Having recently released new album "Silencing Machine" (reviewed here), Nachtmystium is now ready to bring the band's unique brand of black metal to fans on the Barge To Hell. In regards to upcoming appearances (as well as the group's cancelled North American tour with Jarbo), the band comments:
"Nachtmsytium fans on the east coast: we ARE coming out for three shows in a little over a week and finish with a fourth one in Chicago! Then we will be appearing on the Barge To Hell metal cruise ship going from Miami, FL to Nassau, Bahamas and back. Playing alongside Sodom, At The Gates, Mayhem, Rotting Christ, Moonspell, Morgoth, Napalm Death, and many, many many more awesome bands!
"A full U.S. tour WILL be happening sometime between January and April, 2013. Sorry to any of you hoping to catch us on this run. The tour was doomed from the get go in a lot of ways due to things unrelated to the band or our ability to tour. Just poor timing, nothing more, nothing less. We will be doing a thorough US tour early in 2013, so look for us coming to your city soon...And anyone out in the areas we're playing in a week or so, we look forward to seeing you at the shows!"

Massachusetts act A Wanted Awakening has posted the following announcement online about canceling upcoming tour dates:
"Hey AWA Fans,
"As upsetting as it is to do so, in the interest of maintaining open communication with our friends and fans, we have an announcement to make. The past few days, fate has seen fit to pile on a mountain of circumstance, for which there could have been no hope of preparation. We have had an overwhelming majority of the shows from the Terminatour been either cancelled, or due to other circumstances not happening.
"With all these cancellations, it was no longer feasible for us to stay out on the road with so few paying shows left. In the interest of maintaining our professionalism, we are making a conscious decision to not go into great detail about how this has come to pass. For those of our friends and families who may want to know more, please do not hesitate to talk to us privately about it.
"We have plans to finish out the final week of the tour, but until that time we have decided to return to New England and regroup, and return with renewed ambition. We hope to have an opportunity soon to return to the road and bring our music to more of America than we had a chance to this time around. Thank you all for you support."
3 Inches of Blood has released a lyric video for the track "Storming Juno," which can be viewed below. Taken from most recent album "Long Live Heavy Metal," vocalist Cam Pipes explains how the song is a tribute anthem:
"Storming Juno is a tribute to the soldiers of the Canadian armed forces that got the first foothold for the allies on D-Day during World War II. Every November 11 we remember all who served, some who made the ultimate sacrifice, in service to their country. Releasing this lyric video is our way of acknowledging those who served our country and how proud we are of the significant contribution Canada had in fighting tyranny all those years ago."
Next month, the heavy metal veterans will embark on a headlining West Coast run. The two-week trek will feature special guest Huntress as main support, and Hookers as the tour opener. A list of confirmed dates can be seen below, with more to be announced shortly. More...
Abigail Williams recently announced work had begun on a new album, despite performing what was billed as a "final farewell" tour and stating latest album "Becoming" would be the band's last. Abigail Williams has now posted the following message online about the situation:
"Judging from the 'I thought you guys broke up?' and 'make up your minds!' comments it's obvious some of you are wondering what all this new album talk is about A few months back we announced we would no longer be touring and trust me that was a genuine feeling at the time. The core of the band, Ian and myself, were exhausted from all the years of touring and hard work and felt that we needed to find some balance in our lives rather than constantly kill ourselves on tour most the year.
"I'm sure this is not news to some of you but playing in a band at our level is hard work. (see what Chris Grigg of Woe said about this very subject) Obviously we never received much of a financial reward for all the time and effort we put in to this and we had drained our funds completely.
"It seemed we were in debt to everyone. Our van was in a bad state and not worth fixing and we still owed money on it, we were in debt to our label, owing them money for CD's that we took on tour over the last year but we were not able to make the payment (we pay $7.50 per CD and sell them for $10) and we had problems with our booking agent being a subhuman POS which resulted in us having to book tours for ourselves to support our latest album. These are just some examples, there are many many more and considering none of this was anything new and had been going on for years and years it was frustrating to say the least. As much as we loved touring the world playing to 20 kids a night on average, it had made us miserable in the long run. More...

In the grand tradition of the avian-fronted Hate Beak comes a new ani-metal band: PUG DESTROYER! Check out the new Pug Destroyer video in the player below, courtesy of AnimalNewYork.com. The video creators comment:
"When certain pugs get overexcited, they produce a loud, high-pitched sound that falls halfway between a 'squealing pig' and a 'tortured human.' When I first heard it, one coworker successfully convinced me it was the sound of a puppy having its legs chopped off. It’s intense.
"As intense, in fact, as the vocals of certain strains of extreme metal music–a fact ANIMAL decided to exploit by pairing the audio from several YouTube videos of the cacaphonous canines (completely unedited, mind you), with this death metal instrumental."

