In a recent update, Burzum mastermind Varg Vikernes announced that he will be changing the name of his forthcoming new album from "The White God" to "Belus." You can read his message below:
"When I used the name 'The White God' for my next album I had no idea it would stir up so much fear and irrational emotions. To me this is just a nickname of Baldur, whom the album is all about. No ambiguity intended. The truth is I announced the release of The White God at this early point to ease the pressure on the www.burzum.org host. He was getting tired of having to tell individuals contacting him that he didn't know when the next album would be due, what its name was going to be or anything else. With the article this problem was solved.
"With a title including the word 'white' it apparently isn't possible to slip under the radar of the racist Western media. To take away their excuse to spread their anti-Varg/anti-Burzum hate-propaganda when (and before) the album is released I have decided to change the album title. These self-loathing fools have no interest in the music anyway, and because of that I don't want their attention - and I won't get it if I use a title that doesn't give them an excuse to attack me. The documentary was created by Bill Zebub (Grimoire Of Exalted Deeds Magazine, Metal Retardation, Breaking Her Will et al) and will be released on December 8, 2009.
Aosoth has issued the following announcement about streaming the track "Inner War" online at their MySpace page:
"So it is done. It's been one of my expectations for a decade now to re record this one specific track that had a demo recording condition on the previous release of Antaeus & as a symbol, since the rage within Antaeus is still there & will remain for now, we did get to expose a newer bleeding to this track & we are proud to share it around with those into Antaeus. Aosoth, my 'actual' band, has been performing this track since the first live ritual & we will go on, since for all of us, it has a special meaning considering that Antaeus is not a live performing band & that track is one symbol of audio violence to us, we are paying an homage to what is 'IT' for us.
"Give us your impression, hate it, crave for the original one more with all its mistake & the one take only opportunity with mixing screwing over anything I would have done myself AT LEAST NOW I am satisfied for something burnt down on cd live with Antaeus : it was perfect so is the aosoth version nowadays live just the audio recording was not as I wanted. Anyway enough with the bullshit those willing to give it a try can & to the rest, as usual : FUCK OFF"

Catholicon has issued the following update about releasing a new album and DVD box set:
"Blasphyre here. OK, there is much to say. Sorry I have been away from the site for a very long time; but it's been crucial to get all of the work completed for our final release so that there could be something to really talk about. There's alot of news here so bear with me!
"As most people know, I amicably parted ways (business-wise) with label partner and Catholicon bassist Gilles de Rais. He still runs Negativity Records and has put out a lot of great things and has many great things yet to come. Teratism's 'Via Negativa' record is especially going to be a landmark release when that comes out. I've re-lauched UW Records (who released the first Catholicon album 11 years ago) as my own micro-label in order to get the new and final Catholicon record 'Of Ages Past' released in a manner and timetable that myself and the rest of the band would be pleased with. That work is finally complete and the first new release on UW Records is nearly done with the manufacturing process. The DVD-ROM shipped off to press this morning, and it was the final piece of the puzzle. I can safely now give an approx. shipping date of December 20-25'th as a firm release date. More...
Destroyer 666 has issued the following announcement about their show in Belgium on December 11th being canceled:
"We don't know why, but the Belgium show has been can canceled. My hunch is it's due to incompetence. Our apologies to our Belgium fans. Its beyond our control. If anyone hears about this on those pissant forums people seem to populate that D666 is to blame, please let me know."
Norway's Gorelord, who had previously announced their new album would be released in March 2009, has issued the following update about pushing back the release again:
"Hell(o) bastards! Been getting many emails from fans asking me when the fuck I will be releasing the new album..... the answer to that is.... I do not know boys and girls. Sorry. The life of yours truly these days consist of many things, but music just isn't one of them. I have my business to run. I'm building my first house with my girlfriend. I have been getting somewhat back into watching movies and relaxing whenever time permits me, and to be honest, music is the last thing on my mind. I don't even listen to music anymore unless it's in a film I watch.
"I will not sit down and force myself into recording when the inspiration is close to pulseless. I might wake up tomorrow with a ton of ideas in my head and a will to record, but as of right now, those ideas and that will is living in absence on a different planet. I know many of you are waiting for my new album, and it's been fucking ages since I started the motherfucker, but somewhere along the process something just died inside, and I felt the need to put my time into more important things... things I can execute with true passion... much like I did with music when I started years ago."I still wake up from time to time with a riff in my head. I grab my cellphone and press record and get that riff saved for the day when I finally sit down and turn it into an actual song. I probably have 3 records worth of riffs on my damn cell, but when 24 hours should have been 48 in order to get done what needs to be done, I choose to do what I feel is right for me right now! "Working with him was great. A no brainer. He is a fan of Powerman 5000 and we also share the same interests in horror and sci-fi. When I walked into his FX shop (Almost Human) and saw some of the work he had done in the past, I knew the band was in good hands." More...
Stream of Passion has posted the first tour diary from their "Beauty and the Beast" tour alongside Atrocity, Elis, and Sirenia. Excerpts from the report follow:
"November 13, 2009 - Stadthalle, Lichtenfels (DE) It's 2am and we've gathered in Tilburg with the whole band to leave for Stuttgart (our meeting point with the tour-bus and the rest of the bands) in a rented bus. We planned on sleeping before we left but out of excitement and drinks we totally forgot about it! So the bus gets there, we load our stuff and off we go!
"The ride is fun and we arrive at the Stuttgart airport a bit later than planned; not a problem, since the tour-bus hasn't arrived. We load out all our stuff and are standing outside the gate waiting... and waiting... and waiting some more... Turns out because of some technical problems the bus was late and scheduled to arrive at 12:30pm instead of the planned 10:00am. In the meantime the guys of Sirenia arrive and join us for the wait; I had no idea Ailyn the band's lead singer actually comes from Spain, just as she didn't know I'm from Mexico; while making conversation we figured out, and were immediately thrilled with the idea of being able to talk some Spanish! Switch Off Safety has issued the following announcement about parting ways with their drummer:
"Brian's no longer in the fucken band!!!!? That's fuckin right. Brian is no longer with S.O.S. As we all know, the kid was unstable at best. We came to practice last week to find him naked in the basement closet with a loaded shotgun and a handful of mashed potatoes. Needless to say he was sent back to Warm Springs. It was a fun ride brother. Wish it could have been different."

