L.A. based thrash act Hexen has inked a deal with Pulviersed Records for a new full-length album to be released in 2011. Hexen singer / bass-player Andre Hartoonian commetned:
"Metallic hails from Southern California world of heavy metal! We are excited to announce inking a deal with our new partners Pulverised Records as of October 2010. We have a lot of plans, the first order of business being entering the studio in a few short weeks. We cannot wait to unleash the album we have been working on for a long time and even though we usually don't like to over-hype, the fact that it will blow you all away is still an understatement. Another thing is going on tour January-February with our friends Bonded by Blood, Early Man, Lazarus A.D., and the outstanding... Death Angel. Check back with us on our Myspace frequently to catch all the latest news and studio footage. 2011 is going to be an extravagant year for us. We cannot wait."
Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin added: "HeXeN's mighty debut 'State Of Insurgency' CD along with some of their demo tracks were sent to the Pulverised's office sometime ago and we were jaw-dropped by HeXeN's sound, and we knew in an instant that we had to pick these guys up. I had the pleasure of meeting former Century Media Records president Marco Barbieri when he was in Singapore with Warbringer as their tour manager, whom also highly recommended HeXeN during our previous discussions a few months back. Needless to say, signing the HeXeN deal became a hell lot quicker with Marco representing the band! We are very confident that HeXeN has gathered enough demons for the upcoming new album, and the HeXeN boys definitely know their Thrash Metal inside out!"

Hate Eternal is working on the band's fifth studio album (second for Metal Blade Records) and follow up to "Fury and Flames" once again at Erik Rutan's own Mana Recording Studios. JJ Hrubovcak has been added as the band's bassist.
Front man Erik Rutan offers the following update: "The band has been locked up in Mana Recording Studios doing pre-production for the past 2 months, finishing up songs that we have been writing over the last year in between tours and albums that I've produced, and we feel we have come up with one of Hate Eternal's heaviest, most twisted, evil, melodic, and insane albums yet.
"It was my goal to expand upon what the band has done in the past, and add new dynamics and twists to the traditional, dissonant Hate Eternal style, yet keep it in the same vein. It took the three of us really pushing ourselves, and digging deep into the essence of who we are as musicians and writers and players to create something very unique and special. We cannot wait for everyone to hear what we have in store. Look out for updates from the studio over the next few months."
Persistense has issued the following statement about performing the band's first live show with new guitarist Hein:

Some little mistakes here and there but we decided Hein will stay with the band.
"Right from the start of our show the crowd in front of the stage started a big moshpit and they didn’t stop until we played our last notes. Thanks for that dudes, it was great to have you there! You can check some live material at our YouTube channel. Coming up will be our show as support for Hail of Bullets. This show will take place next sunday at Hangar20, Breda. Since we didn't get a chance to tour our first record 'Under Reprisal' in Europe, we've decided we are going to include a lot of those songs in our set list. We will also be playing a few songs from our latest album 'Vigilance'. Raunchy and Sybreed have agreed to join us on the tour, which I'm very happy about. It’s great to play with such influential musicians and actually really enjoy watching the bands play every night. I've been a fan of these bands for years. So if you think your European asses can out drink a Canadian, come down to the show and let’s see what you got! We'll be hanging out in the crowd and it will be a party every single night. Looking forward to meeting all of you! Cheers" More...

MILITIA and singer Matt Ulrichsen has parted ways, sighting creative differences during the recording sessions of the bands untitled new cd.
The band comments on the decision, "After the initial recording of the opening track 'Seeing Red' the band was dissatisfied with the results and fired him. It was something that had to be done to maintain the integrity of the music. Ulrichsen was replaced by Bay Area singer Dan "DJ" Sanborn, who has given the band a 'heavier' sound while staying true to the integrity of the music. "
"When people hear this they will understand why we made this move. Scott Fraser and Sandborn have been collaborating and the pace of writing has been stepped up ten fold. The band is still on track for an early spring 2011 release. Look for the first track to be posted toward the end of November."

Each week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we shine a light on promising bands coming out of the darkness of the underground. Nashville, TN is the music business center of the United States, and isn’t without its fair share of shadows where bands outside of the mainstream get their start.
This week we feature the best classic speed/thrash metal band you’ve never heard of – Nashville’s “Intruder,” whose roots date back to 1984. We also have a classic metal band by the name of “Oblivion Myth,” and a female-fronted modern band known as, “Love’s Tragedy.”
Because Nashville is such a draw, most of the metal scenes from around the state of Tennessee tend to spill over into Nashville in order to gain exposure. Nashville also boasts more music venues than the surrounding areas. The Exit/In, The Muse, The End, and The Rutledge are popular venues for Nashville’s heavier side.
Formerly known as “Avatar” and “Transgressor,” Intruder made their bones during the heyday of the 1980s, at the same time the “big four” were making theirs. The band released three albums in total and made a brief run with Metal Blade Records before formally splitting up in 1992. Without much support from Metal Blade, the band still enjoyed moderate success with a legion of fans and reunited in 2002. Since then, they have headlined the Headbangers Open Air in Germany and have played the Classic Metal Festival in Ohio and Keep It True Festival in Germany. Their albums feature artwork designed by comic artists Fastner & Larson.
Currently lying in wait in the Nashville underground, Intruder are looking at recording updated versions of their classic songs for a future release, alongside a few new songs. Vocalist Jimmy Hamilton’s style is a classic blend of metal styles, backed up by gang vocals from the rest of the band. Drummer John Pieroni pens most of the lyrics and boasts a distinctly thrash drumming style with fast footwork and progressive leanings. Guitarists Arthur Vinnett and Greg Messick have a highly technical coordinated assault and bassist Chris Veach rounds out the band. Songs from their albums, “Live to Die,” “A Higher Form of Killing,” and “Psycho Savant” can be heard at their MySpace page More...
