As was previously reported, Ronnie James Dio has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Wendy Dio has issued the following update about Ronnie's first chemotherapy treatment:
"Well, it has been a very exhausting month – after all the never ending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and of course MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well.
"I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.
"Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans - we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win. Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers."

It's not a big departure from what we have done in the past, but we feel that we've integrated some new elements that enhance upon everything we've ever done, making this one of our (if not THE) strongest albums to date. Some of the song titles are 'Mr. Sin', 'All In A Moment' and 'The Scars That You Can't See'. We're ready to deliver a great album, and show you what our new members Marco [Pastorino; rhythm guitars] and Gabriele [Ciaccia; keyboards and piano] can bring to our music."

Mastodon's latest album "Crack The Skye" has landed on spot #3 of Time's top 10 albums of 2009. "Crack The Skye" was the only metal album to make the list. Time had this to say about about the album:
The band name doesn't inspire confidence. Nor does the warlock-strewn album cover. Nor the fact that Crack the Skye is the last of a four-album cycle about Earth's elements. But before you sneer, "Hello, Cleveland," listen to Mastodon's thunderous, disciplined and expansive brand of metal. There are plenty of bass-drum carpet-bombings, and "The Czar," a four-part ode to Rasputin — O.K., go ahead: "Hello, Cleveland!" — has all the whiplash rhythm shifts of vintage Metallica. But the album also has nods to European folk, free jazz and prog rock, and as produced by Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), it fronts a brawny sound that doesn't overwhelm the clarity of individual notes. Chuckle at lyrics about "the space-time paradigm" if you must, but the ambition and tenacity of Mastodon's music makes Crack the Skye sonically unforgettable.
The other artists on the list included Brad Paisley, Dirty Projectors, Miranda Lambert, Phoenix, The-Dream, Raekwon, Grizzly Bear, The Avett Brothers, and Lady Gaga.

"It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that due to circumstances beyond the bands control, SOLACE will NOT be performing at the Orange Goblin show at The Scala, London on Saturday 19th December 2009.
"Boston's kings of Rock, ROADSAW will now be main support. The bill also features Centurions Ghost, Sons of Merrick and we are very happy to announce the addition of HONKEYFINGER!!! People may be familiar with Mr. Honkeyfinger as he guested on the track 'Beginner's Guide To Suicide' on the last OG album 'Healing Through Fire'! Honkeyfinger is the one man band from the bowels of the earth, erupting molten fuzz lapsteel, screaming harmonica riffs and desperate bestial howling in a scorching hot cocktail of heavy raw blues power. The Honkeyfinger sound hotwires the electric freak rock of vintage Beefheart, Blue Cheer, ZZTop, and Black Sabbath into a jumping, lurching monster. Boiling up the ghosts of Bukka White, Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker with the bones of the country blues, laced with the acid fried heaviosity of the Buttholes Surfers - this is the thick stinking soup that Mr.Honkeyfinger serves.
"Tickets for this show are selling out fast and numbers available on the door will be limited so to avoid disappointment please purchase yours in advance at this location or via The Scala box office (020 7833 2022)"

"Hails guys! Our second album, 'Celebrating Impending Chaos' is finally ready to go. Expect an early 2010 release. The new album has turned out to be a hellish and schizophrenic affair. We have taken the catchy black riffing of our debut album, 'Traversing the Awesome Night', chewed it up and projectile vomited it back out at inhuman speed. Our love for 70s prog and 80s thrash can be heard breathlessly trying to keep up. Before anything could escape, we took the finished tracks to Mr. Russ Russell's place where he did a fine job of mixing and mastering the thing."