Gothic metallers Tristania have issued the following announcement about recording a new album:
"Hello friends. We have been awfully quiet the last few months, I know, but we´ve not been lazy! I still can´t reveal any more details on when the new album is coming out, but I can tell you a little about where we stand right now!
"We have now written all the songs that are going to appear on the album. Me and Anders sat down this entire weekend and worked through every detail, turning every stone. There are still a few minor changes to be made, but all in all the songs are done. It´s going to be diverse and varied like before, and both me and Anders agree that it still sounds unmistakably like Tristania. I don´t feel like blowing up expectations too much, but there are a couple of tracks that are really going to treat the fans of large, powerful, melancholic metal.
"We have not started the studio sessions yet, but the preparations are going strong. We are going to record the album in a couple of different studios in Norway this time, and have our producer/mixer mix it in a studio of his choice. I have visited several studios in the Oslo area to check out their availability, and if I feel like it is the right place to record our songs. I must say that especially the studio that we intend to record the drums in really impressed me. They have hi-end real vintage gear, and an amazing room, that should really be able to catch the atmosphere and make it really heavy! More...
Massachusetts based punk-rock-metal band MONGREL has recently parted ways with their label, Screaming Ferret Wreckords. The split from the label was amicable after it was decided that band and the label were looking to go in different directions. Mongrel is now a free agent and is currently exploring options for the release of their upcoming full length cd "This Means War", still slated for release in the spring of 2010. Mongrel guitarist Adam Savage had this to say about the split, "We have nothing bad to say about our relationship with the label and it was out of mutual respect for what each of us wanted to do that we decided to go our separate ways. We are very excited about the new possibilities this brings up and look forward to getting the next album out in the spring."
Mongrel's latest release is the 5 song "Revenge" EP which was released on Halloween 2009 on Screaming Ferret Wreckords / Immolation Records. Reviews of the new EP have been overwhelmingly positive and the EP itself is available on i-tunes, amazon, shockhound, and at bandcamp.com where it is available for "name your own price" downloads. Mongrel's first full length album "Fear, Lies, & Propaganda" was re-released in April 2008 by Screaming Ferret Wreckords / Locomotive Records.
Mongrel had a busy 2009, including a northeast US tour with punk legends FEAR, playing with KORN, and spending a good portion of the year in the studio working on the "Revenge" EP and upcoming album "This Means War." The band will wrap up the year with a couple of home area shows, December 9th at the Middle East (Downstairs) in Cambridge MA supporting Psychostick, and December 12th for an all ages matinee at Tammany Hall in Worcester, MA.

