Beyond the Shore has released a new lyric video for the song "Dreamkiller," which comes off the "Ghostwatcher" album and can be viewed below. The band also issued the following statement about its sound and lyrical content:
"Among the thousands of metal/hardcore bands flooding the scene, its rare to find a band with a positive message and unique music. With lyrics depicting both spiritual as well as heart-felt messages, this band has been captivating their audience and taking the stage by storm. Beyond the Shore is a mix of metal and hardcore, which results in a metal-core band ready to destroy when they take the stage. From hammering melodic riffs followed by explosive breakdowns, machine gun sounding drums and such brutal vocals comes a band of close friends that are blessed to do what they love so passionately."

Mindcage is presently completing new album "Our Own Devices" under the helm of famed rock and metal producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Megadeth, Mötley Crüe, W.A.S.P., Overkill, Accept) at his WireWorld Studios. The band is very excited to stay in Nashville the entire month of December and work with Michael Wagener to realize this extraordinary vision.
Set in an alternate future, Mindcage's concept album "Our Own Devices," warns of what may become of our society if we turn our backs on the importance of arts, music, humanities, and spirituality. It also introduces the world to Arabella Vash, a woman on a mission to awaken and enlighten a world gone wrong. Her message will shake humanity to its very core.
Guitarist Dietrick Hardwick comments, "We are very excited to announce that we have chosen Julie Westlake (Hydrogyn) as the voice of Arabella Vash for 'Our Own Devices.' Julie has the power and emotion in her voice needed to convey Arabella's journey and character. She sounds amazing and has a command and range of voice that is just uncanny. It's also been a real dream come true for us to work with one of the greatest record producers of all time, the legendary Michael Wagener. We couldn't be happier!"
"This has just been an extraordinary experience, seeing how everything is coming together. The band works so efficiently with Michael Wagener that they have finished recording ahead of schedule and are now entering the mix phase," cites Executive Producer Ben Galecki, "Michael really knows how to decipher what the band is going for and get the absolute best from them. This is going to be epic!"
Edmonton's mischievous metallers All Else Fails gave fans a mission last month asking them to help reach 10,000 likes on Facebook, and in return drummer Shane Tym would get his ass tattooed.
The call was answered and the mission was accomplished as fans rushed and shared AEF's fan page around the web like wild fire. Just a few days after reaching that 10,000 mark, Tym had bassist Seedy Mitchell's face tattooed to his right cheek. Video of the event, complete with every ass pun possible, is available below.

Belgium's Leng Tch'e has checked in with the following statement about gearing up to work on a new album in 2013:
"Well apart from a bunch of New Age authors laughing all the way to the bank, the world is still the same as yesterday. A beautiful place occasionally ruined by assholes. But that doesn't mean 2012 wasn't a great year for us!
"We started off by joining Origin and Psycroptic for the most brutal tour of the year, followed by a succesful summer festival season. Serge still doesn't remember half of what happened at Obscene Extreme Festival.
"This year also marks the 10th anniversary of our debut album 'Death by a Thousand Cuts.' Yes we are getting old. And yes, it's still sold out.
"But that's not all, we're nearly finished with the songwriting of our next album! Pre-production will start in February and hopefully we can finish our next masterpiece of brutally grooving grindcore by summertime. Which means we'll bring this retarded circus back on the road in late 2013."

Children of Bodom drummer Jaska Raatikainen has checked in with the following update about gearing up to enter the recording studio tomorrow (December 28th):
"Yo! Today we had the last rehearsals before entering the studio tomorrow to record drums for the new album.
"Last two days have been quite intensive. Playing the songs over and over again, lots of fuck ups and broken drum sticks, sweating, frustration, coffee and what have you, a little bit of arranging and all that shit.
"I am convinced that the new songs are great. A little bit of black metal, heavy metal, metal, old school death metal, melodies, solos and anything you need to make a nice album. And the most important, new ideas à la COB!
"Stay tuned, studio reports will follow. Now I think I am ready for a beer! KIPPIS!"
This upcoming new album will be the follow-up to Children of Bodom's 2011 full-length release "Relentless Reckless Forever" (reviewed here).

Continents has released a second behind the scenes studio update from the band's forthcoming release "Idle Hands," due out January 22nd, 2013.
Guitarist Tom Weaver and Darryl Sweet get to work and take fans through the recording process at Studio Six in Swindon, England with producer Stu McKay. Watch all of the shenanigans below, or find the previously posted video clip at this location.
Guitarist Darryl Sweet commented, “The build up to recording of Idle Hands was intense. We were desperately trying to polish off the material we already had and still were writing most of the lead guitars while in the studio. That worked in our favor though; it meant that we could continue to be creative there rather than laying down riffs we've had for months. We spent a long time getting our guitars to sound the way we wanted. We tried a few amps, many guitars and over a day on mic placement alone. What we got was killer; a real nice blend of warm low end and high end clarity." More...

France's hardcore/black metal outfit The Phantom Carriage will release a second full-length titled "Falls" as a 12" vinyl this coming February 28th via Throatruiner Records, Braincrushing Records, and Theatre Records.
The album's eight tracks were recorded by Franck Hueso (Deathspell Omega, Hacride), while the artwork was designed by Romain Barbot. You can now stream a track titled "Dreamers Will Never Stop Dreaming" through the Bandcamp player below. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"With this second full-length, Poitiers' The Phanton Carriage annihilate the remaining boundaries between black metal and dark hardcore. This time focusing on the most extreme side of their sound, 'Falls' brings the band's unique approach to the next level, invoking reminiscences of various acts such as Deathspell Omega, Cave In, Comity, Deafheaven or Kickback.
"Songs such as 'Dreamers Will Never Stop Dreaming' or 'Today We Stand' reveal how much the band has improved their songwriting abilities, burying the listener under piles of epic & technical riffs, labyrinthic structures and unearthly vocals. By throwing into their chaos some more unorthodox influences they gained from their other past and actual experiences, The Phantom Carriage prove that they are digging deeper than your average 'blackened hardcore' band. And they will take you with them." More...

Visions of Atlantis also has the following upcoming tour dates in 2013: More...
It was announced yesterday that Thinning the Herd's drummer had passed away after being in a car accident and now the band's guitarist/vocalist Gavin has issued the following statement about continuing with the band:
"Being in a band is about being friends. In shock and in tears over the loss of my friend and bandmate, I have to think of the band. I named the band Thinning the Herd when my father Steven A. Spielman passed, to cope with the loss.
"Rick would want me to keep writing for Thinning the Herd. If I stop, I would not be doing his legacy service. His drumming on the new record is some of the best rock I have heard, and I want you guys to hear it.
"Thank god for this guy, what a gift as a friend, brother and band mate. For anyone who jams with others, anyone who lets another into that higher conscious world - you might understand the depth of how one can integrate and nurture the spirit." More...
