Children Of Bodom Posts New Lyric Video Online

Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has unleashed the official lyric video for their new single "The Road." You can check it out below.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments: "This Road was actually the last song I wrote but it ended up being the opening track and also one of the singles which makes me happy cos it’s one of my faves. It’s different from anything we’ve done since Follow the Reaper but it’s still new. Check it out and you’ll know what I mean."

"Hexed" saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila ("I Worship Chaos," "Halo Of Blood," "Hatebreeder," "Follow the Reaper" & "Hate Crew Deathroll") who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover, “For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with a little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“

Hexed track list:
1. This Road
2. Under Grass and Clover
3. Glass Houses
4. Hecate’s Nightmare
5. Kick in the Spleen
6. Platitudes and Barren Words
7. Hexed
8. Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)
9. Say Never Look Back
10. Soon Departed
11. Knuckleduster
12. I Worship Chaos (live)
13. Morrigan (live)
14. Knuckleduster (remix) More...

Powerwolf Makes Bristol Howl

While tour packages can often cater to fans of a specific sound, it can be said that the best lineups are ones which offer something for everyone. Last week, German power metal quintet Powerwolf rolled into the south west of England to perform at the SWX club, bringing countrymen Kissin' Dynamite and Scandinavian band Amaranthe with them. The tour promised a lot but did it deliver? Read on MacDuff...

Kicking off proceedings tonight was German glam metal outfit Kissin' Dynamite. The band are all in their twenties but have already released six albums and been around for over a decade and it's little surprise that they've been going so long while they're so young, because they put on one hell of a show. They make it known that their mission is to "bring back stadium rock" while at the SWX club may not be Madison Square Garden, the quintet create a huge atmosphere, which begun immediately with the awesome opener, "I've Got The Fire." Kissin' Dynamite has a really powerful sound which seems like it'll work in any setting, pounding skulls with such songs as "Sex Is War" and "I Will Be King," the latter of which was accompanied by frontman Hannes Braun going full Freddie Mercury and taking to the stage in crown and cape. A fantastic reminder of just how fun heavy metal can be, Kissin' Dynamite will only get bigger. More...

Nightrage Posts New Single Online

Nightrage is back with their second single, "The Damned", from their upcoming album "Wolf To Man" where the band invites us to a mesmerizing melodic musical journey, telling the truthful story that guides us all the way to the inevitable demise of mankind. The music delivers a delicate and well-balanced blend between brutality and melody, and also an intricate mix of thrashing riffs, airy instrumentals and hooking choruses to bang your fists to. "The Damned" will be released February 1st via Despotz Records.

"Humans have given up on living for real and now just live for next cheap thrill not giving a shit how to make it to the next day. It's more important to have many “likes” on social media then it is to take care of or interact with the ones living around you. We and our bodies are just empty shells now losing the last of our damned souls to the cheap thrill of fake life online. It's our own fault. Hate us and blame us. We are the damned!" - Nightrage

This relentless story of extinction is told with as much aggression as there is intriguing and mesmerizing melodies. Memorable hooks and some of the catchiest choruses that metal has seen in decades, does nothing to compromise the brutality and honesty that Nightrage is known for. More...

Ashen Horde Posts New Lyric Video Online

Hailing from the cold, unforgiving wastelands of Hollywood, California, Ashen Horde is a two-piece band that strives to embrace a multitude of extreme metal sub-genres, without being bound to any one of them. Drawing influence from metal’s crème de le extreme, from Enslaved and Devin Townsend to Ihsahn and Opeth, Ashen Horde (aka Trevor Portz and Stevie Boiser (Vale of Phath, Inferi)), may have a sound rooted in death and black metal, but can’t truly be called either.

Originally launched as a one-man project in 2013 by writer and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Portz, Ashen Horde has released two albums, as well as several EPs, over the past three years. Beginning with the ambitious Sanguinum Vindicta trilogy, Portz has worked tirelessly to develop a sound that is both challenging and unique. More...