Swedish act Engel has posted the following announcement online about parting ways with the band's vocalist:
"We are sad to say that Magnus will not be a member of Engel anymore. We had a really good run and we will miss him very much. There is no hard feelings between Engel and Magnus and we parted ways as friends, carrying with us a lot of good times and awesome memories.
"However, this will not affect the coming shows, since our good friend Lenne (ex-Twelvestep) steps up to the plate once again and fills in for Magnus during the Blood Of Saints Over Sweden+ Tour. Come out to the shows and support Engel and Lenne by banging your head on the Frontline!"
Magnus has also issued the following statement: “So this is it, my time in Engel is over. I’m not going to rant about the who’s and why´s, just say goodbye. I have had a lot of good times and I am sad to leave it behind, but that’s how it goes sometimes. It´s not a farewell forever, I’m not going to quit music. I´m going to miss the boys on stage, the people in the crowd and all the good friends I have met on the road. To the boys on stage: Good luck with all future adventures. To the crowd: Stay true, I will miss you. And to the 'roadsters:' See you again soon.” More...

Fresh on the heels of fifth album "Book Burner" (reviewed here) released last month, grindcore kings Pig Destroyer have re-signed with their long time record label home Relapse Records. Pig Destroyer's Adam Jarvis comments:
"Super excited to be a part of the extraordinary Relapse Records again! A song comes to mind in the melody of the 'Team America' jingle. Relapse, FUCK YEAH! Once again, signing a muthafuckin contract!"
Scott Hull adds, "Relapse has been a great home for both ANb and Pig Destroyer since the very early days. We're not an easy band to deal with but Relapse has been patient, enthusiastic, and accommodating to our headache-inducing schedules, our strict adherence to not touring or behaving like a normal band, and just generally being pains-in-the-asses. We wouldn't trade that for anything."
JR Hayes also stated, "I don't always sign contracts with record labels, but when I do, I choose Relapse."

Notes guitarist Teloch of the new tune: “‘Vim Patior’ contains all the elements you all love about Nidingr: blastbeats, shredding guitars, sweet ass bass lines, guttural vocals, catchy riffing without turning your ears to cheese… But at the same time we introduce some of the new elements we are doing all over the new album: riffs that will make you puke blood and cry.”
The "Greatest Of Deceivers" album is scheduled to detonate in North America on November 20th, 2012. The recent Indie Recordings signees feature within their illustrious ranks past and present members of Mayhem, Gorgoroth, DHG (Dødheimsgard), 1349, and God Seed.

Anyone looking for rock and roll highlighted by sleazy guitars, big choruses, and tattoos are well aware (and have been for some time) of the scene in Sweden. Veteran, new, and reformed bands continue to put out new music as well as some entertaining videos. This week we look at three of these videos.
Swedish rockers SISTER SIN have released a music video for "End Of The Line", the first single from the band's upcoming album 'Now And Forever.' Filmed at an old nuclear reactor testing facility in Stockholm, Sweden, SISTER SIN is clearly in a mood for kicking ass.
I realize this is at a nuclear reactor site, but the video begins with an Asylum feel, or at least some sort of mental institution. Liv Jagrell is not happy, also not hungry. She is ripped, sweaty, and working out inside a small cement cell. Outside (of the alleged mental institution) there are explosions. Not Macy’s type fireworks: bombs going off, signaling Armageddon. Inside, Liv does pull-ups. The video continues with more explosions and then push-ups. Liv is preparing for war. After her “Prison Work Out” she approaches her stash of guns. Hey, what type of mental facility is this? So maybe this is just her own personal bunker, a place where she can get away from that crazy outside world and get in a good workout. Also, a great place to stash her guns…
Sweden's KILLER BEE are back with a refreshed line-up and a new album called 'Hell & Back.' The band has released their first official music video from the album, for the single "Step Into My World.” This is not to be confused with the comic relief track “My World” from Guns N’ Roses ‘Use Your Illusion II’, no, this is serious.
The video displays depressing clips of poverty, rioting, and begging. A quick break from the documentary shows the band. I enjoy the abundance of jean jackets and the use of a globe as “the world on fire”, also good use of the fist pump. The video (depressing documentary) continues with more world hunger, missile crisis, etc… very somber video, I think I’m going to go listen to “My World” and cheer myself up…
TOXICROSE, a brand new band out of Sweden featuring GEMINI FIVE and LIPSTIXX 'N' BULLETZ members, have released a music video for the track "A Song For The Weak.” The song is taken from the band's upcoming debut EP, soon to be released by City Of Lights/Rock It Up Records.
The video begins very formal – an introduction to the band. My personal opinion is that the broken glass is unnecessary, but then again, that’s just me. This is pretty much what is coming out of Sweden these days: lots of guitars, lots of hair, lots of leather, and lots of chains. There is definitely s glam inspiration, but more in a Hanoi Rocks way, versus late eighties Sunset Strip. The songs are bluesy enough to hide the pop grooves and choruses. It’s glam with an edge…
