"Australian heavy music label Skull and Bones Records are very pleased to announce the latest addition to our family, Saviour; a melodic hardcore/metal act from the north coast of Perth, Western Australia, performing an energetic and angst driven style that combines the heaviness of Parkway Drive with the unharnessed emotion of Carpathian and dark melodic sensibilities of The Ghost Inside.
"Bursting onto the scene in 2009 with their high octane live performances and a slew of original material, this 5-piece have since played many successful live shows, built a solid following and supported heavyweight acts such as All Shall Perish, Emmure, For The Fallen Dreams, Stick To Your Guns, The Amity Affliction and Confession along the way.
"Saviour's debut full-length album, 'Once We Were Lions,' is a collection of 13 tracks showcasing their ability to seamlessly forge harmony and dissonance through angst driven emotional performances expressing both positivity, contemplation and lament. From the driving first single, 'Vomit,' to the crushingly heavy 'Scarecrow,' the beautifully emotional 'Evelette' or the bouncing new school vibe of 'Atlantis,' the album is a first class, very impressive and dynamic debut offering for listeners of heavy music everywhere. Canadian blackened doom metal outfit Woods of Ypres have released another new song from their forthcoming new album, "Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light," available February 13th, 2012.
The new track, titled "Traveling Alone," is streaming now on the Metal Hammer Germany website.
The track appears on a German-language site, but English readers should find the track without any hassle. Additionally, the site includes a slide show of the band in various environments, which fits well with the song's traveling theme.
Woods of Ypres front man, David Gold comments on the track:
"When lead guitarist Joel Violette and I were deciding how to title this song, I suggested 'Customs', 'Kuwait' and 'Traveling Alone'. Joel voted for 'Traveling Alone' because it was a broader concept that we thought lots of metalheads could relate to, hoping it would create some intrigue.
"The song is about travel to a foreign land, the meeting between people of different cultures and a discussion of an interrogative nature about existence and God, inspired by my travels to Kuwait to work as a teacher last year.
"The 'Traveler' claims to be traveling alone and has 'nothing else to declare' and the local challenges the reasons for his beliefs. The traveler understands why a culture might believe in God if they live in abundance and therefore believe to have seen evidence of a God who loves and cares for people, while someone who does not live in abundance and has not seen evidence of God might not believe in the existence of one at all. See the lyrics: 'When I look around you, I understand why you believe. I see your evidence of God, all around me. You have so therefore you are, but I have not. You are too rich for hate, and I'm too poor to love'.
"The song arrangement is quite traditional, with an intro, verses, soaring choruses, a solo bridge, a spoken word breakdown and a crushing modern rock outro.
"We hope you enjoy it."

Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has stirred up controversy by hinting that Dream Theater may have borrowed a bit too much influence from the band Red. He alleges that the Red song "Feed the Machine" is incredibly similar to the Dream Theater tune "Build Me Up, Break Me Down." This series of quotes came about on Portnoy's ProgBlog when he responded to a thread about John Petrucci's top album pick of 2011 on the Roadrunner site. For the full article, go to this site.
"Check out the first song on [John Petrucci's] fave album of the year…. WOW, the arrangement and orchestration sounds awfully familiar!! Surely it must be an intentional 'nugget' for the fans… It couldn't possibly be blatant formula plagiarism, now could it…?? I just have to laugh…Hey…I'm not trying to start a war…. and I am indeed totally in a happy place in my life and career… I'm just merely making an observation and posting openly on my own forum like I always have and always will… If anybody ELSE wants to blow this up, it's their choice and doing…not mine! And PS – to defend music that I co-wrote/arranged (that were cited previously in this thread), there's a difference between 'inspiration corner'/'copping a certain vibe' and blatantly re-writing an existing song or formula section by section…"

Rhapsody/Rhapsody Of Fire guitarist/co-founder Luca Turilli provided an exclusive interview with Markus Wosgien, head of promotion for Nuclear Blast Records regarding the amicable split and future of Rhapsody Of Fire and his new Luca Turilli's Rhapsody project.
Turilli explained the recent amicable split between the two bands: "First of all let me tell you that Alex (Staropoli) and I had a lot of fun while hearing some comments following the announcement of the friendly split of RHAPSODY OF FIRE. In particular, I heard the comments of some people imagining a lot of weird things or thinking that I was the one who left the band because of this or that reason. Honestly this is really absurd and nothing is more untrue.
"The only reality is that in the end of 2010 Alex and I, together - and I underline: together -, agreed that after FROM CHAOS TO ETERNITY (the 10th official RHAPSODY OF FIRE album which closed the cycle of releases related with our saga), we would have went on with our careers separately. This because after 20 years of great and unique collaboration the feeling, while working together, was not the same anymore and so, due to the strong respect we have for each other, we decided to take this important decision.
We also agreed everything about the way the band split and the fact of keeping for both the name RHAPSODY, in respect of all the unique efforts and the personal economical investment we both made in these years to make this name stronger and stronger in the market. So, again, all was decided really in a friendly way between two people respecting themselves at all levels. Therefore no conspiracy theories or something like that ha ha, instead just the honest will of proceeding separately in order to find new artistic stimulations. Be also sure that there won’t be any competition between the two RHAPSODY bands, we are too old for those kind of games ha ha. I love Alex and want for him the best possible success. I also take the chance of wishing the best to the new members of RHAPSODY OF FIRE: TOM HESS and ROBERTO DE MICHELI. They are great people and ultra-skilled musicians, a sure guarantee of great music at the highest artistic levels for all the fans of Alex and Fabio’s band!" More...
