Procession has checked in with the following announcement about lineup changes within the band:
"First of all and after months of analysis, chats and life's unexpected events, FRANCISCO AGUIRRE is no longer in charge of the drum artillery in Procession. Basically, he's being kept busy with his other band (Attacker Bloody Axe...check it out!), building the new Capilla Ardiente material with Claudio and just recently, forced to move to a different town which would mean even less time to try and make him part of composing/recording process of the new tracks. Of course this is under the most friendly of terms, he's in heart, will and memory one of the headstones of Procession's history...keep it up 'dolape!'
"This basically means we've taken the decision to incorporate Evans/Pro-Mark artist (and In Solitude's drummer) UNO BRUNIUSSON as the official drummer of Procession. For those who ignore it, he's been live/session drummer for us for more than a year, demonstrating to be a contribution both on stage and, most recently, on creative ground on the ongoing TRHA sessions.
"This, along with the inclusion of JONAS PEDERSEN on guitar only means that Procession got heavier, thicker and angrier.
"We're sure nothing else but satisfaction can come out of this new pact, as confirmed this last weekend with the 'apparition' of one more song for our next album."
Fan filmed video footage has posted online of Anthrax performing live in Indianapolis on Friday, January 27th, 2012. The clips, which include Gene Hoglan performing with the band, can be viewed below.
Eyes Front North is streaming it's recent three song EP over at Bandcamp. Eyes Front North is a studio project created in 2010 by Lionel Forest (vocals/guitar), Nicolas Simon (guitar) and Victor Tuhran (bass). Eyes Front North mixes metal with other musical styles such as post-rock, hardcore, doom and black metal, leading to a kind of hybrid or crossover full of loud guitars.
The first EP was partly recorded in the Dual Switch Cuts Studio in Vincennes (France). The drums parts were performed and recorded by drummer Conny Pettersson of the Swedish death metal band Anata in Sweden on February 2011. The mix and mastering was made in DSC Studio in May 2011. Fabrice Berger, drummer of progressive metal band The Black Noodle Project, joined the trio. This allowed EFN to play its first EP on stage opening for the French band SUP.
Many fans of European power metal, and the Italian scene in general, equate great music with Rhapsody Of Fire. However, were you aware that one Italian band, who has been around just as long, has virtually gone unnoticed in the “New World”? In 1997, right around the time that Rhapsody Of Fire, then Rhapsody, was just releasing its “Legendary Tales” album, a band named Drakkar (a variant of the Norse word “Dreker” or Viking long boat) was starting up in Milan and demoing material for what would be the first, and appropriately titled album, “Quest for Glory.” The album was released in 1998 through the Italian record label Dragonheart Records. The band played epic power metal, but with a slightly less symphonic element at the time. They went on to record two more releases with the label, “Gemini” (2000) and “Razorblade God” (2002), with various lineup changes along the way, most notably the addition of vocalist Davide Dell’Orto and keyboardist Corrado Solarino on the latter.
Just as the band became more cohesive and defined with the release of “Razorblade God,” they fell off the face of the earth. The longboat was not seen again until the “Classified” EP, which contained material written just after the tour for “Razorblade God,” was released in 2007. The release was meant to tell the world that the band had not split up as one might have suspected. It took another five long years for the band to release what is arguably the best material they have ever written, in the form of the science fiction concept album “When Lightning Strikes.” With strong label support from My Kingdom Music, the Drakkar seeks to recapture its place in the Italian metal scene, with an even greater eye towards a global attack on the entire epic power metal scene. By reaching into its past with a goal to firmly grasp the future, this more mature group of musicians have not only closed the gap of a ten year absence, but propelled itself forward.
Guitarist/songwriter Dario Beretta and vocalist Davide Dell’Orto checked in with Metal Underground for a light-hearted chat to provide the "tell-all"story of the band and the new release “When Lightning Strikes.” In addition, we break the first in-depth news behind Crimson Dawn, a band that started as a traditional metal project and now resurrected by Dario Beretta as regular epic doom metal band. Crimson Dawn has tapped Betoken frontman Antonio Pecere for vocals.
California two-piece Children has posted an independently produced music video online for the track "Girl in the Dirt," which can be viewed below. The band also commented on its history and sound:
"Children is a two-piece synthetic metal band from Los Angeles, California. They fuse the automation of modern electronica with post-industrial drone, while taking inspiration from grim black metal, splatter-punk fiction, and minimal film scores.
"Children is ready to take their sensory-heavy performance on the road. Aside from the two-man presence, the live show is brought to life through video projections of extreme imagery with schizophrenic pacing.
"The duo is comprised of Christopher Zeischegg and Chad Fjerstad (former bassist of Victory Records’ Dead to Fall), both of who live double lives as adult film performers Danny Wylde and Chad Alva."
Endless Winter has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Jordan based metal act Falling Leaves:
"We signed an agreement on the issue full-length debut album of Falling Leaves (Jordan). The album, entitled 'Mournful Cry Of A Dying Sun' is a mix of expressive emotions: grief, loss, internal strife, death and all that with this connected. The conflict between calmness and anger expressed in mixed clean and harsh vocals, and the use of string instruments gives the atmosphere of the hard death/doom sound.
"The album is unique in the number and composition of the guest stars. The record included:
Paul Kuhr (Novembers Doom) Vocals
Pim Blankenstein (Officium Triste,The 11th Hour) Vocals
Josep Brunet (Helevorn) Vocals
Olof Göthlin (Draconian) Violin
Pete Johansen (The Sins of thy Beloved) Violin

Plenty of old school metal bands come from Australia. Immediately coming to mind are Destroyer 666 and Mortal Sin...but don't forget about Blood Duster. Nobody, but nobody is like Blood Duster. They have made a career out of taking sounds and cliches from other genres and turning them on their asses into supremely heavy grinding rock. This year marks 21 years of existence for these crazy Aussies who started pissing in our ears in 1991 when they formed the band, claiming to have met at a peep show. Very underground and cult, you may have missed them if you blinked or were looking in the wrong direction back in the 90's.
But, do not underestimate the impact they had on the scene with their irreverence and complete humorous take on the grindcore genre. In fact, Blood Duster's style of grinding death rock with slabs of retro grooves shows how they are the sum of their parts. Many of the band members came from all kinds of metal bands like Hecatomb and Pod People, so their music is influenced by almost anything. The difference is, through all the chaotic sounds Blood Duster incorporated they always did it well - and did it best. More...

"With this said, we wish that the new album 'Jerusalem' will be the same success in the US and Japan as it is in Europe."
