Canadian deathcore act Ion Dissonance has announced that is has dropped off of the "Portals Tour" which features Arsonists Get All The Girls, Within The Ruins, And Hell Followed With and Structures. The band issued the following statement:
"We are truly sorry to announce that we have decided to drop off the Malus promoted “Portals” tour with our friends in AGATG, Within the ruins, And Hell Followed With and Structures. We don’t want to waste anybody’s time getting into the details of why exactly we have decided to drop off, so lets just say that a certain clothing company did not hold up their end of the promotion deal that was necessary for this tour, and that the shows we played were no where near what we had anticipated as a band.
We sincerly appologize to everyone who had planned on coming out to see us and watch us play, as well as all those of you who found out about the show the following day. For those concerned, be assured that internal problems within the band were not a factor in our decision to drop off. The band is doing quite well actually and monatary reasons are the major influence on our decision to go home.
We want to take a minute and give a shout out to everyone participating with the portals tour. Arsonists get all the girls, Within the ruins, And hell followed with, Structures and destruction of a rose. You guys are all great dudes and musicians and we miss you all (even Joel). Hopefully the news of our departure will help promote the remaining shows of the tour.
Take care and stay tuned for more on the situation.

These shows will serve as the band's warm up for upcoming worldwide tour dates, which kick off on November 24th in North America as the group heads out on a trek with Chimaira and Impending Doom.
Levi (guitars) states: “We’re going to be doing some headlining shows on our way to meeting up with Chimaira and Impending Doom. If you’re wondering why you should come out to that well, if you want to hear us play a longer than usual set which touches on our entire catalogue then come out. Otherwise I don’t recommend it.”

Even bigger and better this year in an attempt to make this an event held annually in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the show will go to the Rescue Mission and Boys Town. So attend a good show and know that your charitable ticket price will be donated to these organizations to help the less fortunate have a nice holiday.
Welsh act Anterior has entered the studio to record the band's follow-up to the 2007 album "This Age of Silence." The band issued the following statement:
"That's right! We have entered the studio to start drum tracking for the second Anterioralbum! We started production at Grindstone Studios with Scott Atkins (Stampin' Ground, Sylosis, Gamma Bomb, Man Must Die) at the helm. The fact that we have finally entered the studio to record our second album is an achievement in itself! After so many problems and having multiple things stacked against us we came through it all, finished an album, got a new drummer, and now it's time to get things right!
"We are currently recording our second as yet untitled album due for an early 2011 release and to say that we are as excited about it as kids are at Xmas would be a gross understatement. We feel that the songs are so much stronger and that we have matured as a band since 'This Age Of Silence' and we are bursting for you to hear it!
"We will be posting video updates on our official YouTube channel as the recording advances. We feel that this album will definitely show that we have our strongest line-up ever and will mark a great return for us. We plan to make 2011 the busiest time we have ever had. We expect to be touring relentlessly and hitting some new places so be afraid, be very afraid! More...

"Branden Morgan of Misery Signals will be helping us out behind the kit on our upcoming European run on the Persistence Tour. Branden is a great drummer and has been nailing all the tunes in rehearsal. Everyone headed to the Persistence Tour can expect Unearth to be as solid as ever during this run. See you all in a month!"
Having returned home safely from a recent Midwestern mini-tour, Atlanta sludge act Sons of Tonatiuh has announced a new bout of tour dates. Drummer Tim Genius commented:
"We'd first like to report that the tour was a resounding success. Thank you in no small part to the hospitality of our label boss at Hydrophonic, the rad bands we shared bills with and the swell folks we met along the way. A special thanks is due to our driver and road-man extraordinaire, Greg who delivered us safe, if not sound. We wish the same could be said for a certain feline representative of Grand Rapids who had a bit of a run-in with our van. That part was a bummer.
"So we’re back in Atlanta, and after a couple of days, we've got the inevitable 'ants-in-our-pants' associated with a post-super fun road trip. What did we do? The only thing we know to do. We booked a tour. That’s right, come January 6 Sons of Tonatiuh will be heading out for a ten-day stretch from Florida to Texas and back. And what will we do with ourselves until then? Well, how about a particular hometown gig with fellow southern teetotalers, Eyehategod? And if that wasn’t enough, what if we told you that our pals and recent touring accomplices Phobia would be there too? That’s right. Sludge legends, Eyehategod AND grind pioneers, Phobia with Sons of Tonatiuh at The Earl in Atlanta, December 4, 2010! That's all for now. But do yourselves a favor. Let’s see you there! Or just do it for the Mr. Wiggles."

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. Omega Crom's Johnny K seems to have a lot of stories, and this week, we're going to share a couple more from him, which simply follow the general theme of getting fucked up in the mosh pit, for whatever reason:
Slayer in 99 - I was crowd surfing and somersaulted over backward and accidently knee'd this guy in the nose, the crowd shifted and my face was directly over his face as he screamed, " FUUUCK!". As I was swept away I yelled, " Sorry". That same day I saw SlipKnot for the first time which was a rough mosh pit, I took at least five boots to the skull. It wasn't intentional just people crowd surfing and flailing limbs.
OK last story, I'm at Iron Maiden everyone is rocking out having a good time and I see that Steve Harris looks pissed. After the song he goes to Bruce and says something and Bruce points this Dude out in the audience. I guess the guy was being an asshole in some way and he starts lipping off Bruce Dickinson. Needles to say this guy got fuckin rocked hard and then security came and carried him outta there. I learned a great lesson from Iron Maiden that day, Mosh pits are great for releasing some pent up rage but if you see someone going down everyone helps them out which is the beauty of it all, Kicking ass but Not behaving like a Macho Dickweed. Good Times.
All has been quiet on the Delta, BC band's front since they completed their Summer Shred Tour and then played a homecoming show in Delta in October.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

