The progressive metal purveyors at Sensory Records, a division of The Laser’s Edge Group, have confirmed the release of the debut studio opus from British prog outfit My Soliloquy in North America on January 29th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the band:
"My Soliloquy was formed by multi-instrumentalist Pete Morten in 2002. Since then the quintet has released a number of demos, gaining traction in the metal underground, and have performed a number of notable support shows with Pagans Mind, Power Quest, Oliver and Rick Wakeman and Threshold, as well as a second-to-headlining set at Bloodstock 2005 and a showcase at ProgPower UK II in 2007. Additionally, since 2007, Morten has been an active member of British prog metal legends Threshold. His membership has raised awareness (and created anticipation) for My Soliloquy’s long awaited debut.
"The essence of My Soliloquy is pure forward thinking metal – symphonic keyboards, shredding guitar leads, soaring vocals – all finely woven together through a blend of intricacy and melody into a powerful force fans of Threshold, Dream Theater and Circus Maximus will flock to. Following a pair of demos and an EP release, Sensory is proud to finally unleash the newly-completed first full-length from this act. With nearly all instrumentation on the recording executed solely by Pete Morten, minus the drumming, The Interpreter flows with over fifty minutes of grand musicianship, expertly mixed and mastered by Rob Aubrey, a mainstay of Marillion’s camp for many years." The album will be recorded in the coming weeks, and is slated for a late Spring release, once again via Nefarious Industries. Norwegian act Darkthrone has completed work on its latest album "The Underground Resistance," which is set for release on Peaceville Records on February 26th. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The Underground Resistance is Darkthrone's latest venture through the metal cosmos, and first new album since the 2010 opus Circle the Wagons. The Underground Resistance contains Darkthrone's trademark masterful riffing in a broad range of styles, effortlessly bounding through the annals of classic metal, taking in thrash, speed and black metal, and not forgetting a dose of punk. All in all a ferocious and dynamic set of tracks drenched in Fenriz's and Nocturno's rich and diverse tastes in all things metal, primarily those rooted firmly in the spirit of the 80's. Six tracks long, and each one an epic in itself, this is undoubtedly Darkthrone's strongest outing of late.
"The Underground Resistance was written and recorded spring 2010 to summer 2012 at Necrohell 2 studios by the band themselves. The album was mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door in Texas. Cover artwork also comes courtesy of the iconic and celebrated artist Jim Fitzpatrick."
Commented Fenriz, "Three songs each, Ted's are flown from the universe of metal with his strongest voice ever so far. Songs of mine are torn from the wombs of the riders of rohan of metal, safely cradled in 1985 style." More...

It's been a long hard road for Connecticut's Graven Image. Over the past couple of years, the band has both solidified its lineup with the addition of seasoned vocalist Martin O'Brien (Beyond Reality/Weapon X) and fortified it with its newest additions, bassist Andrew Purchia and guitarist Scott Williams to go along with band mainstay, drummer Phil Michalak. Through this time, composer/guitarist Paul Coleman has refined/fine tuned the band's material and now on Saturday, December 15, 2012, the band will unleash its debut CD "The Future Started Yesterday."
The story of "The Future Started Yesterday" didn't come about until after most of the songs were written. As the band was writing new material, it was found that many of the songs had a common theme. From that point, the story of a soldier's return to the U.S. having to deal with post traumatic effects was born. As for the music, Graven Image plays metal the traditional way. On this release, the band successfully carried over more aggression in the studio than that of the live performances.
Guitarist Paul Coleman commented on the album: "I am very proud of this album and the guys on it. To write an album that's a concept is tricky enough, but to write one that raises social awareness is even harder. We set out to release something that would make you use your head, not just bang it."
Bassist Andrew Purchia added: "This is very exciting. With the release of this album it's a rebirth for me, but also vindication." More...
