Mark "Barney" Greenway, lead vocalist of British grindcore legends Napalm Death, has checked in with a message regarding the band's forthcoming new studio album, their first since 2009's, "Time Waits For No Slave." The message reads as follows:
"We will be starting more or less from scratch making a new album and will record in May. Don't read that wrong — it doesn't take us that much time to get our stuff together, it's just that Russ Russell, our producer, has his hands full until May. It does seem a while since Time Waits…, but we recorded the previous few albums in quick succession so thought we'd hold back for a change. Time can indeed fucking wait." More...
Swedish melodic death metal outfit Amon Amarth has announced that the band will be embarking on a headlining tour of the United States this April. The tour will feature Amon Amarth performing two sets every night, one consisting of the new album "Surtur Rising" in full.
Elaborated drummer Fredrik Andersson: "We're really excited about the upcoming album, Surtur Rising. And what better way to showcase it by playing the full album on our first US tour for Surtur Rising?! It's definitely a unique opportunity for our fans because not only will the album be performed live but a second set with material from our previous albums will take place. We want our fans to really experience Amon Amarth."

Speaking recently to Rolling Stone, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed that the band would be entering the studio in May to record a new project. "We want to record it in two weeks," guitarist Kirk Hammett tells Rolling Stone.
He went on to state, "We had planned on doing it in March, but we pushed it back to May. I don't want to give too much away, but it's not really 100 percent a Metallica record. It's a recording project, let's put it that way. Without getting too deep into it, it's more a recording project than a bona fide Metallica album. Whether or not we can pull it off in just two weeks remains to be seen."

The Marin Independent Journal is reporting that Steven Wiig, who was previously the personal assistant to Metallica's Lars Ulrich, is suing Ulrich and claiming years of unpaid overtime. According to the suit, Wiig is seeking unspecified damages over allegations of both federal and state labor violations. Both Lars Ulrich and Team Tours are named in the lawsuit. The Martin Independent Journal stated:
Wiig claims he worked up to 70 hours a week while Ulrich was in Marin and up to 80 hours a week while Metallica was on tour.
"Wiig was essentially on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week," his Los Angeles-based lawyers, Alan Harris and David Zelenski, said in the complaint.
Wiig said he was paid $1,730.76 every two weeks, or $45,000 a year, and had an oral agreement for annual bonuses.
Wiig said he did not receive bonuses in 2006 and 2008, and when he left the job in February 2009, he was not paid for the accumulated overtime he was owed. Wiig says he received a "partial bonus" of $20,000 in December 2010.
Metallica also recently announced plans to enter the recording studio to record the follow-up to "Death Magnetic."

Spain's Darkness By Oath has issued the following update about the band's upcoming album:
"Hi there: Just a little update about what's going on at the DBO camp. We're still working on the new album, and work's improving sound-wise and when it comes to the sons themselves too, so we are really happy about how it's getting into form, and really confident about the final result.
"We are working on a new myspace design as you read this. Hopefully it will be able in some weeks or so. The cover artwork (done by Nahikari - Auryn digital) is mostly finished and looks great. We will reveal it when the time is right you'll have to wait a little longer though.
"The new album title will be 'Near Death Experience,' and you'll find songs like, 'Fallen angel of death,' 'Last emotion,' 'NDE,' 'In an obscure eternity' to name a few.
"Apart from this, there would be some guest appearences in this our third album, some well known names and talented musicians that we really admire. It's fucking great to have them in our album!! We're eager to let you know who they are, but won't do yet, haha :P Well, that's it by now, have a nice weekend everyone! Rock on!"

