BrooklynVegan is now presenting "King Worm," the latest new track to be revealed off Comadre's upcoming self-titled album. Check out the track right here or in teh player below.
BrooklynVegan's Fred Pessaro writes, "My best guess is that you'd probably call Bay Area band Comadre's sound an offshoot of screamo, but that dirty word is far from fitting for a band this adventurous. On their self-titled effort, the band mixes bits of emotional hardcore with post-punk, Murder City Devils-style punk-n-roll, and all manner of rocking..."
The following press release was also issued about the album: "Out January 8th on Vitriol Records, 'Comadre' sees the long-running Redwood City, CA band wield a newfound command of melody and structure, incorporating trumpets, pianos, organs, accordions, and tambourines into the mix. The album was produced by Comadre guitarist Jack Shirley who has also recorded albums for Graf Orlock and Ghostlimb.

Gristle up your holiday caroling with “Cross Damnation," the first single from Joel Grind's "The Yellowgoat Sessions" offering. Recorded as a Toxic Holocaust return-to-form of sorts (think the "Critical Mass" demo), "The Yellowgoat Sessions" are raw, unrefined, reverbed out, distorted to hell and violently delicious.
Comments Joel Grind of the release: “I decided to not call this a Toxic Holocaust record for a few reasons. The main one being that Toxic has sort of morphed from being a solo project to now being a full band. That's not saying you won’t see other ‘solo’ Toxic material, but for right now it's definitely a solid band. Also, this record is definitely less thrash and more dirty rock ‘n’ roll. Finally, I didn't want to just slap the Toxic name on it to sell it. I recorded this because I was anxious to record something like this again without over thinking things.”
The track “Cross Damnation" is currently available as a free download with the optional suggested donation of $1.00 via Bandcamp here. The full album will be released digitally January 15th, 2013 with vinyl to follow in late February via Acid Rat Records. You can preview the album at YouTube here. More...

Be prepared to have your face peeled back by Brooklyn-based quintet Cleanteeth: a collective of veteran musicians with previous attachments to notable acts Destructo Swarmbots, Hull, and more, as well as current members of Goes Cube and White Widows.
Cleanteeth recently recorded a debut LP, which will be released in early 2013 on a label to be confirmed in the near future. In the meantime check out newly acquired live footage of the unit destroying Saint Vitus Bar as direct support for Eyehategod at the end of November via Metal Injection. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Formed in early 2008 as an experimental noise project, Cleanteeth has since evolved into a crushing array of loud rock, doom metal and electronic noise, influenced by the likes of Karp, Butthole Surfers, Godflesh and My Bloody Valentine, yet with a crushing, sinister, post-hardcore edge fans of Kiss It Goodbye, Breach and Will Haven can get down with. Following a three-song demo recorded with Brendan Tobin (Made Out Of Babies, Red Sparowes) on Halloween of 2009, the outfit’s underwent several personnel expansions, the current lineup just one member short of a six-pack now complete.
"Now, bringing forth their triple-guitarist attack boasting more full-stacks than band members, Cleanteeth takes a wall-of-sound approach to creating its own bastard blend of thunderous riffage. With this ruthless faction continually raiding clubs throughout the NYC area and beyond, the band has shared beer-soaked stages with Eyehategod, Kylesa, Priestess, Saviours, Harvey Milk, All Pigs Must Die, Narrows, Trap Them and many others, and will continue to bleed ears dry as new gigs are being devised for the coming months and through 2013." "The five-piece outfit changes a bit of their style by adding not one but two vocalists to the band’s sound. With a hard, scream-styled vocal and a softer cleaner sounding vocal, both styles add new dynamics to the bands already hard and progressive sound introducing complex layers and more emotion to the music. The vocal additions are sure to please both old and new fans alike as the band continues to mature their sound with tracks like ‘Omnes In Pulverem’, ‘The Lucifer Experiment’ and ‘Epiphany.'"
The album's track listing is as follows:
1. Omnes in Pulverem
2. These Chains
4. The Lucifer Experiment

English metallers Aeon Zen are back with their latest opus entitled "Enigma," which is a concept album featuring nine continuous tracks showing the strengths of the band, as well as two bonus tracks. "Enigma" will be released January 22nd, 2013 on Nightmare Records. The album is available for pre-order through the Nightmare Records website.
Today Aeon Zen is excited to share a new video with the masses. Check out the video for "Divinity" in the player below. Aeon Zen's founder Rich Hinks says of the new video:
"Divinity shows a whole new side to Aeon Zen. There's still all the elements that make it an Aeon Zen song, but there's a ton more energy and heaviness, and even more technicality than we've ever put on a record before. Our goal for this track was to make a song that grabs you by the balls and doesn't let up until the final blow." More...
On day two of the world’s most metal cruise, Municipal Waste was playing the smaller Spectrum Lounge for the group’s first performance of the cruise. The band played fast and loose with its brand of "party metal" crossover thrash. Just a few songs into the set, some metal heads in the crowd got the idea to grab the chairs that are on wheels and roll around in the mosh pit area of the main floor. It looked a lot like bumper cars, but then other people began pushing them or grabbing hold of arms of people in the chairs and slinging them through the pit, causing some high speed collisions and overturned chairs.
Soon after this began, Municipal Waste frontman Tony Foresta commented on how they are “the shortest band in metal” and asked the crowd for a circle pit. With the lights in his face and his short stature, it appeared he couldn’t see what was going on behind the people up front at the barrier. As the band launched into their next song, the pit erupted into more chaos as moshers attempted a circle pit around the chair pit to little avail.
It was a surreal experience, but it looked FUN! The crowd would attempt to do the same during other thrash sets like Bonded By Blood and Havok, but no other pit compared to Municipal Waste’s rolling chair pit on Barge to Hell.
Being unable to zoom out and capture the whole scene, this video really doesn’t do the chair pit justice, but it’s all I’ve got to give an idea of what was going on:
A full Barge To Hell report is forthcoming, as well as tons of photos from the metal cruise.
Be sure to check back next Tuesday as we share more mosh pit stories from metal bands.
