Seventh Rule Recordings is pleased to release the vinyl version of "Stream From The Heavens," the long lost debut from now-defunct Finnish funeral doom masters, Thergothon. The following press release was issued about the pending vinyl drop:
"Among the most vital bands of the doom metal movement, Thergothon foreshadowed the epic appearance of the funeral doom subgenre long before their time. Initially formed as a brutal death metal act in 1990 in Turku, Finland by Niko 'Skorpio' Sirkiä (vocals, synthesizers/keyboards), Jori Sjöroos (drums) and Mikko Ruotsalainen (guitar), a stylistic shift to a more original sound found the trio detuning their instruments and slowing down tempos consequently crushing the souls of non-believers.
"The band's short activity however only allowed for the spawning of a single studio offering. Released in 1994 via Avantgarde Music, the band’s Stream From The Heavens full-length influenced countless bands (see the great Evoken) despite its cult, hard-to-find status.
"Seventh Rule’s reissue of this long out-of-print debut, back into existence. Lacquer creation was executed by John Golden perfectly retaining the original sonic dynamics of the release. The original art and layout has been revisited by Niko Skorpio with the original negatives scanned for artwork and packaged in a beautiful full color Tip-on Board gatefold, this release is strictly limited to 500 copies: 100 copies on 180-gram orange vinyl and 400 on 180-gram black vinyl. Preorders are currently available at this location. More...

Brisbane's Brazen Bull has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with bassist Adam Taylor:
"It brings us great sadness to announce that Adam Taylor our bass player and close friend has decided to retire from the brazen bull project.
"Adam has been with us from the start and has contributed a great deal in all aspects of the band. He will still be playing the next couple of shows with us and at this stage we won't be cancelling future bookings.
"Brazen Bull will however be continuing on and have gotten stuck into writing the next EP, and we will also be beginning try outs for a replacement shortly... in the mean time we thank Adam and wish him all the best for the future."

Following the release of the bludgeoning "Expendable Humans" LP -- out early 2012 via the band’s own Gorilla The Horse Records -- and a rash of regional live assaults surrounding its release, Vise Massacre has revamped the lineup and this week publicly declare war for 2013.
Percussion combatant Keith Abrami, also of Long Island’s technical black/death/space metallers Artificial Brain, now joins the VM lineup, rounded out by bassist/vocalist Chris Vezza and founding guitarist/vocalist Rich Muller. This new incarnation’s first live excursion comes this Sunday, February 17th at Brooklyn watering hole Saint Vitus.

Bay Area thrash metal legends Testament, who are currently touring the U.S. with Overkill and Flotsam and Jetsam, will record their show at The Paramount in Huntington, NY this Friday February the 15th for an upcoming DVD/CD release.
The band is calling on fans attending this event to make this the craziest Testament show ever caught on camera.
“We haven’t shot a live DVD or CD since our Live in London release and we’ve had two killer albums since then,” commented vocalist Chuck Billy. “We thought it would be cool to put out a live DVD/CD focusing on the last three records (The Gathering, The Formation of Damnation and Dark Roots of Earth) mixed in with a good amount of classics too. Last time we recorded anything live in America was for Live at the Fillmore on the West Coast. This time we thought we’d give the East Coast a chance to show the world how crazy and loud they can be. We’re going to be playing an extra-long 17 - 18 song set, which will be our lengthiest set of the tour. Let’s see all you thrashers stirring it up out there and singing along! See ya!”
This special DVD/CD release is expected later this year via Nuclear Blast Records. In other news, Testament took home our "Best Album of 2012" award with latest album "Dark Roots of Earth."

Nails has teamed up with Terrorizer to stream the song "Wide Open Wound," which can be heard below or at Terrorizer.com here. The following press release was also issued about the track:
"Let's get straight to the point - if NAILS' new record Abandon All Life is a howling war cry, then the track 'Wide Open Wound' is the battle. Replete with bludgeoning beatdowns, grinding blasts, hyper-distorted vocals, hard-hitting metallic chugs and early death metal riffs, rage intensifies to a climatic end where the guitars wail and militant drum breakdowns send us marching. Clocking in at 3:37, 'Wide Open Wound' is an absolute epic for NAILS and it accentuates just how dynamic Abandon All Life really is.
"Recorded at Godcity with Kurt Ballou (Converge) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise). 'Abandon All Life' will drop in North America via Southern Lord on March 19th."
With tour plans already coming together to support "Abandon All Life," Nails has locked down a brutal run through the upper Midwest into Canada and down the East Coast at the end of April and beginning of May. Dates are available below. More...
