Seattle deathbrigade Black Breath is preparing to unleash a new LP, "Sentenced To Life," on March 27th via Southern Lord.
Today Revolver Magazine is debuting the first public listen to "Sentenced To Life," as well as the cover art for the album. Check out the unhinged sixth track, "Mother Abyss," and more right here. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"With 10 tracks in under 33 minutes, Sentenced To Life contains the most demoralizing yet energizing d-beat injected death metal hymns from the band to date, with a bit less rock and roll swagger and more full-on rage. The album is a product of furious creativity jammed into a short span of time, written in the seemingly endless Winter after returning from their November 2010 European tour. As with their acclaimed debut full-length Heavy Breathing, Black Breath recorded at God City Studios with Kurt Ballou, and had the finished product mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side."

Victory Records announced today that New Jersey based act Ill Niño has officially entered the studio to begin work on an upcoming new album. The effort is slated for a summer 2012 release. Further details on the release will be announced as they are made available.
Frontman Cristian Machado commented, "It's 2012 & we're all still alive. It’s time to redefine Latin metal."
"This time around, we want to explore Latin and Tribal rhythms we have never explored in the past 5 releases, giving us no musical boundaries at all," said drummer/founder Dave Chavarri on the band’s creative process for this album.
For more information on Ill Niño and to listen to songs available for streaming, head over to the band's official Facebook profile.
Ill Nino's "How Can I Live" track was also featured on Metalunderground.com's "Metal Videos To Get You In The Halloween Mood" last year. Check out the article at this location.
Dutch droners Bitcho recorded the debut double album "Toybox" in 2009 and released a limited online run of 200 copies, which sold out within a few months. In 2011 Bitcho injected new alcohol to the band, recruited a third bass player, and wrote a lot of new material that will, according to the group, "make you trip like &*$#. It's hypnotic, monotonous, repetitive and distorted, full of feedback-enriched segments, analog soundscapes and sluggish huge drums."
"Toybox" will be re-released in 2012 with new artwork, and Bitcho will also record a destructing new follow-up album.
U.S. act Save Our Souls has posted a new single online titled "Animal," which is off the band's EP of the same title. Check out the song via Reverbnation or watch the music video in the player below. The band also issued the following press release about its history:
"Save Our Souls is an American progressive metal band formed in 2010 by singer George William, guitarist Julian Ken and drummer Jason D'Amelio.
"George and Jason played together in previous bands in their hometown of New York City. George met Julian, who is originally from Kazakhstan, while living in Brooklyn and the three relocated to Los Angeles in 2009.
"In February of 2010 Save Our Souls performed at the Playboy Mansion's annual Super Bowl party. That year they also performed at the Sunset Strip Music Festival headlined by The Smashing Pumpkins, and recorded a track with platinum recording artist Yung Berg.
"Most recently the band teamed up with producer Tom Chandler and recorded the four song EP 'Animal,' which they released on January 20th 2012, along with a music video directed by Mike Marshall of Category 5 Films. With much more material already written, the band plans on returning to the studio with Tom Chandler to record again in between playing shows along the west coast.
"Save Our Souls has opened for Iron Maiden, Slash, The Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Ill Nino, God Forbid, 40 Below Summer and more." More...

Singapore act Absence of the Sacred has signed a deal with Sonic Blast Media to release the new album "Come Hither O Herald of Death" worldwide on March 1st, 2012. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Absence of the Sacred’s latest and third album, Come Hither O Herald of Death, is probably a great testimony to the band’s ability to evolve and sustain executing Death Metal with a melodic progressive touch. The album also features the much-sought after Kevin Talley of DAATH, SIX FEET UNDER & MISERY INDEX behind the skins."
Vocalist Mike Priest has described "Come Hither O Herald of Death" as being the musical epitome of what Absence of the Sacred has done in the course of its seven-year existence: “The music in this album is best described as being raw and aggressive Death Metal honed with progressive touches and technical melodic sensibilities. We did not want the production of this album to be polished and sterile like most modern releases as we want to keep the sense of a musical record being a musical record, not a Pro-Tools generated record where everything sounds too perfect and straight-forward. We can safely say that "Come Hither O Herald Of Death" is the heaviest release and has a more mature songwriting approach in comparison to our last two records.”
The album's track listing is as follows: More...

"The CD contains 11 brand new tracks which are rather different from the band’s previous work. It is a symbiosis of Black / Death Metal pressure, melodies of Heavy and lyricism of acoustic ethnic parts."

In the studio update, Turilli states:
In some days Dominique and Patrice will start recording their guitar and bass parts in a French studio. Dominique is actually rehearsing the parts and on Friday will start recording the rhythmic guitar of half album and a couple of lead parts too. Meanwhile Luca is working on the second step of the arrangement process for each song, finalizing the keyboard parts and creating the sound design elements in his private home studio in Trieste, Italy. From tomorrow he will start recording the rhythmic and the main lead guitars too. “Hi to everybody, the last part of the arrangement process is very long and emotionally demanding but is also the most satisfying from an artistic point of view. I just finished to work on the keyboard parts of the song DARK FATE OF ATLANTIS and on the sound effects needed to give breath and life to the same song. I needed almost one week to complete the last phase of the arrangements for it but this is the amazing step necessarily needed to turn a song from normal into “cinematic”. After many days and an infinite mind blowing search between intimate sounds and apocalyptic textures and effects, it is time for me to disconnect from that kind of spiritual experience and finally relax starting to record some guitar parts ha ha. From tomorrow I will have then 2 computers open in front of me: one to record the guitar and the second to bounce the first files for Sebastian, our studio engineer. Just to let you understand the amount of work necessary in this case: for a typical RHAPSODY song of around 6 minutes like DARK FATE OF ATLANTIS I will need around 12 hours to originate the audio files that then will be used for the mix. If you want to know more about these aspects related with the composition and arrangement process, I will just be happy to inform you from our band’s facebook page in the next days. Stay tuned!

The band will appear at the Austin engagement on Wednesday, March 14, which coincides with the week-long music showcases of SXSW. WTF Fest is not a metal festival, but rather a collection of subversive and outspoken artists, including performances from Mike IX Williams (EYEHATEGOD), Martin Atkins (PIGFACE), and much more.
Birth A.D.bassist/vocalist Jeff Tandy comments on the band's involvement: "This is one of those events where a lot of ideas will be thrown around and everyone will get a chance to make their statement. Sometimes it seems like art is the only real democracy we have, the only avenue where you can express yourself without being instantly shouted down. There are other countless undergrounds out there besides metal, and it will be fun to interface with so many different minds."
The event will take place at Ruta Maya Live Venue and admission is free, but donations to support the event and its artists are gratefully accepted at the festival's Kickstarter site. For more details, visit this location. More...

Over the past few years a lot of rockers from the eighties have partnered with Madison Avenue to create brief whore-like relationships. This week a look at the new Super Bowl commercials, and a few blasts from the past commercials: More...