Playboy mag's February 2011 Playmate Kylie Johnson, a California girl, cites As Blood Runs Black as one of her favorite bands in this month's issue, the band announced.
In her bio, she lists as her "musical passion": "Metalcore screamo bands like As Blood Runs Black and Miss May I never fail to thrill me."
She adds: "I’m very rock-and-roll, but I’m also very romantic. I’m always spreading the love–always! All I want to do is cuddle all day and convince you not to go to work the next morning. Let’s romance each other.”
The Los Angeles-based band, meanwhile, will release it's new album "Instinct" March 15 and is currently out on The Atticus Metal Tour with Darkest Hour, Born of Osiris and The Human Abstract.
Lech (drums) and Nick (bass) said: "We don't think anyone truly understands how much the odds were really against us. It felt like we were stuck in quicksand. The harder we tried to pull ourselves out, the further we sank. It came to a point where we felt alone and betrayed. It was like everybody around us wrote us off and everyone else expected us to give up. But in reality, it just fueled our drive to get this record done and to give our fans what they truly deserve and have so patiently waited for. That is essentially what this new album is about, overcoming obstacles and following your instincts.
“Right now is the calm before the storm. With Instinct about to be released, our schedule for 2011 is finally filling up fast. This year we're going to be focusing on playing shows worldwide. We can't express how amazing it feels to have Instinct finally completed. It's even better to know that we will be back out on the road once again playing shows and hanging out with all our old friends and making new ones along the way. This is looking to be an exciting year for us and we can't wait to get it started.
“Instinct has the same elements that made Allegiance unique, with new flavors and a fresh take on what's current in todays scene. Hit up our social sites now to get your hands on the limited pre-order options we have available as they are very limited. Thanks again to all of our fans for allowing us the opportunity to continue this band and further our legacy. We'll see you on the road!"

Titans Eve has issued the following statement regarding the band's upcoming album:
"Hey metal heads! The weekend is coming and I figured it was time to shed some light on our new concept album Life Apocalypse.
"Imagine you died and came back to life except you cant remember your old life, and everyone you loved and all that you cared for has been lost. That is the basis of our new concept album a concept based on a yet to be disclosed character and the power of the human spirit pushing it to its absolute limit. For as long as I can remember people have been awaiting end time dates set up by prophets and calenders. However many people fail to see that the Apocalypse comes to us all at sometime or another in our personal lives, and that could be in the form of anything that devastates a person enough for them to choose between life or death.
"The songs are sounding powerful and epic as hell. I really am beyond excited to get tracking in April.
"I want to keep you all in the loop on the progress of Life Apocalypse, So every week I will fill you in on more of what is going on and how each song is shaping up. Thank you for all the support!!! keep supporting METAL!"

Bodies in Barbwire has checked in with the following update about recording new material:
"Hails! Been working on new tracks and so far have 4 tracks done with guitars and currently working on new track #5 and drum programming. The new tracks offer everything from fast shreds to slow crunching riffs to even slower Brutal slams! Ive been trying different methods and recording techniques on these as well to raise the quality of the sound a bit. I will be doing exhale gutturals as normal but will be using inhales on these new tracks as well to give the tracks more depth. So far everything is sounding pretty good.
"Just cant wait to get you guys to lay some ears on the evolution and next step of BiB's Brutality! If you guys have a Facebook make sure you add BiB on there because I update BiB's Facebook almost hourly. Much respect to all my bros and bands who rep BiB! Keep Supporting you sickos!"

"This is an honest, no holds barred album containing various styles of music. In a way, it is a bit of a selfish record. We wrote the kind of material that we like. You can't please everybody, so you might as well please yourself. Honestly, that's what true art is. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION."

