TREPONEM PAL release their new album 'Weird machine' to LISTENABLE records in Europe on the 24th of March.
With several cult albums critically and internationally acclaimed under its belt, a pioneer's career and various punchy collaborations (Young Gods, Nine Inch Nails, Prong, Ministry, Faith No More...), the Parisian precursor of groovy industrial-metal carbonizes the record industry with a new lp mixed with napalm. Recorded in Geneva, produced by David Weber and written by Marco Neves (vocals, development), Didier B. (keyboards, samplers), Polak (guitars) and the late Paul Raven (eminent bass player of Killing Joke, Godflesh, Pigface, Murder Inc ., Prong, Ministry), the ballistic missile plans to collide our boomers in April 2008.
Industrially toxic, metallic, electronic, ethnic, electric, psychedelic, hypnotic and always more eclectic, Treponem Pal signs with this noxious "Weird Machine" a proper declaration of war. A urban time bomb of a manifesto, pure weapon of massive destruction and distraction seriously dangerous and open minded. A sonic stream roller to check on stage during the European tour, already planned this year.

Deathwish Inc./Malfunction Records has officially purchased the Perfect Victim Records catalog. Here's the official word from Deathwish:
"Our old pal Mike from Stab & Kill/Perfect Victim, decided to cease operations of the label some time ago. Well, we are here to fix that. Deathwish has officially acquired the Perfect Victim Records existing catalog. Deathwish now carries all of these titles exclusively in the DW Estore. You can also find Perfect Victim titles in retail stores through our friends at Revelation Distribution. So yeah, Deathwish, Malfunction, and Perfect Victim are now one label family."

Michel Langevin (Away) and Denis Belanger (Snake) will track the last songs this spring bringing all the past and present members together to participate in a homage to the guitar legend of Piggy and the legacy of 25 years of a brotherhood forged by exploring metal, rock and punk ethics with an other worldly premise.

A five-minute interview Finland's Sub TV conducted with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine on February 4, 2008 prior to the band's Helsinki concert can be viewed below.
During the interview Mustaine was asked for his opinion on "heavy metal" becoming "mainstream" again after being "gone" for 10 years in the Nineties. "Certainly, I appreciate it, because being in a metal band that's becoming mainstream again is gonna have certain benefits for us," he replied. "But I don't even know if we fit in the metal category anymore, because I heard we were moved from the 'metal' category to the 'classic rock' category in the Grammys. I was like, 'What?' I mean, you look at who they nominated for the Grammys this year — one band on there has only sold 10,000 records [referring to KING DIAMOND — Ed.], and I don't understand how we didn't get nominated. It's disappointing and it makes you… When you look at the facts, you just get so much disdain for that, because you know that it's a political thing and that somebody somewhere has bitterness towards me or towards my band. There's just no way that a band that's as successful as we are, with a brand new record that entered in the Top 10 in the Billboard charts, wouldn't get nominated for a Grammy when another band's in there that, like I said, has only sold 10,000 records. But you know what?! It's OK, because I've been nominated for seven Grammys and never won, so, frankly, to me, it's an elusive thing — it doesn't really mean anything to me."
The Helsinki show marked MEGADETH's live debut with new guitarist Chris Broderick (ex-JAG PANZER, NEVERMORE).
The third installment of the U.S. Gigantour — the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by Mustaine — will launch April 12 in Denver, CO with headliner MEGADETH, Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, CA heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE all confirmed. The 29-date trek will criss-cross North America and wraps May 22 in Phoenix, AZ.

British doom veterans ELECTRIC WIZARD have been forced to cancel their previously announced appearance at the Roadburn festival — which will take place April 17-20 at 013 in Tilburg, the Netherlands — due to a "family" matter. They have since been replace by WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, who will perform a one-off show at Roadburn 2008.
Commented ELECTRIC WIZARD's Justin Oborn: "We regret to announce that ELECTRIC WIZARD will not be able to perform at Roadburn festival this year. Unfortunately due to an unforeseen and unavoidable situation, of a personal nature — which we had no idea would arise when we agreed to play last August — it has now become impossible for us to be at Roadburn. This cancellation is not something that we want to do and we wish to apologise to all our fans and all at Roadburn, especially Walter, and we hope that this awesome festival will be the huge success it deserves to be. We will be rescheduling our performance for September 12th, 2008 again at the 013 venue."
ELECTRIC WIZARD's sixth full-length studio album, "Witchcult Today", was released in November via Rise Above Records. Recorded and produced by Liam Watson (WHITE STRIPES, DATSUNS) at London's legendary Toerag studios, initial CD copies came in foil gatefold LP replica, with a double vinyl version foil sleeve also available.

“A Sense of Purpose” is set for release in Canada and the U.S. on Apr. 1.
Currently trekking across North America on a 15-date tour, Sonata Arctica made a pit stop Monday night at The Warehouse in Calgary, AB. Kicking off the show was homegrown progressive/death hybrid Nebucadnezzer. Barely in their 20s, but playing the local circuit for over three years, the quartet did a fabulous job of warming up an already enthusiastic crowd. Performing local favourites like “Leviathan,” as well as tunes from their soon to be released independent album “Affliction,” Nebucadnezzer proved that the opening slot can be just as audibly intense as the rest. With talent beyond their years, Nebucadnezzer showed up with what seemed like no other plan than to slay. More...

The band features members from BLASPHEMY, WITCHES HAMMER and INFERNAL MAJESTY. The TYRANT'S BLOOD sound can best be described as a mix of classic 80s Death / Thrash along the lines of old SADUS with hints of MORBID ANGEL, POSSESSED, DESTRUCTION for good measure. The 5 song EP "Prophecy" has already been recorded and is due for release soon.

"The album is officially complete, mixing and mastering are finished. From here we are shopping the album around to various labels and seeing what our best options are. Colin Davis of the Californian brutal death metallers VILE has posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:
"I have been getting a lot of e-mails asking when the next VILE album will be out. It's been 2.5 years and it's about time. We have typically released an album every three years. And by the time this new one actually comes out, it will probably be right on time!"
"The main reason that we take so much time is my fault. I like to go slow. I like to wait for the old ideas to go away and let them get replaced with new ones. If I go too fast, I am afraid that the albums could be too similar. This is a problem many bands have and I really don't want to get trapped that way. The music changes as life changes and waiting lets the albums each have their own identity and style." More...
TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan has told MTV.com that the band will soon be reconvening to start kicking around song ideas for the group's fifth studio album.
"We're going to start writing the new TOOL record right away," he said.
Keenan didn't say when he expected the band to start tracking the effort, when it might be ready for release or what it might sound like. But with TOOL's touring schedule wide open for the foreseeable future, he said it's time for the band to buckle down. He also elaborated on TOOL's creative process.
"The music always comes first," Keenan said. "We all get in a room, shut out all the extra noises from the other people and what goes on outside the room and just focus on the four of us, where we are that day. And then we just start making sounds." More...
