Dutch folk metal band Conorach has issued the following update:
"Since the release of 'Tales from the Tavern,' we’ve steadily been working on new material.
Although we are not ready to record a full-length album yet, we want to record some of this new stuff to give you a sample of what you can expect when (mind you, not if!) we release a second full-length."
"So in early January, we’ll be spending a day at our own rehearsal studio to record one or two of the new songs. Dave Schinkel (who aided us with the vocal recordings for 'Tales from the Tavern') will be our studio engineer and make sure everything will run smoothly."
"We aim to have some samples (or maybe a full song) made available somewhere in February 2010. We’ll keep you posted on how things are going so make sure to check back once a while!"

I have totally 16-18 songs, drums, bass, all guitars, keyboards, percussions, main vocals and production in my hands so might be distracted sometimes when it comes to the blog :)"

Gibson got an exclusive preview of the new black metal documentary "Until The Light Takes Us." Here's an excerpt of their reactions:
"...the new documentary Until The Light Takes Us tackles church burnings, the occult and, even, murder to craft a captivating film that’s essential for both black metal aficionados as well as viewers who are curious about the scene and would like a well-constructed overview of Norway’s cultural and musical makeup.
"However instead of just focusing on the scandalous details, Until The Light Takes Us hones in on the Norwegian black metal subculture itself and centers around members of Mayhem, Burzum and Darkthrone—and features detailed interviews with members from each of these acts, so you’re able to hear about the history of the scene from the artists who helped pioneer it themselves. Additionally the film addresses why this scene found traction in Norway and captures the darkness and isolation of the country via striking cinematography and visuals."
"...Although the media has chosen to focus on the more sensational and controversial aspects of the movement, Until The Light Takes Us manages to humanize these musicians and put into context exactly what catalyzed the brutal metal riffs and equally brutal actions that transpired during the nineties."

Floridian extreme metallers Order Of Ennead have finished recording their second album. The band has set "An Examination Of Being" as the title for the new album. "An Examination Of Being" was recorded at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Mark Lewis, who also produced the band's 2008 self-titled debut.
Lead guitarist John Li comments: "So what can I say about this new album? In my honest opinion, it's much heavier and darker than our self-titled debut, more cohesive, thematic, melodic, but not completely over the top. In a nutshell, the works. To me, the songs sound totally different than the demos and I was blown away after the songs began to take form. They sound BIG. The recording process went as smooth as ever and the results were spectacular, due in part to the genius of our producer/engineer Mark Lewis. He's got an ear like a bat and can spot an out of tune guitar a mile away; a real no-bullshit kind of guy who can really get it done in there. Kev's guitars sound heavy as hell, Steve's drums are tight and powerful, and I must say at the risk of tooting my own horn, I played some great stuff as well (shameless, I know)."
Footage of Order Of Ennead in the studio can also be viewed below. More...

Virginia based technical melodic death metallers Arsis have announced the shooting of the first video for their upcoming album "Starve For The Devil."
Commented the band:
"This month we willing be filming a video for 'Forced To Rock.' The video will be produced and directed by metal video impresarios My Good Eye productions (you may be familiar with their work with such bands as The Red Chord, Goatwhore, The Black Dahlia Murder etc.). The filming will take place in New York; the video for the last album was shot in West Virginia and I really don't feel like being chased by dogs or falling through any floors this time. Our goal with this video and new album is to remind metal fans (and possibly ourselves) why we have metal and music in general is our lives. While we wanted to make a serious artistic statement we also just wanted to have fun. In the name of Satan, we are forced to rock!"
Dutch metallers Cirrha Niva have issued the following update about two of their band members appearing at the Friends of Rock Festival:

For this festival bands are torn apart and their members must form a new band playing metal/hardrock covers. Cirrha Niva’s Rob Willemse & Daniël Huijben will be playing there in two separate bands: Rob’s band is called WAM! (abbrev for Wolfgang Amadeus Metal) and consists members of Fuelblooded, The Smelly Cats & Nightsnake they play songs from Dio, Iron Maiden, Metal Church, Whitesnake, Motorhead and more.
"Daniël’s band is called Bereklauw. He plays with members from Sweet Amber & Velvet Johnson some songs from Twisted Sister, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and more... The festival starts at 3 PM (c.e.t.), and you are more than welcome. More info (in Dutch) at this location."
Fear Factory began filming their first video for their upcoming new album, "Mechanize" today in Los Angeles, California. The band have been working with directors Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci on the music video for the song, "Fear Campaign."
Ian McFarland says about the video: "What excites us about this song is the building and releasing of energy. We are planning to present a visual overload of images that will keep the viewer glued to the screen. The hope is to dissect the word 'fear' and to make a piece of art that will not only capture the power of the song and but the true intensity of Fear Factory."
Speaking about the song's lyrical concept, lead singer Burton C. Bell commented: "It was not necessary to camouflage the insanity of the world of today within a science fiction setting like we've done in the past. The world today has become the world that writers predicted long ago. The controlling authorities are constantly, and successfully, utilizing fear tactics to control the masses. Fear is control."
New York hardcore legends Agnostic Front has announced that they will be reuniting their original lineup of Roger Miret, Vinnie Stigma, Rob Kabula and Dave Jones for their upcoming U.S. tour. Black metal act Cvltvs Mortem, formerly known as Sonic Devastation, has issued the following update about recording a new album:
"It's been a while since we posted an update of any sort formally, so it seems appropriate to fill everyone in on happenings within the Cvltvs camp! Recording is underway officially after some delay which actually worked out to our advantage due to another song or two coming together in the 'downtime' that we're very pleased with! The upcoming 2010 release from us will have 10 tracks, 5 of which are the songs that have been on our page for some time in demo form and not available to the public for that reason. The 5 new tracks added to them have turned out incredible! Lyrics and titles to those tracks are still pending and being written along the way. Originally, we contemplated re-recording just the older 5 tracks as an EP to release for the fans to finally be able to have copies of the finished versions of those songs and then work toward a completely new slab of material for a full length release at a later date. During these passed months, a brand new set of 5 songs emerged and we felt that the appropriate thing to do was to just add those 5 new tracks to the recording process of the 5 older songs for a full length release. (Confusing, isn't it?) More...

British thrashers EVILE have revealed the identity of their new bassist, who joins the band following the tragic and untimely death of their late bassist, Mike Alexander. Mike Alexander passed away on October 5th, 2009 while the band was on tour in Sweden.
EVILE members Matt Drake, Ol Drake and Ben Carter have released the following statement:
"This has been one of the most bizarre and surreal tasks we've ever had to undertake. It isn't like Mike has decided to leave the band and we're simply finding a new bass player, he was taken from us, and we were forced to replace him. In effect we had to look for a new Mike, but that would never happen. He was one of a kind, and we'll never forget him.
"We had hundreds upon hundreds of emails from bass players from around the world (though we can only realistically have a bassist from the UK), and we want to thank everyone for taking the time out to contact us, and the people who came to jam with us. We only had a certain amount of time to actually audition/jam with bass players before the upcoming tours, to get time in for rehearsing the songs, getting visas sorted etc.
"Our new bass player goes by the name Joel Graham. He's an excellent, experienced bass player, and a really nice guy. We'd all appreciate it if you gave him a warm welcome to the band, as this must be a bizarre situation for him to be in also. We'll be getting some photos taken with him soon so you can see us with Joel, we just wanted to get the news out there that we have a new bassist, and that we thank each and every person for auditioning. Mike would be honoured at the amount of respect and admiration you expressed to us through contacting us."
EVILE is set to kick off a headlining European tour in January. The "Infecting Nations" tour will start with a run of UK shows, before the band heads off to mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour will be American thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING.

New York hardcore legends Biohazard has announced that they will be hitting the studio next month to record their first album since 2005's "Means To An End." The new album will feature the bands original lineup of Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel and Danny Schuler. This will be the first time the original lineup have recorded together since the 1996 album, "State Of The World Address." The new album will be released in the summer of 2010, with a world tour planned to kick off in April.
Bass player/vocalist Evan Seinfeld states: "Biohazard and our four diverse, yet equal and integral parts converge upon our LA Underground Sound studio and resurrect our patented ‘meat grinder’ writing process. Each guy brings something - riffs, lyrics, concepts, songs, melodies, chants - and we get in a room and hammer it out. I have personally missed this process over the last years but having Bobby back in the band has brought back some extra fire that has helped remind all of us what the Brooklyn style is all about. The process is exhausting, humbling, magical and empowering all at the same time. One of the songs we wrote in our first ‘round’ of this battle, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, we just played in all of Europe, London, and Moscow and went over so well live, that I am sure we are on the right track."
