If you're tired of all the election coverage and need something amusing to break up the non-stop political material, we've got a new Pit Story this week, courtesy of J.R. from New York act Slam One Down. He had this story to share of a Hellyeah pit having unexpected consequences for the band:
One night Roach and I went to promote our new demo CD at a Hellyeah concert. Roach left me with the CDs to go and mosh. Funny thing was that it was winter and Roach still had his leather jacket on while he was moshing. He looked like such an idiot with that leather jacket on. Plus you all know how sweaty it gets inside a mosh pit, and he had that leather jacket soaked in sweat.
A few days later we took a roadtrip to another gig that we were playing and there was this awful smell in the car on the way up. Yep it was the jacket! It smelled so bad and I think he threw it out that night.
Slam One Down is out now with new album "Who Really Wants To Live Forever," and you can check out tracks from the release at the band's official website or Facebook profile. Be sure to check back in again next Tuesday as we share more mosh pit stories from metal bands.

"The Sons Of Bitches vinyl will be limited to 1000 copies. Pre-orders for limited white wax test pressings, woven patches and exclusive T-shirt designs are currently available. Order yours at this location before it’s too late! Pre-orders end November 15, 2012!"

Aeurtum has checked in with the following update about working on an upcoming new EP:
"Well, the name of the next EP has been settled. 'The Depths of Which These Roots do Bind' is well underway, with 4 of the 6 songs coming along at a relatively good pace. The track listing as it currently stands is:
A Cold Autumn Sun
Shade Of A Behemoth
The Depth Of Which These Roots Do Bind
Frozen Into The Grain
"Artwork concepts are being drawn up and toyed with and everything is going down a much darker road, spiraling ever downward into an ebony and crimson leaved spiral of self pity, moaning and disgust in the most grandest of ways I can muster.
"This EP is heralding a much more doom/american black metal vibe than previously, which 'The Fall' merely hinted at with the two stand out tracks 'Dissolved...' and 'Uttered,' so in the hope of not sounding too cliché, 'expect the unexpected' and 'Keep watching the skies folks'... or something like that..." In preparation for the release of the band's new album on November 19th, Sweden's Troubled Horse has unveiled another new song from "Step Inside." Decibel Magazine has partnered up with Metal Blade/Rise Above for the exclusive stream of "Another Man's Name." Check out the song right here.
Step Inside, as described by Terrorizer Magazine, "comprises elements of '60's soul and '70's rock, culminating in some seriously catchy songs." The previously posted first single from the album, "One Step Closer to My Grave," can be heard now at this location. Metal Blade Records also commented:
"Troubled Horse is a hotly-tipped heavy garage rock band from Orebro, Sweden. A town that brought us a second wave of vitally cool hard rock bands such as Witchcraft and Graveyard. Coincidentally, Troubled Horse features three members of the original Witchraft line-up, one of which (bassist Ola Henriksson) is still a current member. Lead guitarist John Hoyles parted ways from Witchcraft a few years ago to concentrate on his other band, Spiders and these frantic rockers, of course. More...

"Please spread this link around so that fans wanting to contribute can do so officially and not lose money to unauthorized bootleggers who may be selling shirts for their own profit."
"The Sniper" (reviewed here), the new release from Scelerata, is available today via Nightmare Records.
In conjunction with the album's release, Scelerata has teamed up with GuitarWorld.com for an exclusive full album stream. Check out "The Sniper" over at this location. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The Sniper presents a stunning vocal performance from Fabio Juan, showing a more mature band that delivers a heavier more aggressive sound, beautifully mixing power metal and melodic progressive elements ranging from angst ridden lyrics of corruption to sorrowful love lost. The huge and intricate production makes this album a must hear for any true metal fan.
"The Sniper was produced, mixed and mastered by Charlie Bauerfeind with guitarist Renato Osorio. The album also features Andi Deris (Helloween) and Paul Di'Anno (ex-Iron Maiden) as very special guests, who not only sing but helped compose and co-write the songs." More...
French black metal act Aosoth is currently working on the follow-up to the band's 2011 release "III." The as-yet-untitled album is tentatively slated for a March/April 2013 release and will consist of seven new tracks and 55 minutes of music. Aosoth guitarist BST has issued the following statement:
"We have entered the infamous Bst Studios once again to work on our fourth album and we are confident that this will be our most elaborate, twisted, and sick release so far. Those who did not like the direction we took with the previous record, probably will hate this one even more. We're on the second day of tracking guitars now, and things are going smoothly, so to speak."
More updates on the band will follow shortly. See Aosoth live at the following dates:
10.11.2012 - Metz, France
24.11.2012 - Västerås, Sweden

