Legendary American thrash metallers, Sacred Reich, are currently in the studio recording their new studio album - a first in 23 years - entitled Awakening, and have just announced a full European tour beginning November of 2019. The Awakening European Tour will cover all of Europe.

Phil Rind comments: "Recording is in full swing with producer Arthur Rizk at The Platinum Underground in Arizona. We are so excited to be back in the studio after 23 years. Dave is currently killing it on the drums. Sounds sick! Our new record 'Awakening' is due this summer. Stay tuned! Tour dates across the planet coming your way!"

Municipal Waste Frontman On Thrash And Slime

This past month, many of the biggest names in hardcore, crossover and punk banded together to take part in this year's Persistence tour. Headlined by Sick Of It All and featuring the likes of Walls Of Jericho and Incite, along with Napalm Death at the London show, the trek rampaged across Europe before arriving at the English capital. One of the most anticipated bands on the bill was Virginia crossover thrash metal favourites Municipal Waste, who are currently promoting their latest album, "Slime And Punishment."

Before the show (a report on which can be read here), I had the pleasure of meeting up with Municipal Waste (and Iron Reagan) frontman Tony Foresta to discuss the latest album, as well as the band's extensive knowledge of thrash metal, collaborating with Agnostic Front's Vinnie Stigma and why the movie, Parole Violators is just awesome. Fifth Angel Posts New Lyric Video Online

Fifth Angel released their first album in nearly thirty years, 'The Third Secret', in autumn 2018. Before the quartet will perform at Germany's Metal Assault Festival (Würzburg) on February 16, they have launched a brand new lyric video for the track 'Stars Are Falling', the opening track of the aforementioned record. You can check it out below.

"'Stars Are Falling' is a song that will probably have different meanings for different people," states Ken Mary. "Lyrically I don't want to get too specific as again, I believe different meanings will be found by different people and I don't want to ruin that for them. But the overall idea is that there is this race of life that we're all in...where we strive, we fight, we struggle, and we depend on the fact that the sun will rise and that tomorrow is going to be here one way or another. There's a time where that may not be the case; whether that's on a global level or on a personal level. So really it's a song to ponder some of the deeper meanings of life, actually. And with that, I believe I've said enough, lol!"

But additionally, there's bad news from the band's camp too as guitarist Kendall Bechtel has left the band.

In an official statement from Fifth Angel, this change was clarified:

"Kendall is a brother and will always be a part of the Fifth Angel legacy. However, if we are going to be honest, he has chosen a path that has left the band, the fans, our label Nuclear Blast, and our promoters in a very difficult situation. He decided that rather than fulfil the commitments that were already in place, he would leave the band with short notice, making it very difficult for the band to find a suitable replacement."
