Asphyx Posts New Music Video Online

Legendary Dutch death doom elite, Asphyx, recently announced their new, 10th full studio album, "Necroceros," for worldwide release on January 22 via Century Media Records.

Today, Asphyx reveal the album’s first single, "Botox Implosion," which you can check out in a video filmed by Maurice Swinkels / Younique Film (Legion Of the Damned, Exodus, Kataklysm, etc.).

Asphyx frontman Martin van Drunen checked in about the song and its video: "We actually wanted to film this on Sunset Boulevard LA, where most of the pathetic subjects of this song have their residence, but due to the pandemic it was best not to fly over to the USA. So since it's a fast shredding and written in the typical humorous death metal gore tradition track, we put a few laughable elements in it. Fortunately good old Turock in Essen was so friendly to let us film there and where we're usually not that keen on shooting videos, with this one we had quite some fun. Still, it is a helluva brutal tune!" More...

Voivod Uploads New Live Video "Iconspiracy"

Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators, Voivod, will soon return with a much overdue new live release. Entitled "Lost Machine - Live," the album was recorded in Québec City during the worldwide touring cycle for the band’s latest studio album "The Wake," and will be released on November 27 worldwide via Century Media Records.

A second single for the live release is being launched today, so make sure to check out "Iconspiracy" below.

Drummer Michel "Away" Langevin comments: "And now, ‘Iconspiracy’, the second single/video from our upcoming release Lost Machine - Live. Like the video for the first single ‘The Lost Machine’, the footage comes from the Montréal Jazz Fest 2019 and the audio is from the Québec City Summer Fest 2019, where the entire live album was recorded. ‘Iconspiracy’ has become one of our favourite songs to perform on tour since the album The Wake came out in 2018. The video direction is by Felipe Belalcazar and my art was animated by Jaan Silmberg. There are a lot more projects in the works. Meanwhile, have fun with this one!" More...

System Of A Down Releases Two New Songs

It's been 15 years since System Of A Down released new music. For years, fans and press speculated about this, and of late, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive hypothesizing when the band might return to the studio.

Today, motivated by the recently-erupted conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the latter aided by Turkey and accountable for the greatest violence the region has endured in 26 years, System Of A Down - Daron Malakian/guitars, vocals, Serj Tankian/vocals, Shavo Odadjian/bass, and John Dolmayan/drums - announces the release of its first new songs in 15 years: "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz."

Produced by Malakian, who also wrote the music and lyrics, both songs are streaming now on all DSPs and are available for purchase on Bandcamp with band royalties earmarked for the Armenia Fund. You can check out the music video for "Protect The Land" below.

So why now? Last month, profoundly affected by the unwarranted surprise attacks and bombings of civilians perpetrated by Azerbaijan and Turkey (Turkey was responsible for the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 as well as over 100 years of denial), Dolmayan texted his three bandmates. Said Dolmayan, "I texted, 'no matter how we feel about each other, no matter what issues linger from the past, we need to put them aside because this is bigger than System Of A Down and bigger than all of us... we need to do something to support our people.'"

Joined together on a subsequent conference call, everyone voiced the same concern and the vital importance of helping in some way, the way they knew best - music.

"The aggression and injustice being perpetrated against the Armenian people in Artsakh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey is a human rights violation and a war crime," said Tankian. "All of us in System realize this is an existential battle for our people, so this is very personal for us. What we need right now is for the world to put politics aside and support Armenia by sanctioning Turkey and Azerbaijan and recognizing Artsakh." More...

Witherfall comments: "This is a nice a happy one… heavily inspired by an evening on tour in the Czech Republic. Quite possibly one of the most aggressive Witherfall songs and certainly a test of stamina for instrumentalists and voices. During the recording Our producer Jon Schaffer really put us to the test on getting these final takes. Both Witherfall and our team at Century Media felt this song would be the perfect way to introduce our latest offspring ‘Curse of Autumn’. Like any other Witherfall record this one is quite the storm. This is but the first gust of wind…" More...

Blind Guardian Posts New Live Video Online

Blind Guardian will release the special 25th anniversary edition of their "Imaginations From The Other Side album" on December 11th. This edition will contain live recordings and other special versions of the Blind Guardian classics featured on the album. "A brilliant album celebrates its 25th anniversary and it is great to celebrate this in such a bombastic manner. Luckily we filmed our 2016 show in Oberhausen when we performed the entire album live. This is the perfect moment for us to present this masterpiece in so many different ways. An ideal resurrection of precious memories long gone, but not forgotten. This album is made for eternity… I hope. Enjoy", says vocalist Hansi Kürsch.

Today, Blind Guardian reveal a live clip for their classic "Bright Eyes," which can be found below.

Hansi Kürsch comments: "'Bright Eyes' is a godsend. The piece was composed during an unexpected forced break in production. When we were able to continue recording the album, André and I were not entirely happy with the composition, but luckily Marcus and Thomen had recognised the song's potential straight away, so it landed in its raw form on the album without any further intervention on our part. We put it on the album and then it surprisingly turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of the record, or perhaps even our entire career. I have no idea, nowadays, what we did not like back then. The songwriting for Imaginations… was long finished and we were already recording the album, when André got severe problems with his fingers and had to undertake a critical surgery, which as we know now, was fortunately successful. 'Bright Eyes' is without any doubt one of the band’s and the audience's favourite songs, especially when it comes to live shows. One of the ultimate singalongs and therefore one of the absolute highlights in a Blind Guardian concert. Check it out." More...