The album was recorded at Geller Cellar Studios in New York and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall), and like previous TTEOTD releases, it features cover art by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Trivium).
Guitarist Justin Longshore commented on the new release: "Our new record 'Skepsis' finally captures the sound we've always envisioned. We really wanted to raise the bar with this one but also keep the consistency that Through The Eyes Of The Dead is known for. Overall, everyone has become better at their instruments and it really shows on the record. I have no doubt in my mind that new and old fans of the band will be pleased when they hear it!" More...

Canadian extreme metal outfit KATAKLYSM is in full writing mode at the moment for the follow up to the very successful “Prevail” album. Guitarist J-F Dagenais recently offered the following update regarding the bands progress writing the follow up to the bands 2008 release “Prevail,” released via Nuclear Blast Records:
"I’m really excited to be deep into the writing process for the new KATAKLYSM album! The band is more focused then ever. This album will be different then ‘Prevail’ but will still have the classic KATAKLYSM trademarks and hooks. You will see a much more intricate record then we’ve done in the past. It will contain some really fast and dynamic parts but we also aim for a very melodically driven record that will contain lots of technical parts that we haven’t explored much lately. No worries though, the bone crushing grooves are always a must with KATAKLYSM and will be present.
"I’ve also seen Maurizio's lyrics for this album so far and let me tell you that they hit really hard! I know it’s a very personal album to him as he is going through some tough times in his personal life, so I’m not worried about what he will bring to this record. Expect a very real, aggressive and determined KATAKLYSM album. We know we have set the bar high for ourselves but we are confident to deliver the goods once again!
"On the production end, I will handle the recording as usual but for the mix we have decided to enlist Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SUICIDE SILENCE, WINDS OF PLAGUE, DARK TRANQUILITY) again from Denmark. We feel he captured the bands sound best on ‘In the Arms of Devastation’ and that we’re a winning team. We’re going to make sure you have the best sounding record to date!"
On Christmas day, KATAKLYSM will reveal the new album title for their upcoming release on their Facebook, Twitter and Myspace pages. The album is tentatively scheduled for release for late Summer/early Fall 2010.

Nu-metal veterans Limp Bizkit have announce that they will be naming their new album, "Gold Cobra." This will be the band's first full length album since 2003's, "Results May Vary" and their first album with guitarist Wes Borland since the 2000 smash hit "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavoured Water." The album will be released through Interscope Records in the early part of next year.
Speaking on the album title, lead vocalist Fred Durst stated: "The name of the new Limp Bizkit album is Gold Cobra. We will slowly be revealing the meaning of the title over the next few weeks. Cobras are quite venomous. I wish it were a much longer, more ridiculous title, but Gold Cobra is as ridiculous as we're going to get right now."
In a recent update, former Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane vocalist Blaze Bayley has revealed that his solo band was recently harassed and attacked after performing a concert in Agrino, Greece. Two men reportedly hit a member of the band's entourage with their scooter before following them back to their van and throwing a brick through their window. An account from Bayley himself reads as follows:
"Agrinio was crazy - a really intimate packed-out gig with plenty of crazy fans and the odd crowd-surfer.
"After the fantastic gig we stopped on the way back to the hotel at a late-night pie shop. I was talking to support act Fury UK's manager when two drugged-up youths on a scooter drove towards him.
"I grabbed him out of the way so he wasn't hurt, just dazed. The scooter boys seemed to think it was our fault - but we'd been standing at the side of the road and they were coming at us at 30 miles an hour.
"It didn't stop there - they followed our van, and at traffic lights the weedy-looking one on the back managed to throw a large brick, shattering the side window and narrowly missing our manager. Lucky for us, no one was seriously hurt. The cowards ran away before we could clobber them. It was a horrible end to a great night.
"Now all the money from the gig goes towards replacing the van window. It hasn't put me off Greece - but I never thought pies would be so dangerous."

And hence, have been drummerless since early June this year after good friend, Trevor Owen parted ways once again. But recently we have been rehearsing with a new drummer, and prospects are looking good at this stage Fingers crossed this person will work out, and if so, an update will be made in the not too distant future to reveal the creatures identity!"
You can check out some of Naetu's music on their MySpace page.
