ROCK ON THE RANGE will return to Columbus, Ohio’s Crew Stadium Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, 2009. The 2009 line-up for the nationally renowned festival centrally located in the heart of the country will be highlighted by performances from some of rock’s biggest artists including Mötley Crüe, Slipknot, Alice In Chains, Avenged Sevenfold and Korn.
“We try to listen to our fans and they've been saying for years that we should play at Rock On The Range,” said Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe.
“We're really excited to play one of America's great rock festivals,” SLIPKNOT’s Corey Taylor says, “Being asked to headline Rock on the Range is an absolute pleasure! Columbus, Ohio has always been very good to us. The line-up looks great; the shows look fantastic. And I personally think it will be an absolute blast for everyone. See you in May!”
Presented by Right Arm Entertainment, AEG LIVE and Crew Stadium, the two-day, multi-stage music and lifestyle event will feature a potent line-up of more than 35 bands. This year’s well-rounded mix of rock’s top artists also includes Shinedown, Buckcherry, The Used, Atreyu, Chevelle, Flyleaf, Saving Abel, Saliva, Blue October, Hoobastank, Black Stone Cherry, and many more.
This marks the third outing for the annual event, which drew 30,000 people in its inaugural year in 2007 and more than 55,000 people in 2008. Event features this year include the addition of a third stage, the Jägermeister Music Stage, on-stage fan platforms--for contest winners--and an expanded vendor village.
In 2009, ROCK ON THE RANGE will also increase their “Go Green” initiative via ROTR “Go Green,” an online portal that allows fans to recycle old cell phones and mp3 players for free tickets and ROTR memorabilia and official festival merchandise. ROTR is the first festival to have an on-line recycling trade-in rewards component. More information can be found at www.rotrgogreen.com.

Billboard.com reports: Heaven And Hell, the band featuring the post-Ozzy Osbourne members of Black Sabbath, will release its first album under that name, "The Devil You Know," April 28 on Rhino.
The set is Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice's first studio release since the 1992 Sabbath album "Dehumanizer," and was preceded by three new songs on the recent compilation "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years."
Song titles include "Bible Black," "Rock & Roll Angel," "Breaking Into Heaven," "Atom & Evil" and "Eating the Cannibals."
Iommi told Billboard last summer that "it really is Black Sabbath, whatever we do," but said the artists had chosen to tour as Heaven And Hell "so everyone knows what they're getting [and] so people won't expect to hear 'Iron Man' and all those songs. We've done them for so many years, it's nice to do just all the stuff with did with Ronnie again."
Thunderstone has posted a new song, "Star," on their MySpace player, from their new, yet named album. "Star" showcases the band at its heaviest so far and features guest vocals from Amorphis frontman Tomi Joutsen. More new on the release will be revealed in the future.

Frontiers Records has announced the European release of GREAT WHITE's brand new studio album “Rising” on March 13, 2009.
Long time members Jack Russell (vocals), Mark Kendall (lead guitar), Audie Desbrow (drums), Michael Lardie (guitar, keyboards) with new bassist Scott Snyder (ex RAMOS) have spent the last few months in the studio writing and recording new songs. “I think had we done this record back in the day it would hold up to anything we've ever done and also fit perfectly” says guitar player Mark Kendall. “When we make music with Jack singing and me playing guitar along with Michael Lardie, it's going to sound like Great White no matter what era.”
“The new album for me was extension of the affection we have for playing music together” says Michael Lardie, “I believe the songs are a bit more introspective true to life experience for us, not all the songs were written as we went into the studio, so I feel there is a freshness to the tracks as a result.”
According to singer Jack Russell, “The band is in great shape and everyone is excited about the new year. We can't wait to tour and play some of the new music live. Our new bass player Scott is a great guy who can really play. The stuff he wrote to our new music is awesome!”
Just like the previous album, "Rising", was mixed, produced, and engineered by Michael Lardie. The new cd rocks from start to finish and shows the band’s maturity in writing amazing Rock anthems, killer Blues numbers, melodic mid-tempos and heartfelt ballads.
Amidst the news of Metallica's Grammy wins, we failed to report that Robert Plant and Alison Krauss also won five Grammy awards at the 51st annual Grammy Awards at Los Angeles' Staples Center. Then again, the wins were not in metal categories - they included album of the year for the Rounder project "Raising Sand," record of the year for "Please Read The Letter," pop collaboration with vocals for "Rich Woman," best country collaboration with vocals for "Killing the Blues," and best contemporary folk/Americana album.
"We are thrilled and very grateful to everybody who is excited for us," Krauss said. "I'm bewildered," Plant said. "In the old days we would have called this selling out -- but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."
Krauss and Plant performed both "Rich Woman" and "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" during the show.
Plant and Krauss later confirmed that the will be doing another album together.

"Krass Judgement is looking for a new lead guitarist! The band is looking for someone that is dedicated and willing to practice at least twice a week at our practice space in Manassas. We usually play 2-4 shows a month. Anyone interested in joining the band needs to be willing to travel. The band does play 3 day weekends when we are able to, usually in the summer time. We are also looking for someone that is able to pitch in with band expenses such as gas, merchandise, hotel rooms and rent on our practice space.
"Krass Judgement is a well established band that has been playing for over 10 years. We have a large fan base in Northern Va. as well as Richmond, Virginia Beach and New York. The band is constantly working hard to expand ourselves farther up and down the east coast. So far we have played in West Va., Maryland, PA, Delaware, New York, North Carolina and Tennessee. As a band we have also played with numerous National Acts: Metal Church, Overkill, Sodom, Celtic Frost, Deicide, Napalm Death, Finntroll, Obituary, In This Moment and Testament to name a few.
"With the above being said only the serious, dedicated and financially able need to respond! If you are interested in auditioning, then hit us up here and we will set up a time to meet with you at our practice in Manassas."
