This has been a tough decision but alas it is a decision taken on doctor's orders. My heart is still with the guys and the music but my voice can't take anymore damage than it has taken over the years. It has been a great ride and I wish I could ride the cloud of AXA untill eternity. The gigs that are planned will go on with me as the singer."

Iron Maiden’s show in Sofia came second.
"This was the first time we played Bulgaria, and it was a pleasure indeed. We are already looking forward to coming back, but that won't unfortunately be until we have a new album out, but when we do, be sure that we will be back!
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Vesko and the local crew for their professionalism. And of course each and every one of you who came out to the show and made it to a night to remember. Hail METAL! See you next time!”

I still have a few copies left so place your order today. To give our loyal fans who have pre-ordered the album further value for money, we are having one of the shows in Italy filmed and I will be giving some edited footage away as part of the package. The footage will be pretty raw and the sound unmixed and with simple artwork, but it will be another great addition to the package. This will only be available on pre-orders.
It has been a fantastic time for the band over the last six months and we hope you the fans (the reason for the bands existence) have enjoyed the progression and have felt very much part of it. It was always the aim to get you close to the band and have your voices heard.

Most of these shows will have pre-sales for Clubbers only, so keep watching MetClub for more details. As for you Americans who have been having a good moan, we'll have a little something for you next week. No more hints for now..."
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently spoke with Revolver magazine about the band's ninth studio album, which is expected out later this year and will be its first all-new effort since 2003's "St. Anger". Ulrich told the magazine that the group's new material "is certainly a lot more dynamic and a lot more varied than the last couple of go-rounds," adding, "There's a lot of light and shade in these songs. There's heavy, fast, nutty stuff, and then there's some slowdowns and musical interludes." Ulrich also said that the album has more in common with some of the group's '80s releases than more recent offerings like "St. Anger" and "Load".
Ulrich wouldn't agree that the yet-to-be-titled disc is a full-blown return to the past, saying, "I hate to be that specific, because six months from now people are gonna go, 'What the fuck? Lars lied to us!' But it feels that way to me."
The drummer also revealed that producer Rick Rubin, working with the band for the first time, wanted METALLICA to use classic efforts like "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" as "reference points" for its new songs.
There's no word yet on an exact release date for the new METALLICA CD, although a summer release is likely.
Director Peter Margolis of Dakota Pictures has told Knoxville's Metro Pulse that he is "about 80 percent done shooting" his much-anticipated Randy Rhoads (OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT) documentary film. "But the first 80 percent took as long as it's going to take for the last 20 percent," Margolis explained. "It's the same as if you've ever built a house. Pouring the concrete and putting up the walls is easy. It's the finishing touches, the final stuff, that takes forever....I work, too. I'm doing the film because it's something I want to do, but I can't ignore my career. I'm doing it around my schedule, so at times it's slow going. Realistically, it'll be summertime before I finish all the interviews, then trimming it, adding pictures and music.”
In 2005, Margolis, a veteran TV producer, director, and production manager who's worked, in varying capacities, on "NewsRadio", "Just Shoot Me!", and "The Larry Sanders Show", was working on a televised awards show in Los Angeles. He sat down for lunch with a camera operator he'd worked with several times but only knew casually. The operator told Margolis he was from Burbank, and Margolis told him he'd taken guitar lessons there from Rhoads in 1978 and '79.
"In the middle of L.A., where there are 5,000 camera operators, I was talking to the one guy who was Randy's guitar tech when he was in QUIET RIOT," Margolis says. The camera operator introduced Margolis to Lori Hollen, who had been president of the QUIET RIOT fan club when she was a teenager. A few weeks after Margolis met Hollen, he was pitching a documentary film to Randy's mother, Delores Rhoads, in her living room in Burbank.
"She'd been approached by writers, directors, filmmakers, and repeatedly said no," Margolis says. "She felt like it had to be someone who knew him. Anybody else couldn't understand what he was about and who he was."
Margolis and his crew started filming on March 19, 2007, when hundreds of fans gathered at Rhoads' grave in San Bernardino, Calif., to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death. Since then, Margolis has filmed almost 80 interviews, with Rhoads' family and friends and people who worked with him. The list of names includes Kelli Garni, the original bassist in QUIET RIOT; Carlos Cavazo, the guitarist in the "Metal Health" line-up of QUIET RIOT; Sarzo and his brother Robert, who was considered as a replacement for Rhoads in Ozzy's band; Jodi Raskin, Rhoads' girlfriend at the time of his death; Grover Jackson, whose company made Rhoads' signature guitars; Randy's brother Kelle, who's wearing the silver "RR" ring Rhoads had on when he died; and MOUNTAIN guitarist and '70s legend Leslie West, one of Rhoads' idols.
Margolis says he has a distribution deal lined up, but he also plans to shop the as-yet-untitled documentary at film festivals when it's done. More...