Leprous has checked in with the 10th update from the road on the band's current tour dates. The update can be read below.
Today I was the last one to wake up and to get out of the bus. And to be honest – this is how it usually is. Anyway, as I stepped out of the bus a group of Theorians and Leprechauns where ready to take the trip downtown to check out the cultural Haubstadt of Vienna. I joined the group, and we were on our way.
When we left the nightliners, parked outside tonight’s venue Szene, the weather was nice and sunny, but as we reached the city centre the sun had vanished and we were left freezing in our t-shirts. Tobias had a specific mission for his trip downtown – he needed to get his broken drum pedals either fixed or replaced by a working pair.
We got directions to an instrument store from one of the Theorians, but this trail went cold, as no one in the neighbourhood seemed to know anything about it. Then we were told by a local to take the tram here and the train there to get to this instrument store. This was too complicated; as we were convinced it had to be an easier way to come across an instrument shop in Vienna. Then we were told to ask one of the guys handing out opera flyers to the rich tourists. We did, and he told us there was a shop located “right down the street”. But “right down the street” there were no instrument shop. Here we ran into Einars brother Kenneth and our good friend Josten who came all the way from Norway to visit us on tour!More...
Metallica has issued the following announcement about performing at next year's edition of the Rock in Rio festival:
"We know it’s pretty nutty to announce a show almost a year in advance...certainly not something we’ve ever done before! However, when we were asked to headline the original Rock in Rio, the one actually in Rio de Janeiro (!!), we just couldn’t say 'no.' After playing at other Rock in Rio festivals in Lisbon and Madrid years past, it seemed like it would make for a fun break from whatever (??!!) we might be doing a year from now.
"So we hope you’ll dig up a 2011 calendar and mark off September 25, 2011 for a date with ‘Tallica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Tickets go on sale on November 19th, 2010 only at the Rock in Rio official website. Other points of sale will be available only after July, 1, 2011."

In a recent interview with Occult Black Metal Zine, Rachid of experimental metal act Zebulon Kosted discussed several upcoming releases. Excerpts from the interview follow:
Rachid: I have been recording a new style of Experimental music for multiple Splits which will be released over the next 4 months, promoting and advertising for my full length that came out in April BETWEEN THIS WORLD AND THE NEXT and playing live shows outside of Montana whenever possible, as well as gigging locally. I have also put a considerable amount of effort into making new Z.K. merchandise, two new shirts and patches can be purchased directly through me on various easy to find websites. I am currently writing for the third and final installment in the Die Nibelungen trilogy, which will be released next Spring.
How would you describe the newer direction of the music?
Rachid: I have started experimenting with combining dark synthesizer music with ambient guitar and blast beat drumming, all while extensively utilizing samples from scientific research videos on dark energy (supposedly what 74% of the universe consists of), transcendental meditation, hypnosis and the mind prison (a.k.a. human conditioning). Their is a fair amount of variation on this formula, so not everything sounds alike by any means. This is the next step in the evolution of Zebulon Kosted, but I'm sure it will not be the last. Live I have written and performed 6 new 20 minute Avant Garde / Blackened Doom Metal pieces over the last 8 months, some incorporating performance art.More...

Scar The Surface has issued the following update regarding the departure of their drummer:
"It's with sadness that we're announcing that our mate/drummer Glenn 'Bulldog' Allen has left our troupe. In the end it was an inevitable move as those close to the band would know that we were all in a pretty rough'n'tough position."
Glenn 'Bulldog' Allen comments on his departure, "Hey all, Bulldog here, with a great deal of sadness I'm announcing I won't b returning to pilot the skins for STS. All is still good within the STS camp and I'll still b around helping the guys out where I can, it just won't b behind the kit. Thanks to everyone who has supported me over the last few years, and a HUGE t...hank you to jeff, simon, shane, Daryl, daniel, and elliot for all the awesome gigs, touring, and general shenanigans, and good luck to Spaggers as STS newest axe man. See you all at up coming shows, I'll be the shaved headed tattoo'd wanker up front giving the boys shit :) CHEERS EVERYBODY!" More...
All Shall Perish has begun working on their fourth album. Ben Orum of the band had this to say, "After two very successful tours at home and abroad, we are now home writing the new ALL SHALL PERISH record! The writing process is flowing very naturally, and so far the material itself is very impressive. It is safe to say this will be one of the most aggressive, epic, groovy records we have ever written. I can not wait to start playing this material live."

Boston based metal outfit, Ravage has posted their new music video online for the song, "Grapes Of Wrath." You can check it out below. Regarding the video, singer Al Ravage commented,
"I'm proud of what we were able to put together with this video despite a non-existent budget. I think we were able to get our message across in a very entertaining way. The song itself speaks to the personal struggles of the people of our generation as we try to wade through the turbulent waters of this rough economic and social climate. Everyone our age knows someone who has lost his or her job, been burdened by ever increasing credit card or student loan debt and dually had to deal with the fallout of two on-going foreign wars. The song basically is a wake-up call to the brain-dead media personalities and political figures who sit idly by as the world tears itself appart and try to blame music or art for the problems of today's youth. As for the video, as usual, we threw quite a bit in the blender for you all to keep it interesting - including some comedy, some gore, some parody, and a not-so subtle homage to one of our favorite Judas Priest videos. Working with Egan from Lawson: White Heat was a blast 'in particular' and I'm sure all members of the Society For World Wide Ravage will get a kick out of this video." More...
