C.O.C. Teams Up With Orange Goblin In Cardiff

We all look forward to seeing our favourite bands live in almost any setting. The most special though is when they're part of an impressive touring lineup. This Autumn, North Carolina's legendary Corrosion Of Conformity returned to the United Kingdom for a headlining tour, teaming up with British heavy metal flag bearers Orange Goblin, as well as fellow Americans Fireball Ministry and Yorkshire bred, Black Moth. At the penultimate show of the tour in Cardiff, I had the pleasure of witnessing this stellar combination for myself.

Opening the bill was Black Moth, the youngest band on the trek. While only having a short set, spanning a little over twenty minutes, this stoner metal outfit boast an impressive sound and presence, led by vocalist Harriet Hyde. Not being too familiar with the band, I'm not able to name any of the songs they performed, but Black Moth were good enough to warrant looking up at home afterwards. Better than that, they're a group that deserved to be checked out again when given a longer set. A great way to open the show. More...

All That Remains Vows To Continue

Last month, All That Remains suffered a tragic and incredibly painful loss when their globally renowned, highly respected, and immeasurably talented lead guitarist and founding member Oli Herbert, unexpectedly passed away.

Herbert played on all nine albums in the band’s discography and was especially proud of the new album, Victim of the New Disease, which is out today, via Eleven Seven Music. The album is both a tour de force and a testament to Herbert’s legacy.

Doro Pesch Discusses New Music And Old Friends

Heavy metal has its fair share of heroes and legends. While many bands mean a lot to people, heavy metal has given the world of music some true icons such as Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead's Lemmy and King Diamond. In a genre which is seen to have been dominated by men however, a number of woman have made their presence known and voices heard, perhaps none more so than Doro Pesch. Doro achieved success fronting Warlock, who released four albums before legal issues meant she had to change the name of the band to the eponymous, Doro. As a solo artist, she's released a number of stellar albums, creating pounding anthems and satin smooth ballads, collaborating with everyone from Lemmy to comedian Helge Schneider in the process.

Last night, Doro kicked off the tour in support of her first double album, "Forever Warriors, Forever United," performing as special guest to fellow metal legends Saxon. I was lucky enough to meet up with her after her set and discuss the new album, the influence Lemmy had on the record, the impressive cast of collaborators and how the place of women in heavy metal has changed over the decades. You can watch the interview in full below, while an excerpt reads as follows:

Diamond Oz: You've just done an amazing show! I saw you at Bloodstock a few months ago which was also incredible, but this time you've changed the setlist up a little bit and it's not so Warlock orientated. The new material sounds amazing!

Doro Pesch: Oh good! It was the first time we've played "Blood, Sweat and Rock & Roll." We were so excited about it but everybody sang along, it was great!

Oz: And of course that comes from the new album, "Forever Warriors, Forever United." It's been six years since "Raise Your Fist" so I'd imagine quite a lot of material has built up over that time.

Doro: Yeah, totally but we always release something every year like DVDs and then we spent about two and a half years collecting all the new material together. It always takes a long time to really get into the mindset and make sure everything sounds right and now it's a double album for the first time!

Iron Maiden Announces World Tour Dates

British heavy metal icons Iron Maiden has announced a series of headline shows in both North and South America for the Summer of 2019 as part of their "Legacy Of The Beast" tour. Support on the trek will come from The Raven Age, featuring George Harris (son of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris,) while additional support at the Los Angeles show will come from Fozzy.

Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson comments: "We’re excited to return to North America and share the Legacy Of The Beast Tour with all our friends there! We’re immensely proud of this show and we’ve had great reactions from the many fans who came to see us in Europe earlier this year. The production is based on our mobile game The Legacy Of The Beast which basically takes various incarnations of Eddie into many different Maiden Worlds. This inspired us to put together a stage show to take our fans through different Worlds and experiences set to appropriate songs. It is not that easy designing different Worlds on stage and we put a huge amount of work into this to make it work and the end result we feel is our most spectacular and certainly the most complex show to date.

"We’ve got all kinds of crazy things going on, including a replica Spitfire plane dominating the stage during ‘Aces High,’ tons of pyro, a giant Icarus, muskets, claymores and some truly marvellous flame-throwers which I have a hell of a lot of fun with, as you will see! And of course we have Eddie, as you’ve never seen him before, and absolutely loads of other surprises. I’ve had the time of my life playing with all these magnificent props on stage, it’s been fantastic, we can’t wait to bring this show to you!" More...
