The new Society 1 album "A Journey From Exile" has been made available as a free digital download at this location. The band has decided to release the album for free after vocalist Lord Zane announced he would be unable to fulfill touring obligations due to a lingering neck injury.
During rehearsals it became apparent that touring for an extended period of time would cause to much damage to Zane's already aggravated physical condition. According to the band, Zane sustained the injury in 2008 when setting a world record for body suspension where he hung for six hours with four metal hooks pierced through his upper back.
"I remember feeling as if something was burning from the base of my skull to the middle of my back on the left side after the suspension. I figured I just needed time to heal but about a month later I didn't feel that much better. I went to a few doctors and they told me I would barely be able to walk in three years. Since then I have undergone a multitude of therapies and I believed I was ready to get back out there and perform but unfortunately it's still to painful," explains Zane.
The band agreed to go on hiatus and pursue other projects while Zane focused on his recovery. "I didn't want to prevent my band members (Dirt Von Karloff -Bass, Presotn Nash -Drums, Billie Stevens -Guitar) from getting out there and doing what they love. All of us are still going to be involved in music but working separately makes more sense at the moment. I am going to continue to write, record music and shoot video's but performing live is something that is going to have to wait. I have began a new more aggressive therapy regimen and I'll see where it can get me in a few months. I love performing and fully plan to get back out there even if it means limited shows in the future." More...

Metalunderground.com brings you the exclusive premiere of the lead track off Autumns Eyes' new album, "Please Deceive Me." The song, titled "Icabod," can be heard in the player below.
Dan Mitchell commented on the song:
The track itself has it's own identity, as with most songs on 'Please Deceive Me'. However, the meaning is definitely more personal than the other tracks. It was written for my son, who is yet to be born. Some will call it corny, but I didn't write this for anyone else but my son. It's basically a promise to him before he enters the world. One day when he's old enough to make fun of his old man, I'll be ready for the insults. For now, it's more of a personal dedication. Besides, you can only go so far trying to be a tough guy who writes evil lyrics in this genre.
Here's the complete "Please Deceive Me" tracklisting:
2. Blood In the Woods
3. Anxiety Spiders
4. Please Deceive Me
5. So Close to Shadow
7. Cobwebs and Crosses
8. Red Wine and Resin

German power metal band Rage has posted additional song updates on the band's Official Website as the group records a new LP, tentatively entitled "Twenty One." Vocalist/bassist Peavy Wagner gives the following descriptions of "Psycho Terror," "Forever Dead" and "Twenty One:"
Music: André Hilgers / Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
"This song shows André together with Victor first time as a composer. It has super heavy riffing and a well-fitting hymn like chorus. Here, Victor is able to work out a real fat basis with halting midtempo killer grooves and droptunig. The arrangement developes up to a short drum solo at the end.
The words are about bad experiences in relationships..." More...
German thrash legends Necronomicon have signed with Massacre Records. The band will release new album "Invictus," more details of which will surface soon. The press release reads:
"Since 28 years the band members are dedicating their lives to thrash metal. Everything began in 1984 when four young men, Freddy, Lars Honeck, Jürgen Weltin (Jogi) and Axel, decided to form NECRONOMICON.
"Recognizing the urban character and punk roots that made the band so original, fans and media alike responded enthusiastically to the debut album 'Necronomicon'. NECRONOMICON’s second album, 'Apocalyptic Nightmare' was released in 1987 and interest in the band continued to grow significantly worldwide.
"The legendary album 'Escalation' followed, climbing to the Top 30 in the Rock Charts in Greece. Unfortunately, co-founders Jogi, Lala and Axel were unable to continue with the band, leaving Freddy as the only original member, and he made NECRONOMICON his life’s purpose and passion.
"During the following years, NECRONOMICON released further albums and demos. Even the toughest critics would have to agree that a band which has a fan base that has not only remained loyal, but constantly pulls in new young fans must be endowed with a character and identity all of its own that makes it stand out from the masses.
"Since December 2010, Freddy had been busy writing new songs for the highly anticipated new album, 'Invictus' which will be produced at the Arsen Music Studios in Breisach and Berlin. Sound guru Achim Köhler will once again handle the mix and mastering. The guest musicians are none other than Randy Black (Ex-Annihilator) and Ben Krahl (Final Kings).
"Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind - NECRONOMICON has never been stronger! Beware the beast!" More...

Arkansas act Seamless has checked in with the following update about working on a new album and announcement about recruiting a new member:
"Hey guys! We are absolutely knocking out this LP! This is going to be a 12, possibly 13 track full length record that we are really excited about. I know we have been taking it slow lately but we are getting back into the groove and getting stuff done.
"In other news, we have added a new member to the family! Micah Reynolds will be doing some additional vocals as well as some keyboards and our live sound such as sample triggering, live mixing, etc. Welcome this fool!"
