Verkrag, the horror/black metal one-man band presided over by Anton van Niekerk, is set to release it's brand new album "Anti-God" in 2012. A promo clip for the song "Doomsday Prophets" from that upcoming release is posted below. Bloemfontein native van Niekerk also is streaming Verkrag's previous album, "13 Victims," over on the band's website. You may download that album as well.
Johannesburg black metal band Warthane is streaming two new tracks, "Blood Beauty" and "Era Black Divine," online on it's MySpace page by clicking on the radio tab. These two new songs are on the Warthane record "Black Divine," which was just launched in South Africa. Below is an "Era Black Divine" promo shot at the SunFest 2011.
Oregon Christian metal band Saint will enter the studio in early January to begin drum recordings for the forthcoming new LP "Desperate Night". Jared Knowland will produce the album which is expected for a March 2012 release through Retroactive Records.
In other Saint news, the band will reissue the 2006 release "The Mark" under the new name "The Revelation" in late January. The re-issue will also be remastered with a new cover.

"2011 was the best year in our history as a band. Played shows in Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, and of course here in Taiwan, opened for Napalm Death, and released our debut full length album.

Asheville drone band Hurlbat has issued it's new three song promo demo and we are streaming it for you below. You can also download it by going here. Guitarist/vocalist Dave Lynch also plays in the band Enoch. The two-member band also includes Gordon James Wallace on drums/vocals and is influenced by old stoner doom metal.
Legendary NWOBHM band Pagan Altar is set to release a new album in early 2012. Titled "Never Quite Dead," the album has already spawned a couple of uploaded YouTube videos from it. Pagan Altar just released "Dance of the Vampires" below, whose title is inspired by the cult movie classic of the same name. Also to be included on the album is the track "Portrait of Dorian Gray," which was originally released in 2006 on the "Pagan Altar vs Mirror of Deception" split 7". Serbian act Hollow My Eyes has checked in with a new studio video update, which can be viewed below. The band also commented:
"Day 2 of the recordings at studio Headroom in Backi Petrovac, some singing and fooling around included!!!"

Finnish platinum metallers Nightwish have just released the 4th episode of the "Imaginaerum" online game. Check it out by heading over to this location.

California's In Virtue has issued the following announcement about streaming the new album "Embrace the Horror" online:
"In Virtue's new album 'Embrace the Horror,' due for release on the first day of the end of the world, January 1st, is now streaming in it's entirety on Reverbnation.

Seven Deadly, which features former members of the now defunct Panic Cell, has posted a new single online for streaming. A new TV trailer for Primal Fear's upcoming album "Unbreakable" has been posted online and can be viewed below. "Unbreakable" us due out on January 20th, 2012 (EU) and January 24th, 2012 (North America) through Frontiers Records.

Freya has begun tracking the new album "Paragon of The Crucible" at Moresound in Syracuse, NY with Jocko Randall. The band has now checked in with the first studio video update, which you can watch below. "Paragon of the Crucible" will be the follow-up to "All Hail the End" (reviewed here).
Bleeding Through guitarist Dave Nassie has posted an instructional clip online for NextLevelGuitar.com on fast guitar picking for metal songs. Italian melodic death/metalcore outfit Forgotten Tears posted a new music video for the acoustic version of the track "Frail Reality." The original song appears on the band's 2011 debut release "Words to End," which was released this past April through To React Records. The video was shot on December 26, 2011 by Giulia Gargano.

Silent Civilian has issued the following announcement about the band's van going missing:
"ATTENTION ALL VEGAS FANS AND UTAH FANS!!!!! Our van is missing. The individual who has it is a vegas resident with ties to Ogden Utah. If you see our van please contact us immediately via message on Facebook.
"I am looking for a current pic of the van and will post it as soon as I find it. It is a 1996 Chevy 20 conversion van. It has Virginia license plates and is Gold in color. It has a huge Dogtown sticker on either side of the van.
"It is very important that we recover this van as we are leaving on tour next week. We will compensate whoever helps in a successful recovery of this van with a reward. Thanx, Van-less Civilian."

Australian folk/black metal act Hammerstorm, which features Josh Young of Astral Winter, is now in the process of writing and recording a debut full-length. Additional details will be announced as they are made available. Hammerstorm's bio reads as follows:
"Hammerstorm was originally formed as a viking metal band by original members Josh Young and John Walford in mid 2009. During this time several demos we're written but only 2 proper recordings were released.
"Shortly after Hammerstorm went into hiatus, which lasted several months. It was later decided that there was no motivation to continue Hammerstorm in its former direction. In November 2009 Josh recruited a new vocalist 'Surtur' and began writing music in a new direction.
"With this Hammerstorm was reborn under a new genre self described as 'Atmospheric Ambient Black Metal' Hammerstorm is currently in the process of writing material for a full-length album release." More...
The Def Leppard cover of "Photograph" by Greek melodic death metal masters Nightrage is streaming on YouTube. The song was the bonus track on the Japanese pressing of "Insidious" which was released this past October through Lifeforce Records. A review of the album can be found at this location.

Jordan based death/doom band Falling Leaves has posted a new track online titled "Reaching My Last Haven," which will be appearing on the band's upcoming "Mournful Cry of a Dying Sun" album. Check out the song below.
"Mournful Cry of a Dying Sun" features a guest appearance by Novembers Doom member Paul Kuhr, with further guest spots by Niclas Frohagen (Forest of Shadows), Pim Blankenstein (Officium Triste), and Natalie Koskinen (Depressed Mode).

Norwegian black metal band So Much For Nothing has posted a video teaser for the forthcoming debut album "Livsgnist." The album is due for release on January 16, 2012 through My Kingdom Music.
