“I can hear the thumping low end of Britney Spears,” Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, prepping for his own tour, told the Sydney Morning Herald. “It’s been a treat having them here the whole time we’ve been here.”

Osbourne and his family return to the small screen this spring on "The Osbournes: Reloaded," a new variety show on Fox.
Devildriver bassist Jon Miller has posted an update with reactions to the new album. Here's what he had to say:
"Hi guys and gals, it is 7:45am and I'm sitting at an airport hotel in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I just visited my girl on her first week of the Mudvayne tour (which is absolutely killer) and now I am waiting to catch a flight to meet my dad in Vegas for a couple of days to hang out. I return to Santa Barbara on Friday the 13th to practice with the band for a couple of days and then it is DOWN UNDER for DevilDriver. I always look forward to travelling to Australia. It is an experience like no other to visit one of the shark attack capitals of the world.
"Oh, and just to fill you in......the fourth DevilDriver studio album is on the threshold of completion. It is downright fucking nasty.......the best shit we have ever done....I am super proud of this one. We have spent the last 18 months writing it and fine tuning every note. It is definitely something fresh for the listeners ears. We are pulling some moves that we have never pulled before on a record. DevilDriver has gone to a place where we needed to go on this one......stay tuned."
The Exalted Piledriver has issued the following statement about playing at the 2009 Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany:
"It gives us great pleasure in our pants to announce that we will be returning to Europe next summer with our "UNSUCK THE CONTINENT TOUR" in support of our new album "METAL MANIFESTO". We have our first confirmed festival date: HEADBANGER'S OPEN AIR!!!
"There are many awesome bands on this bill including our metal-bro's RAZOR, the ever- powerful ENFORCER, the stunning JACOBS DREAM horde, the freakin' RODS!, the influential Tankard, the pounding Manilla Road, and classics Helstar and Angel Witch amongst other incredible bands. . . and it is our esteemed honour to share the stage with all of 'em!
"We'll keep you posted when we discover which day and time we'll be on at HOA, and continuing updates as we receive more date confirmations to post for our 'UnSuck The Continent' EuroTour '09."
Zimmers Hole guitarist Jed Simon has posted the following blog on the band's MySpace page regarding the death of former guitarist Chris Stanley:
"I don't know where or how to start...other than to say we are all deeply saddened at the loss of one of our own, Chris Stanley.
"Chris is a Zimmers Hole alumni, he played guitar for us during the 'Legion Of Flames' era, and more zany moments occurred when he was around than I care to try and remember.
"He has had a long battle with the many complications, and the day-to-day life battles with Cystic Fibrosis, Pneumonia (many times), a double lung transplant and the myriad of issues that arise with that. He has battled back so many times, and it just crushes our hearts that he couldn't pull through this time.
"Here are some words from me...I know the other guys will agree with me on all this stuff. They may want to write their own thoughts in the coming days.
"With unbelievable sadness, we've lost another soldier.
"Chris Stanley, fuck...as I type this it all seems too unreal to me, but I know better. It's going to hurt even more, soon.
"Chris has been a friend to me for over 20 years. He's been a friend, a mentor, and a peer. He was one talented motherfucker, that's for sure. Add to that, funny--that guy could get a crowd onto a frenzy of laughter...a certain moment from the Dynamo festival and Chris acting a little too retarded comes to mind.
Add to that, whipcrackin' smart...he KNEW shit.
"What he has left is a legacy of music, laughter, artwork and special effects, movie props, funny pictures, not funny pictures, nuns running scared everywhere, and more stuff than I could ever get into here. But it's all in my head, and it will all never be forgotten. I MISS YOU SO MUCH ALREADY CHRIS.
"To Scarlet, his wife, and to all of his family, my condolences...I know how much he meant to me, I can't begin to imagine how much he meant to you. All my love.
"My trusty old Gibson flying V has your flames on it...they will always be there bro...and every time I look at that guitar (as I am right now), or pick it up and hammer the fuck out of it, you are with me Chris.
"With Horns Higher than I've ever Held them, I love ya man. We all fuckin love ya man. Wherever you go from here brother, I know that you will raise the bar, and a few eyebrows...heavenly or otherwise."

Norwegian industrial band Mortiis has issued the following statement about an upcoming studio album:
"Forget what you think you know about Mortiis. Dismiss any image that immediately comes to mind when you think of both the band and its multitalented leader. Let go of any impression you may have. Start over with a clean slate. That is exactly what Mortiis has done.
"Mortiis’s The Great Deceiver is not the result of a rebirth, an evolution, or a metamorphosis. This great new album does not mark a new chapter in the band’s growing musical legacy. It is much more. The Great Deceiver is Mortiis’s greatest and most comprehensive effort to date. More...

