ORCumentary, the evil brainchild of solo artist Orc Adams (keyboards, vocals, songwriting) will release a new full-length album on March 29th, 2013. It will be titled "Orcs 1, Goblins 0," and appears poised to continue the eccentric, tongue-in-cheek, GWAR-inspired brand of synthesized "orc rock" on the 2012 EP "Praise Gor-Nacular!" (reviewed here)
The tracklist for "Orcs 1, Goblins 0" is as follows:
1. Cast Your Lot With The Orcs
2. Goblin Death March
3. Troll The Brave And True
4. "Black Forest" Ham
5. Troll Snot
6. The Leprechaun Hunt
7. Plains Of D'Lagrolon
8. Strangled By Your Own Sword Belt
9. Gor-Nacular's Grove
10. The View From Gor-Nacular's Lofty Seat
11. Fuck The Elves! (CD Exclusive Bonus Track)
12. Troll Snot (Instrumental [CD Exclusive Bonus Track])
A two-track single for "Troll Snot" is now available to download via Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and more.
Adams recently checked in with the following nugget: "Recording for the next album is going really well... Already finished drums and guitar on song 2, which is not only pretty melodic, but chug-tastic - in a good way!"
Ontario's emerging melodic metal frontrunners, Odium, have just premiered a cover of Deftones' "Passenger" via BlankTV.
"Think of it as an early Christmas present from the Odium family to all of our fans who asked for this cover. December 1st you get to open that present," commented the band.
"Passenger" originally appeared on Deftones' third studio album, "White Pony," in 2000. "Burning The Bridges To Nowhere," Odium's sophomore album, was released earlier this year through Year Of The Sun records.
Metalunderground.com interviewed Odium frontman Tom Emmans in October. You can read the full interview here.
The "World's Most Extreme Metal Cruise," Barge To Hell, has made the following announcement on its official website:

Booking for the cruise is now closed. Barge To Hell will depart Miami, FL this Monday, 12/3, stop in Nassau, Bahamas, on Wednesday 12/5, and return to Miami on Friday, 12/7.

Update: Carcass has since confirmed an album is in the works and will feature Jeff Walker, Daniel Wilding, and Bill Steer. Check out the full announcement over here.
Rumors have been circulating online that Carcass is working on a new album that would feature Heaven Shall Burn's Matthias Voigt.
Heaven Shall Burn has now posted the following statement online denying these unsubstantiated claims:
"Blabbermouth.net is really cool, but sometimes rumors are just rumors. Heaven Shall Burn's Matthias is 100% NOT playing for CARCASS!
"Everybody in HSB maintains the status as devoted Carcass-fan and does not even dare to dream of being involved with this legend!"
There has been no statement of any kind from Carcass or any of the members involved with the band at this point, so it's unclear if an album was actually in the works or not. If a new album were coming, it would be the first studio full-length from the band since the 1996 release "Swansong."
Oh, Sleeper guitarist James Erwin has posted the following message online about deciding to part ways with the band next year:
"James here, I come baring bittersweet news. I'm stepping down from Oh Sleeper early next year after our Australia/New Zealand tour. After nearly 7 years, 3 records, an EP, countless tours and endless memories, I'm ready to move on. I'll be forever grateful for the support of our fans.
"Thank you for everything you've done for us that made this dream a reality. I never deserved this. If I've left any mark on your lives I hope it's this: Never give up on your dreams because they really can come true if work hard and pursue them with everything you've got.
"See you around."

Blind Guardian has posted the following message about releasing the massive "A Traveler's Guide to Space and Time" box set:
"Save up your Christmas money for February when A Traveler’s Guide to Space and Time, a strictly limited edition Blind Guardian box set with 15 CDs in 13 high quality digipacks and only 8000 copies worldwide, is released. Germany, Austria and Switzerland have a release date of February 1, 2013 and the rest of the world on February 4, 2013. The box set can now be pre-ordered from your favorite record shop!
"Looking back over Blind Guardian’s career from the here and now in 2013, you see a success story gone global, the likes of which very few other German metal bands have ever experienced. This band from Krefeld has been just about everywhere, conquering the North American market in the same way as they stormed the charts in Asia or packed concert venues in South America and even South Africa. From their (at that point purely) German beginnings with debut album Battalions of Fear (1988), followed by their first international recognition with the second album Follow the Blind (1989) and the euphoria which went round the world when Tales from the Twilight World (1990) and Somewhere Far Beyond (1992) came out, right through to their masterpiece of composition in A Night at the Opera (2002), the name of the band developed to become an unmistakable world brand. There are lots of reasons for this, but no doubt much of it is down to the extraordinary skill of everyone involved, their virtuoso dexterity and that gift for bringing mystical themes in tune with unusually complex metal directives. Something else which really makes Blind Guardian stand out is the way they have always kept so close to their fans.
"Even more proof of their unconditional commitment to the huge fan-base is being released now; A Traveler’s Guide to Space and Time, a strictly limited edition deluxe box set with a total of 15 CDs in 13 high quality digipacks, which the musicians and the record company have been working on together for almost a year. A particularly long time to create a compilation you may think, but a glance at just how much this box set encompasses explains why their conscientious and time-consuming preparation took so long. U.K. act Aonia has checked in with the following announcement about splitting with the band's guitarist:
"We regret to announce that, due to time commitments, guitarist Paul has sadly had to leave Aonia. We are now looking for a lead/rhythm guitarist to replace him so we can record our new EP early next year and fulfill our gigging commitments to the best standard we can.
"Aonia is a band that is looking to go somewhere in the next 1-2 years - we are starting to secure bigger gigs and more high profile support slots so we need someone who is reliable and confident onstage. We also are looking for someone with his/her own gear who is a creative songwriter, flexible, available, committed - and, above all, someone with a sense of humor. Own transport and gigging experience would both be great too.
"If interested, please either PM our Facebook account or email email@example.com - we look forward to meeting you and driving the band forward!"

Savatage/Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Jon Oliva's Pain founder Jon Oliva will release his very first solo album in 2013. While his band Jon Oliva's Pain continues to write the follow up to the 2010 LP "Festival," Oliva will release his solo LP in Spring 2013 via AFM Records.
The announcement reads as follows:
"Good day one and all,
"We thank you all for your patience with regards to announcing our new recording plans.
"While JOP is very much intact and focused on new music and future touring...JON OLIVA will release his first ever solo record in early 2013.
"Jon has assembled a collection of ideas from the past 4-5 years and wants the opportunity to present them as his own work. Jon will be recording nearly all the instrument tracks and vocals himself and also playing drums on several tracks. Once again, I have the honor of recording the bulk of the drum tracks on the new cd, but this record will have been created from start to finish with Jon being completely at the helm."
Jon Oliva commented on the album: "I’ve got some weird ideas that I wanna try and I’ve got some time to do it. I don’t want do just 'another' JOP record. I’ve done four of those already. I wanna do something different. I have some material that I’ve wanted to put out for a while, that I’ll talk with the record company about, maybe putting something out quickly, like in the next four or five months, to give me more time to do this JOP record. I want the next JOP cd to be very special. I’ve got some great friends from other bands that are going to be a significant part of the next JOP release. We are going to do a killer JOP record and then an additional bonus cd with guest stars... kind of like the AVANTASIA thing but not in a story line. Tobias Sammet does a magnificent job with it, but I don’t have that much time to write a whole story, so I’ll just have some powerhouse friends from various bands come in and take it over the top."
Drum recordings, handled by J.O.P. drummer Christopher Kinder, begin at the legendary Morrisound Studio's in mid December.