Sandy Tomcho of the Times Herald-Record recently conducted an interview with QUEENSRŸCHE lead singer Geoff Tate. The question-and-answer session follows:
Times Herald-Record: Are you guys having a contest bringing fans up onstage to sing with you?
Tate: Yeah. Different radio stations are getting involved and they're holding sort of pre-contests, and there'll be three contestants and then those three will show up at our show and they'll each come onstage after Don Dokken leaves the stage. The winner gets to sing later on in our encore set with one of the cover songs.
Times Herald-Record: Some people might not know the band, but they definitely know the song "Silent Lucidity". Does that ever get old for you, or are you still very thankful for that song?
Tate: Oh no, no. It's never old for us. Every now and then we get an "Oh, you guys are still around?" Yup, we sure are. We're very proud of it. That song was a song that really connected with a lot of people, and it had a lot of record company money behind it and a lot of promotional money. Back then it was like $6,000 or $10,000 a station to put your song on the radio, and EMI, at the time, just had a lot of money to throw out and really pushed that song. That was the beauty of radio then.
Times Herald-Record: I read a review somewhere suggesting that the next time "Jesus Christ Superstar" comes around, you should be considered for the role of Judas based on what you did on your cover album, "Take Cover". What do you think about that?
Tate: It's a nice compliment. Yeah, I think I'd probably consider doing that. I love singing and I love Broadway-style musicals and presentations and I think if the right role happened along, I think I'd probably take something like that, yeah.
I just got my first movie role and I start shooting in April, which is gonna be really fun for me because I've never done anything like this before. I got a role as a villain, a character named Alder Grayson, and the name of the movie is called "House of Eternity". My part is four weeks.
Times Herald-Record: Do you have any plans to put out a new original album?
Tate: Actually, that's one of the reasons we're out touring right now. Course, the first is to promote the "Take Cover" album, and the second is to kind of get us up to speed for performance. We have a new album that we've written and we're in the recording stage now and we plan on hitting the recording studio in March when we get back. I'm not sure when it's gonna come out, but I'm sure we'll be done with it by July.
Times Herald-Record: You recently released a greatest hits album and a cover album and some of your concerts have featured actors and video. What can fans expect at the Chance [in Poughkeepsie on February 6]?
Tate: Well, we have a kind of interesting show. The stage looks kind of like an old vaudeville stage with curtains and gold trim and towers of lights. It looks like a combination of old and new technology, which is kind of fun for us, and there's no video on this particular tour. We chose to go with a focus-on-the-band approach because we're really playing a lot of our past history. We're playing something off each record and we're also focusing on a lot of songs that we haven't played in several years.
YLE News reports that an anti-racism non-governmental organization (NGO) in Tampere, Finland is urging foreigners to avoid downtown areas of the city on Friday evening (February 1). The Rasmus Network against Racism and Xenophobia says police have warned them of possible unrest surrounding a concert (poster) to be staged by four neo-Nazi bands.
The groups — DER STÜRMER (Greece), ABSURD (Germany), GOATMOON (Finland) and SATANIC WARMASTER (Finland) — are scheduled to play at a Tampere heavy metal rock club. According to the club's promoter, Toni Törrönen, the concert was sold out well in advance.
The tour is organized by the Pagan Front record label, which bills itself as "the Hammer of National Socialist Black Metal." The Greek band's website praises the Nazis, while former members of the German band are in prison for murder and neo-Nazi activities.
"Based on the information that we have received from various sources, one of which is the police, this concert is going to draw a large number of extremist right wing nationalists into the city," says Peter Kariuki, coordinator of the Rasmus Network's Tampere chapter.

Headbanger's Blog recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine. An excerpt from the chat is available below:
Headbangers Blog: When did you start seeing signs that (guitarist) Glen Drover might not be happy with what he was doing in the band?
Mustaine: "You know, out of respect for Glen, I’m not gonna really talk too much about that. He was having some stuff that he was dealing with, and we’re talking about someone who left for personal matters. He didn’t get into it, so why should I? I frankly don’t know what [made him want to leave] other than what he told me, which is he wanted to leave to be with his family. Now, Glen is the brother of our drummer, and out of just sheer stupidity you would talk shit about an exiting member when he’s got a sibling in your band, so I’ve got nothing to say. And even if I was mad a Glen, which I’m not, I wouldn’t say anything about it. Glen is a talented player, and he had given the thumbs up to Chris Broderick coming in, and [his brother] Shawn [Drover] is the one who even recommended Chris Broderick. So, I was really excited.
Glen was influenced a lot by Chris Poland, and we don’t play a lot of Megedeth from the Chris Poland era. Chris was totally influenced by Marty Friedman, who we play a lot of music from. It was the longest lineup, and for subsequent guitar players after Marty left, I tried to find people who sounded a little more like him than just kind of going in whatever direction I wanted to.
There was no real rhyme or reason between the choices of a player like Chris Poland, and then jumping to someone like a Jeff Young and then jumping to Marty Friedman. It wasn’t like I was advancing or progressing or following any kind of educational graph to get from Chris to Marty. The good thing now is every song is ready to go. Chris has been down here playing the songs with me. We play them in slow-mo, we film them on video cameras and we’re going over every single note – so much so that we even corrected things that bass and drums were doing wrong while we were doing rehearsal here prior to leaving for the tour. We got deep down in there and found a bunch of stuff that made it even tighter. I loved playing with Glen. This is a new chapter. I think we’ve taken it up a level. I appreciate Glen helping me find Chris. Now it’s time to move on."