"Hey guys, We want to express a sincere thanks to everybody who showed up at Pavillionen at Grenå.
"Unfortunately we had to cut the show three songs before the planned ending because someone in the audience could't keep his hands off Pete's pedal board, so the last two songs were a complete mess.
"We're sorry about this for the people who payed to see the show and promise we'll make it up at our next appearance.
"And a big "fuck you!" to the guys who find it a good idea to mess up a show we've spent a lot of time and travel to prepare."
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted a tour report online as the band touch down in Britain as part of the "Priest Feast" tour. You can check it out below:
"Well, we are back on English soil, and our British tour manager got out of the bus yesterday morning and kissed the ground, and I asked him if he did, and he said, 'It’s been eight years since I have been on English soil.' I thought that was killer, except it was snowing and he had to stick his face into the slushy street slop to kiss the ground.
"I remember seeing the Pope do that once and I thought surely that has gotta burn, when he kissed the tarmac on an airstrip in a trip over to the states many years ago.
"Anyway, Chris (Broderick) and I were at dinner last night and we finally saw one of the Judas Priest guys, but he was with his family, maybe siblings or friends, and we decided not to bother him. So we just sat and eat red meat, and talked about guitars! More...
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee recently spoke with SuicideGirls.com about a variety of subjects including his recent run in with the law. Some excerpts are as follows:
Suicidegirls.com: I heard you had a rather scary incident recently in a helicopter. Can you tell me about that?
TL: "Oh! [laughs] No, there was nothing scary about it. Mötley Crüe did a show in Palm Springs, out in the desert, and we were flying the helicopter back. This house was on fire about 30 minutes outside of Van Nuys airport, where we were going to land. So there was this house on fire, you could see all this smoke coming up. And I said, 'Fuck! Let's go over there and check it out.' We flew close to the house to check it out, and apparently we got into the police's airspace. But we were so far away from them. I still don't understand. Like, there was no way we that close."
Suicidegirls.com: So you caused a minor emergency with the police department?
TL: "Yeah, well, they followed us to where we were landing. We were going to land at my house, but we were running out of fuel, so we landed at the airport to get some fuel. And then we just decided, let's get out and we'll just drive home. So we were on the ground, and I had in my backpack a bottle of vodka mixed with lemonade, right. As soon as we landed my pilot, Dave, said, 'Hey! Where's that vodka?' I grabbed it, and he takes two big giant sips straight out of the vodka bottle. Right when he was drinking it the cops walked out and said, 'Who's the pilot of that helicopter?' And he's like, 'That would be me.' So they thought he was drinking. But he doesn't drink and fly – ever. That's stupid. So that's what the whole deal was. They gave him a sobriety test and all that. He's like, 'Guys, I just had two shots of vodka after we landed, now it's a little late to be testing me, do you know what I mean?' So that was it. No big deal."
Suicidegirls.com: But that's typical of you. You get into trouble without trying to, without doing anything wrong.
TL: "I know." [laughs]

Southern Lord Records has issued the following update about the upcoming album from Sunn O))):
"SUNN O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled Monoliths & Dimensions. The album showcases the core guitar duo - Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson - incorporating influences from a plethora of guest musicians, bringing the SUNN O))) sound to epic new levels. The band also collaborated with composer Eyvind Kang (notable for his work with John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, etc.) on various acoustic ensembles, in addition to the Helios fueled electric guitars and basses. Key players on the album include Australian guitar genius Oren Ambarchi, enigmatic Hungarian vocalist Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Tormentor, etc.) and slow music godfather Dylan Carlson (Earth), as well as Julian Priester (worked with Sun Ra in the 50s, John Coltrane’s African Brass band, and Herbie Hancock’s Sextant band) and new-music horn player Stuart Dempster. There’s also an upright bass trio, French & English horns, harp & flute duo, piano, brass, reed & strings ensembles, and a Viennese woman’s choir led by Persian vocal savant Jessika Kenney.
"The album is not “SUNN O))) with strings” or “metal meets orchestra” material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful and not entirely linear, stating that the end product is “the most musical piece we’ve done, and also the heaviest, powerful and most abstract set of chords we’ve laid to tape” The album was recorded and mixed by Randall Dunn & Mell Dettmer at various points over the last 2 years, and will be released late May 2008. Monoliths & Dimensions is practice in density, gravity and momentum."
Monoliths & Dimensions track listing:
Big Church [megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért] (09:43)
Hunting & Gathering (Cydonia) (10:02)
Reunited hardcore legends Biohazard has announced that they will be teaming up with Suicidal Tendencies for a show at the Hollywood Palladium on March 28th. More details will be revealed nearer the time and there is no word yet if this will result in a full tour with both bands.
Rolling Stone reports:
Slipknot, the Iowa-based nine-piece masked metal band entering its tenth year on the national stage, has just been announced as one of the headliners of Columbus, Ohio’s Rock on the Range Festival. The third annual fest — which also features Motley Crue, Alice in Chains and Korn — goes down May 17th and 18th. But right now, Slipknot are in the midst of their biggest American tour to date, including a massive gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The arena tour — with Coheed and Cambria and Trivium in tow — comes on the heels of last year’s "All Hope is Gone," the band’s first Number One album, a victory that almost didn’t happen.
Initial reports from SoundScan put rapper the Game’s "LAX" in the top spot by a margin of 13 albums, but after a recount the positions were reversed, with Slipknot taking it by over 1,100 units. And it’s a near-slight that still drives the band nuts, even six months later.
"Any time we get something, it’s almost like we had to steal the fucking thing," frontman Corey Taylor tells Rolling Stone. "We had to fight for that, in true Slipknot fashion. They didn’t want to just fucking respect us and wait until all the fucking numbers were in. They were like, 'No, you didn't have it — you got beat by 13 CDs.' We've come so fucking close so many goddamn times, and this was our time."
Percussionist and band mastermind Shawn "Clown" Crahan is still plenty hacked off that the band he created came so close to having its moment in the sun taken away. "This is no disrespect to the Game, we don't know him, and it could have been anyone, but they're upset that they lost?" he said. "You want to talk about upset, you want to talk about disrespect for sacrifice? Everyone has tried to keep our ideas, our dreams, our art, down, and there was no reason for that, because our art is love, too."
For Taylor, taking the top spot is the ultimate middle finger to an industry he feels holds his band in disdain, and the victory and continued success is only made sweeter by the odds his band has overcome.
"I truly believe that every time we win, it just makes so many people angry," he said. "Right out of the gate, we should not have been successful. We were a nine-piece metal band from Iowa wearing masks and doing this insane shit, but we were talented and we were lucky, and we went out and built this following. For us, this is a legacy."
