Black Epiphany is currently in the process of recording a new full-length album. You can also download the band's "Mocking the Dead" album for free at this location. Alex Oden also recently conducted an interview with Metalunderground.com, which can be found here.
Be sure to check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

Spanish death metal act Avulsed has issued the following update about the band's plans for its 20th anniversary:
"2011 is the year! The year of the 20th anniversary of Avulsed, the most constant & veteran death metal band from Spain, formed back in August 1991, being the most active live band not only within Spain, but also around the world (4 Euro-tours, Russia, USA, Japan, Mexico, South & Central America...), always carrying the flag of the most genuine death metal. Having spawned 5 full length albums, 3 demos, 2 EP's and other releases making a total of 10 CD's & a DVD, the band feels stronger than ever and of course ready to prepare something special to commemorate these 20 years surviving trends & fashions and never wimping out!
"During the 1st half of 2011, a total of 18 songs taken from all their albums, will be re-recorded for a CD entitled 'Fleshcube.' Instead of just doing a compilation with the original recordings (that would be too easy & cheap), the band decided to re-record all these songs with the current line-up, the current guitar sound (way heavier than before), their current drummer (who has empowered the playing of the songs) and in general, the usual modifications that each song suffers after being played for years and years. In resume, it'll be an album with only the best songs of the band. No fillers, just classics! A special limited edition will be released, most probably a box containing a double CD, exclusive shirt, stickers, photos and other goodies, limited to the first ones to come, but it's still undecided how it'll be. We'll keep you informed!
"Needless to say that Avulsed will be presenting 'Fleshcube' after its release, planned sometime after summer, playing all these killer songs, while still working on the composition of new tunes for their 6th full length album tentatively to be recorded in 2012 with the working title of 'Ritual Zombi,' a title written in Spanish, but perfectly understandable in English too, which not only in tribute to Death, of course, but also will serve to introduce the zombie element into Avulsed's lyrics to make them not just brutal, gore & macabre, but fucking horrifying as well.
"Also, 2011 means the first agreement ever made between Avulsed and a management. Stigia Promotions & Management will handled, from now on, all negotiations regarding shows & tours for the band, so if anyone is interested in booking Avulsed on their city or festival, please, get in touch directly with: firstname.lastname@example.org More...

Greyhaze Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Brazil's Desalmado:
"Greyhaze Records is proud to announce the signing of Brazilian grindcore band Desalmado into its roster. The signing involves the worldwide vinyl release of their well-acclaimed debut EP 'Hereditas' as well as the release of a full-length album. The upcoming LP features a guest appearance by Marcus D’Angelo of Claustrofobia. These will be Desalmado’s first releases outside of their home country of Brazil and will take place in the spring and summer, respectively. More news regarding titles, artwork, and track listings will be revealed soon.
"Formed in 2004 under the name of El Fuego, the band has always been very active, playing gigs throughout Sao Paulo and surrounding cities. From its very inception, Desalmado took on a solid approach towards grindcore, but at the same time not being tied to any single musical style. In 2005 the group put out its first demo which led to the release of its 2006 self-titled debut album. Despite being a simple production, the album was very well received by fans in the local scene and beyond. Only 200 copies were made and the album is currently out of print. In 2008 Desalmado released its highly anticipated ‘Hereditas,’ EP which was recorded by the current lineup.
"Desalmado is now putting the finishing touches on their upcoming full length album. There are also plans for solid touring in Brazil, USA, and Europe."
Says guitarist Bruno Leandro: “We’re totally stoked with our partnership with Greyhaze. Above all, we wanted to work with a label that respected our music and opinions. We achieved that with Greyhaze and are working together on our first official release.”

Kataklysm has begun the process of putting together elements for the band's upcoming 20th anniversary DVD. Titled "The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined," this documentary will begin with the band’s inception in 1991 and tell the story behind Kataklysm's history. Director & producer Tommy Jones (Lamb Of God, Soilwork, Death Angel) will catch the band’s heartbeat on the road and to put the memories together. Expected release date is Spring 2011.
The DVD will also include interviews with a wide range of characters, including the band’s first front man Sylvain Houde, who sang on the first three Katakalysm albums. A single and a video clip for the title track “The Iron Will” will be recorded this summer. The massive content of the DVD will include Kataklysm’s upcoming headlining show at Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany.
Front man Maurizio Iacono shares:
"This is something that we are doing first for ourselves to look back at the long and hard road traveled and to be grateful that twenty years later, this band is stronger than ever and still means something in the music world. It’s an accomplishment to exist this long and this DVD is dedicated to our fans who solely kept us alive in this destructive and turbulent scene. I decided to scrap my book idea (it was taking way too long and time is of the essence) and instead tell our story on The Iron Will in detail to get things off my chest once and for all. We’ve been the underdogs for so long and looking back, this is a good a place to be."

Ava Inferi has posted a music video online for the song "Majesty," which can be viewed below. “Finally the first clip from 'Onyx' is ready!" mastermind Rune Eriksen comments. “It was indeed an inspiring process to be a part of, and once again Costin (Chioreanu, camera/director/editor) did an amazing job to capture these essences unto film. I believe that the mysterious surroundings and the heavy atmosphere on the locations did wonders to the feeling and the vibe of the video too. It was almost like something greater was with us those days in early February. Something which guided us and gave us the inspiration we needed. All in true, vintage Hammer fashion.
"I would like to extend a deep gratitude to those who did their share for this filming to go on as planned: Valeriu Catalineanu, Corina Craja, Vlad Lordache, Florin Ene, Alexandru Barbulescu, Andy Ionescu & Ghita Adrian. They all worked hard for this video to unfold the way it did. Last, but certainly not least, a very special salute goes to Mr. Costin Chioreanu & Twilight13 Media, who did an amazing job during the events, and whose dedication, determination and hard work resulted in something truly special (again). We are eternally grateful! From the deep wintry forests of Samurcasi and the haunted ruins of Chiajna Monastery, 'Majesty' is hereby presented."
Director Costin adds: “For me, to make 'Majesty' was a real challenge. But when you have really special artists to work with, the true art reveals. It's by far the most intense video I ever made, spiritually speaking. And that was mostly caused by the intense sharing of artistic thoughts and visions between Rune, Carmen and me and my crew. It was a deep chemistry there, and that is the best air for an artist to breathe."

We were promised that we would be fine two weeks ago, but still all the members were not got their stuff. We all tried everything to make it happen, so it’s a terrible situation. We were waiting, sharp and ready to rumble and kick serious ass, but couldn’t do anything.
"The USA immigration forms are approved so now we have new visa interviews at the USA embassy in Vienna at the beginning of next week. Now we have re-schedule the flights to make it happen. We will now start the tour in Chicago, IL at Reggie’s on the 26th. We want to apologize to the demons and everyone who's bought a ticket to see us tear the stage with Deicide. See you in Chicago!”