Chicago act Dirge Within announced the recruitment of new vocalist Travis Neal late last month, and now Travis has posted the following statement online about joining the band:
"Hello to all the Dirge Within fans out there and thank you for the amazingly warm welcome!! It is always a difficult situation when an established band loses they’re front man and brings in a new voice in the attempts to fill the original vocalists shoes. It can either work or not. I have a great feeling that you all will be extremely happy with the new changes in the band!! My respect to Jerms and all of his future endeavors! He is a great front man with a strong voice, I have no doubt that he will continue to move forward in his musical career.
"I am extremely happy to be a part of the DW family, I have known Shaun Glass for a long time and it is very cool to finally be able to collaborate with him in a band together! A couple weeks ago I joined Shaun along with Frankie, Jimmy and Chuck in Chicago for some amazing rehearsal sessions as well as some great times! We all have clicked extremely well and the chemistry shows! Like it was meant to be! Again, I have a great feeling that you all are gonna really dig the material that we are working on… A lot of you know of me from my work in Divine Heresy as well as other projects that I have been involved with. I know a lot of you that know of me know that I tend to keep busy and tend to keep a full plate. I have multiple 'projects' that are out and floating around. I am a musician and truly love to create and play music. I do a lot of studio projects with friends and other musicians out there and that is why you all will see my involvement in several projects and that is exactly what they are... 'projects,' nothing that will be toured to support. Just studio projects. Truth be told, I only have one band that is active (Cyanide Serenity) and now Dirge Within will be the second band that is active. More...

Arizona Death Unit Reign Of Vengeance (ROV) has released the new single "Fuck The Recession: Kill Those That Caused It" today. The song will appear on the upcoming EP "The Final Solution: The Final Rebellion," which is scheduled for a November 20th release on ROV imprint Synister Empire Records. Stream the single below. ROV vocalist Marshall Beck released the following statement about the upcoming EP:
'The Final Solution: The Final Rebellion' is an EP crafted in the standard Reign Of Vengeance new-school, horror-oriented, death metal fashion. As always this upcoming ROV album features musicians of the already proven and established top tier Metal and music industry Elite.More...
Contrary to ROV's previous release, 'The Final Solution: The Final Rebellion' is a concept EP. While other bands are currently tossing the [The All Seeing Eye] symbol around because it seems like the trendy thing to do, ROV front man Marshall 'Fucking' Beck has grown to know its aims, its religion, and the goals of its sects of the powerful and of the Elite. He has grown to know THE faith in its power, its guidance, and the rewards for those that abide by its will.
With the age of Osiris having ended and the age of Isis coming to a close the New World Age (Order) of Horus shall bring forth a world peace that shall last throughout the remaining aeons of man'kind's' time. The second form of Atlantis shall rise forth and bring with it ONLY the enlightened and illuminated individuals.
With every revolution there is always ascension. Therefore, in order for ITS quest for world peace to be complete there must first be a massive internment and conflagration/decontamination of the flesh from billions, the flesh of the non-believers and ascenders from ITS Faith. ROV's 'The Final Solution: The Final Rebellion' focuses on what will enable this holocaust as well as how it will transpire through the eyes of the rebellious tiers, the common tiers and the upper Elite tiers. But, do not worry common civilians-(vermin), this album is all just a work of fiction.... Sleep well."

