He says that the riffs are written and all the ideas are there, they're just trying different arrangement ideas right now. We talked about how we're back to the usual routine of trying to find new ways to say the same old 'the band is writing the cd', and he said 'It's hard to say. Every day is different, we're just doing our thing & trying to make the tunes cool. You put something together one day and then come back the next day & listen to it; sometimes it's cool, & sometimes it sucks & you have to change things around.' They're still hoping to be done with the cd by spring."

Yahoo News has issued the following report about shock rocker Marilyn Manson settling a lawsuit with former band member Stephen Bier:
A contentious lawsuit between Marilyn Manson and former bandmate Stephen Bier has been settled without the multimillion judgment the keyboardist initially sought, court records show. An agreement calls for attorneys representing former Bier to be paid $380,000. Manson's insurance company will pay $175,000 while the rest will be paid by Bier's former business managers, Manson's attorney Howard King said.
Bier sued the shock rocker for $20 million in 2007, claiming the singer kept money from him and spent it to furnish a lavish lifestyle buying Nazi memorabilia, an engagement ring and other exotic goods. Manson denied Bier's claims and said Bier didn't properly perform his duties as a band member.
Bier, who went by the stage name Madonna Wayne Gacy, was among the original members of Manson's band when it was known as Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids. The case had been scheduled to go to trial this month after frequent delays and months of fighting between the two sides over depositions, documents and scheduling.More...

Edit: Because of the distortion in the (stairwell when this interview took place some words were not translated right) I do apologize to Derek Kerswill for some of the misinterpretations so everyone can flame me instead of him. Keep in mind that we were in a busy stairwell and their was "noise" that interfered with the audio recording.
When we all think of metalcore, we tend to cling on to the bands that made this genre mediocre at best. People forget that the metalcore lies on a broad spectrum and bands such as Bullet for My Valentine would never be allowed to tour with Converge, God Forbid, or the Dillinger Escape Plan. One of the big names of the metalcore scene is a band called Unearth. Unearth has been around since the early 2000’s but never really got the full recognition that they deserved. There are bands like: As I Lay dying, All that Remains, and Trivium, and there are bands like Unearth. One of the major factors that separate Unearth from the rest of the metalcore bands perhaps lies within the original, crisp breakdowns they write.
I sat down with drummer Derek Kerswill at the House of Blues. He forewarned me that he was rather loquacious, and the interview was nearly a half hour but a lot of information was acquired as I can describe Kerswill as a man with strong convictions about his drumming. More...

"D.H.S.P.S. is a personal dedication to Commander Lalith Prasanna Edirisinghe, Nero and all of the 8 members of the D.S.Senanayake College Baseball team who lost their lives to a senseless suicide bomb attack by the Terrorist organization, L.T.T.E."

Massachusetts based metal act Armory has issued the following update about working on a new album and streaming new cover songs online via the band's MySpace page:
"It is about time that we let people know just what the heck we’ve been doing for the past couple of years. No, we have not been simply sitting on our arses! We have been working tirelessly on our second album, to be entitled ‘Empyrean Realms’. Actually, the seeds for this album took root as early as 2003. The music developed gradually in depth and breadth amidst the re-recording of our debut, ‘The Dawn Of Enlightenment’ in the mid 2000s. By spring 2008, virtually all of the music was composed for the nine songs that will become our follow-up album. Right now we are in the studio, completely immersed in the recording process. In fact, the drums and guitars are already completely tracked! On our myspace profile page, we have posted a compilation video of the drum and guitar tracking to give fans a sneak preview of what this album has in store. Please comment and let us know what you think! We are very excited about this album and look forward to releasing it to the metal community. The arduous work composing and endless hours in the studio are paying off, as musically everything is coming together better than we could have imagined. ‘Empyrean Realms’ will certainly be a huge step forward for the band. Swiss death metallers Omophagia have issued the following recording update:
"Hi folks. Let me give you guys a brief update about what’s going in our bunker. After an intense period of writing new songs and bringing the arrangements to perfection, we fortunately managed to finalize the tracks on time. So that even the drummer had some days left to practice his patterns. As scheduled, we’ve entered the studio on December 18 to start with the drum tracks. We knew that this year’s Christmas Eve would be special… There was no possibility to extensively kick back with our beloved ones as we’ve spent most of the time in our stinky studio. Somehow I feel sorry for that.
"BUT: The work was definitely worth it!!! All of the drum parts are done now. (There will be some video updates soon…). To some extent the drum parts were pretty challenging for me to play… and honestly: Quite few times I could curse the freaking metronome. However, beer, redbull and pizza helped to hang in there. I hope, you will like the drumming…
"As the drum records were done faster than anticipated, we have now been able to start with the guitars. I am really amazed about the guitar sound. It just sounds killing! By the way: we’re looking forward to our next gig on January 23 at the Rotting Tank Festival! Hope to see you there. Ok guys, that’s it for the moment. Stay tuned!
