"The waiting has come to an end. Pestilence has found a new drummer for the upcoming U.S. tour and maybe even the next Pestilence album! After, actually, a short period of time, after many mails and auditionings, our minds (Patrick Mameli and Patrick Uterwijk's) were already set in the same direction. Somebody caught our attention. Someone really special and driven. His blasts and double-bass drum parts are amazing and furious!! His way of thinking about Peter (Wildoer's) parts are phenomenal and give just the right vibe to the already recorded songs for the 'Resurrection Macabre' album. Video footage of the infamous audition will follow shortly.
"His name is Yuma Van Eekelen. Remember that name! He's gonna be VERY BIG pretty soon! He is a very worthy replacement of Peter Wildoer, who will remain a drumgod! Let's go back to Yuma for a second! Marduk is really a true contender for one of the best second wave acts of black metal. Having been around since the 1990’s, Marduk has been around for quite sometime. Their message of past ravages of war, blood, the Third Reich, and their fascination of the occult has sparked controversy, but does not hinder the share tenacity of their lyrics; overshadowing the majority of other black metal acts that try to model after them. When I missed them with Mayhem this year, I thought that the chances of me interviewing and seeing them live would be minuscule because of the visa incident that prevented them from playing in the United States. Fortunately, I found out that they were playing at Reggie’s in Chicago, so I could not pass up the opportunity to see them and ask some questions. Morgan "Evil" Steinmeyer Håkansson has a reputation for being really intimidating. Indeed, I can say his stare is very piercing, but the interview was a huge success, as I got to know one of the most renowned black metal guitarist/ philosophers of our time. More...

A video recently surfaced of Marduk vocalist Daniel "Mortuus" Rosten slamming a fan who got on stage on their December 6th in San Francisco's DNA Lounge. Put in context of the recent attempt of a fan to light a bible on fire and subsequent pepper spraying incident, perhaps this is a reasonable overreaction. The incident occurs around the 1:16 mark and you can also see a blonde guy in front of center monitor passes out at the 4:50 mark in the video below.
Sri Lankan black metal band Funeral In Heaven has posted two new pre-production songs from their new album "Daiwaye Haaskam Saha Paralowa Sapatha" recording sessions online on their MySpace player. Here's the update from the band:
"The past couple of weeks indeed have been hectic as you all know, 4 months back we made a decision to take a step back from live performances and spend a little more time in the studio, recording our compositions onto physical form.
"For the past few weeks, we have been doing just that and we have finally completed recording two of our latest compositions at Wela Madha Studios, Pannipitiya.
"And as promised, the two tracks have been uploaded onto our Myspace player. Please not that these are NOT the final products and also the fact that these songs had to be ripped to a Bit Rate of 96, to fit Myspace's 'files under 6mb' rule.
"The two tracks; "The Origins of Evil: Abhawaya" and "The Malediction of Veracity: Udhbhawaya/Punarbhawaya" is a dedication to all who, in the name of Mother Lanka, battled in the north, and to all those who didn't make it back.

The release date for "Daiwaye Haaskam Saha Paralowa Sapatha" will be announced soon.