Coldworker drummer Anders Jackobson has posted the following recording update online and announcement about the title of the band's new album:
"There's often talk about 'the difficult second album.' Well, history has told me time and again that the third album is usually the most memorable in a band's discography.
"We have all put more than 100% each into this album, writing songs that will stand out on their own as well as have a natural place on the album, spending many hours in three different recording studios just to get the best out of ourselves and so on.
"The album is definitively 'the next step' for Coldworker, with developed song-writing and performances that are the best we can muster. It's really a band effort as all five members of the band have written songs, and like wise all five of us have opinions about what the final album should be. We still have, alas friendly, arguments about the mix and the track order, but at least we have decided upon a title: the album will be called 'The Doomsayer's Call'."
You can also check out footage of the band performing the new song "Becoming the Stench" at this location.
Sacramento, California metal act Devastator has announced that it will be changing its name to Blessed Curse. The band offered the following explanation:
"Due to the ever-increasing number of bands deciding to use the name Devastator, and '.....tor' bands in general that have been springing up these days we've concluded that it is best for our band to stand out from the pack as much as possible, apart from our music alone. This new name fits our band to the letter because of our extensive history of being a band from an area where there is not much of anything for a music scene and having to travel to build any kind of fanbase, life on the road, all the ups and downs and in betweens of being in a metal band.
"Also, about a year ago we were fortunate to meet a local fan of our band for many years named Clark Webb, who is now wielding rhythm guitar with us, making our band officially no longer a trio and making us an even more powerful force to be reckoned with in the metal music world."
American hard rock act Hellyeah has posted its new music video online. The video was shot for the track "Better Man" and is taken from the band's latest studio album "Stampede." You can view the video below:

Milan, Italy modern metal act Exilia has posted the following statement online in regards to its forthcoming new studio album "Decode."
"['Decode' is] something real, something that cannot be contained in a commercial box. Music is my way to express myself and I get inspired by many music styles, writing and combining different genres to find the right code to decypher the sound I hear in my head. "I can't put any limits to it, our music is universal and does not belong to any system."
"Decode" is currently planned for release in May.

Danish metal act The Burning has announced that it has parted ways with bassist Thue Moller. The band commented on Moller's departure by saying;
"Thue has been struggling with tinnitus for a while, and, unfortunately, it has only been getting worse, and his doctor now advises him to quit music altogether. We are very sad to see him go, and we hope he will get better soon.
"The band seeks a new dedicated, experienced replacement, that can step into a band with high tour activity. It's less important if you playing style is fast, technical or heavy and basic, as long as you pound that thing with everything you've got, can let loose, and have no problem being away from home."
California metal act Devildriver has posted its new music video online. The video was shot for the track "Dead To Rights" which is set to appear on the band's forthcoming full length album "Beast." Guitarist/vocalist James Farwell of Vancouver, Canada heavy metal act Bison B.C. has posted the following statement online in regards to the band being refused entry into the United States to play a special one-off show with Eyehategod in Seattle:
"Due to our vicious plot to undermine the American economy and to destroy the citizens of the United States of America's belief in freedom and baseball or whatever, we weren't allowed to cross that fascinating imaginary line. More likely due to a fucking clerical error somewhere in Corporate America, the fine people at Homeland Security had no choice but to keep Americans secure from us dirty fucking Canadians. But fear not my fellow poser Canadians, we will get our fucking paper work in order soon enough and be down destroying things before you can say, 'Does Celine Dion shit in the fucking woods?!,' and yes indeed she does. Peace on Earth."
In related news, Bison B.C. is currently in the studio penning the follow-up to the band's critically acclaimed "Dark Ages" full-length. Further details are expected to be revealed soon. "Dark Ages" was released in 2010 through Metal Blade Records.
See what I did there? Clever stuff, eh? Anyway, Death Angel is out doing a club tour across North America to support their newest studio full length, “Relentless Retribution,” supported by Lazarus A.D., Bonded by Blood, Early Man and Hexen. They stopped by Chicago on February 9, and already had a couple strikes against them before they even took the stage. But more on that later. Lazarus A.D. was supposed to be second on the bill but had van problems and didn’t make it to Chicago; an obvious bummer all around for obvious reasons, and it especially sucked for your correspondent, since I love me some Lazarus A.D. Hexen and Early Man were also replaced by a couple local Chicago bands. Enough preamble, let’s talk about what actually happened. More...
