The Moth Gatherer Signs With Agonia Records

Sweden's The Moth Gatherer has inked a deal with Agonia Records. The band's debut album is slated for an April 2013 release, and a short and unmastered preview of the album can be heard below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"The Moth Gatherer's music is hard to label, due to the band's non-one-dimensional approach towards the songs they create; the hardcore/experimental/progressive etiquette seems almost too laconic to fully do justice to the spirit of the compositions. The debut offers up long and complex tracks, but still surprisingly simple and compelling. Abundance of tempo changes and variations that surround the album bask in emotionally charged, progressive yet utterly melodic slower sections, addictive enough to stimulate the imagination."

"We just want our music to be an emotional explosion," comments co-founder Alex. "A lot of the songs are about death, missing people you loved who have passed away and losing hope in mankind. We want the music to make you feel like you can move mountains with it. I wish for that when people hear our music, they start to dream away."

The band is: Alex Stjernfeldt and Victor Wegeborn who both handle: guitars, bass, electronics, vocals, and drums. More...

Meadows End Splits With Guitarist

Swedish act Meadows End has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Stefan Sjölander:

"We have some bad news that will affect the way that Meadows End sound and exist in the future. Unfortunately, Stefan has decided to give up his spot in the band. Due to other obligations and projects he feels that he cannot give Meadows End the 110% it deserves. Stefan is an extremely talented guitarist and musician with great diversity and now he feels that he needs more than just Meadows End to fulfill his needs, therefore he lets his spot go not to halt the bands progress.

"This parting comes in an understanding and we will still love Stefan as a brother and of course wish him all the best in his other projects. Next Friday, our gig in Umeå will be Stefan's last performance with Meadows End. Thank you Stefan, the road changed while you were on board and you will be missed. We salute your honesty. Cheers and good luck!"

Stefan also issued the following statement: "I would like to thank everyone of you for all the support that you guys have given and give Meadows End. I would like nothing else than you to follow that track!

"This is a well thought through and very tough decision that has haunted me for a while but I cannot give Meadows End maximum priority anymore, that's why I've decided to let go of this dream.

"I really wish the band all the best on their continuing journey. We'll still hang out and pester each other like always but this still aches my heart a bit. Thank you so much, all of you! You're the best there is."

Kromosom To Release "Live Forever"

Melbourne-based ragers Kromosom have hooked up with Southern Lord Recordings for first CD release, "Live Forever." The following press release was issued about the band:

"Born in the smoldering wake of now defunct Australian crust acts Schifosi and Pisschrist, and featuring current members of Leprosy, Bloody Hammer and fellow Southern Lord mercenaries Nuclear Death Terror, Kromosom have kicked a massive dent into the international crust/punk/hardcore circuit working under the band doctrine: 'Noisier, nastier, rawer.' Through several vinyl-only indie releases and steady waves of international touring since their 2010 inception the band caught the attention of Southern Lord who now confirms the first CD release in Kromosom’s discography with Live Forever.

"The bruising fifteen-track assault captures all of the band’s material previously only available on vinyl, including their self-titled 12”, tracks from the Hardcore Pollution split 7” with Isterismo, and the Paranoid 7," all mastered for maximum pandemonium by Jack Control (World Burns to Death, Severed Head of State). If this doesn’t get you raging it's time to hang up your boots and join the rest of the sheep.

"Live Forever will hit the streets of North America on January 22nd, 2013, amidst steady, ongoing bursts of live actions through the rest of the year, as Kromosom are already confirmed to invade the continent once again this Spring for Maryland Deathfest, Chaos in Tejas and more." More...

Cognitive Signs With Torture Music

The New Jersey technical death metal outfit Cognitive recently signed to Torture Music Records for the release of an upcoming full-length album, scheduled to hit stores in the latter half of 2013. The label comments:

"Formed in 2011, Cognitive is, despite its young history as a band, already a household name in the underground death metal scene. Having played in 11 states and shared stages with the likes of Macabre, Cattle Decapitation, Waking the Cadaver, and Internal Bleeding, as well as self-released debut EP, 'The Horrid Swarm,' in July 2012, the band shows no signs of slowing down as of winter 2012.

"With their upcoming self-titled full-length, Cognitive will pick up where they left off with 'The Horrid Swarm,' and deliver another release full of unmerciful technicality, pummeling grooves and vicious brutality."

Cognitive also commented, "Thanks to all the fans who have been supporting us this past year! Lets make 2013 even sicker!"

Stratovarius Unveils "Nemesis" Artwork, Track List

Fnnish symphonic metal act Stratovarius, which announced the new LP "Nemesis" yesterday, unveiled the album's artwork and track listing (shown below). The album will come as a standard 11 track edition along with a special edition with two additional bonus track and the album is set to drop on February 22, 2013 via earMusic.

Guitarist/producer Matias Kupiainen commented: “I have more or less lived in the studio for four months, obsessing over every detail. I feel very relieved that we are done and I am very happy with the material and the sound."

Vocalist Timo Kotipelto added: “Making the album this time was easier because we gave it as much time as it needed. We have worked our asses off to make this and we hope the fans will like it."

According to the press release: "The album has it all. From the typical melodic and powerful Stratovarius sound in 'Abandon,' to the aggressive and energetic 'Stand My Ground,' the album represents the new style of the band mixed with good old melodic power metal. Stratovarius' musical approach is today wider and richer than ever. The song 'Fantasy' sounds almost ABBA-esque with its catchy pop tune, but it´s powered by the famous Stratovarius metal sound, louder than ever. 'Out Of The Fog' integrates some folk music elements, with lyrics telling the story of a young person forced to march blindly into battle. The only ballad on the album, 'If The Story Is Over,' is a very emotional song with a grand arrangement that builds up to using the full band and ends with a small female choir.

"The title track 'Nemesis' is a typical Stratovarius song, with echoes of medieval melodies with powerful double bass drumming and the catchy pop melodies from this side of the millennium."

Kotepelto commented on the title track: "The title track of the album; with its modern twist on the myth of Nemesis, it tells a story of a preacher who gives each one what they deserve, good or bad. The song has a very nice riff, cool melodies and a great good old Stratovarius style chorus."

The first single, "Unbreakable," will be released on January 25, 2013 as a special EP. A preview clip and more info on the EP can be found at this location.