Reversed Records is pleased to announce the signing of Origin drummer John Longstreth (Gorguts, Crator). Longstreth will join forces with manager/producer/engineer Rob Shallcross and the growing list of Reversed Records clients that includes Gene Hoglan, Steve Asheim (Deicide, Order Of Ennead), West of Hell, Meldrum, and Cocaine Moustache. The label comments:
"John Longstreth, is currently considered one of the most proficient drummers in the modern Death Metal musical scene. Longstreth has spent his career performing live and recording with the likes of Origin, Dimmak, Crator, Gorguts, Dying Fetus, The Red Chord, Exhumed, The Jason Morley project and Imperial Foeticide. Displaying incredible technique (such as seemingly unattainable blast beats, astonishing speed, control and endurance) as well as a solid command of versatility behind the drums, John is quickly becoming a highly reputable influence in the world of drumming."
John Longstreth comments on signing with Reversed Records Management: "Well, ladies n' gentlemen, what can I say?! I'm extremely happy here! As you can see this is a pretty interesting announcement and we are all very excited about it. Rob and I have been going back and fourth over the phone and Internet for a couple of months, the discussions keep getting better and better. How could I not feel completely honoured to be part of a family that includes the legendary and influential likes of Steve Asheim and Gene Hoglan?!?
"If you've followed my work in the past then it should make perfect sense as to why I would take on personal management. I've never been a person to sit still and I tend to wander. It always feels like there's one more little thing I can do behind the kit that takes me in a different direction. For me different directions are fun. I feel that they are healthy and essential for personal growth. Lastly to keep everyone up to date, at the moment I am writing for my newest project Crator, Origin hits the studio in 2013, there are also plans to expand my career into global education and session work in the coming years."

Comments Basick Records label boss, Barley Phillips: "When a band mixes the discordant melody of Deftones with the sheer ferocity and filth of bands like Car Bomb and Ion Dissonance, I have no choice but to sit up and pay attention. These guys slay; hearing something so goddamn raw and unhinged in an age of digital over-editing is just so refreshing."

In a switching of gears from our last premiere, it's time for something a little more Fall appropriate: depressive black metal, but with a serious twist.
After seeing a U.K. stream through Zero Tolerance, Metalunderground.com is now proud to host the North American exclusive premiere of Germ's appropriately titled "Loss" (reviewed here).
Check out all six devastatingly avant-garde tracks from the release below (the player may take a few moments to load the first song after hitting "play"). The music speaks for itself, but if you want to know what you are about to get into, consider the ending lines of our review: "If David Bowie decided to do an album with Burzum, while both were under the influence of LSD, the end result would likely be something like 'Loss.' This one’s going to strongly appeal to fans of the insanity of Devin Townsend who want the black metal cred of Peccatum to boot."
You can also see what band mastermind Tim Yatras had to say about the release himself in this recent interview.
Begun as a solo project by Austere member Tim, Germ was conceived as early as 2003. The idea behind Germ was to create something that not only combined atmospheric black metal and rock - Tim has become known for with his love of classical, pop and electronic styles of music - but to create an image and visual aspect to accompany the music.

Spanish symphonic metal act Diabulus In Musica announced the departure of bassist Álex Sanz , drummer Xabier Jareño and guitarist Adrián M. Vallejo from the band. The departure has been known for some time, and the members cite musical direction as the cause. The final show for the current incarnation of the band will be on November 30, 2012 for the release party of "Itzalen Sua," the DVD and book project of Xanti Rodriguez, the music soundtrack of which was composed by the band. Vocalist Zuberoa Aznárez made the following announcement on Facebook:
"We are very sad to announce the departure of Adrián, Álex and Xabi from Diabulus in Musica. The only reason is that they don't feel so excited about this music style anymore, so we cannot do but respect and understand this decision. Their last show with DiM will be the release party of 'Itzalen Sua' in November 30th.
"Anyway, this is not the end! We knew this decision since a few months now, so we have been working with new awesome musicians to continue playing shows and making new music, then... Be ready for more powerful symphonic & modern metal in the future!! We will introduce the new members in January the 10th, when we will play another show to present the project 'Itzalen Sua' in Azpeitia."
