Cortland, New York based NEW ANIMAL has decided to give away their new album "Growth and Decay" for free to fans that attend their shows. They will, of course, accept a donation if one is offered, but ask for nothing but the fans devotion in return. NEW ANIMAL can be compared to bands such as STAIND, A PERFECT CIRCLE, and BREAKING BENJAMIN, but expands in its own unique genre which includes complex lead guitar work, and fluid ambient guitar tones. The four members of NEW ANIMAL show a rounded knowledge of their instruments, and come together to produce music not quite like any other. Lyrics in many of the songs deal with personal experience, and allow for the overall production of very solid and original music.
Several songs from "Growth and Decay" can be streamed online at the band's Myspace.
The Decimation of the Nation 2 Tour is packed with big names and even bigger music. Ryan Bartek has made his new book "The Big Shiny Prison" available as a free PDF download. The book can be found at this location. "The Big Shiny Prison" is an expose on various forms of underground music ranging from extreme metal to punk to rock. Interviews are included in the book with bands such as Cephalic Carnage, Pig Destroyer, and Abysmal Dawn. Bartek issued the following statement about the book:
"My name is Ryan Bartek. For the past 3 years I’ve sacrificed everything for the successful completion of this project. I spent a year on the road, another year completing & shopping it, and another year of total rejection. It is only karmically fitting that both the demise of magazine & book publishing come in one fell swoop.
"I was never in it for the money, nor the aspect of celebrity. I have spent an upwards of $10,000 on it, which I remark only to underline my absolute sincerity. No one would deny its quality -- but the raw nature of the work, as well as its excessive length, made it impossible to pigeon hole or successfully shop. Nothing quite like it has ever surfaced, at least not in the format I’ve undertaken.
"After this seemingly endless struggle, I have decided to offer it to the public domain. While I retain the copyright/trademark, I both encourage and support file sharing. It is my only wish that this manuscript be circulated & appreciated. Perhaps when all is said and done, someone might offer a physical print run."
Sweden's Steel Attack has issued the following announcement about re-forming:
"We are glad to inform you that Steel Attack is back together again and we will do at least one show with the original members Steve Steel (Stefan Westerberg 'Carnal Forge') John Allan, Dennis Westman & Andereas de Vera from the two first Steel Attack albums. We will only play songs from 'where mankind fails' and 'Fall into madness.' We did our first rehearsal yesterday in 10 years and it sounded like we never been apart! All updates will be posted later on with date and venue. Also a video from our rehearhal will be online soon!"
Vocalist Michael Poulson recently collapsed on stage while performing in Holland. Poulson has issued the following statement about the incident:
"Everyone, I'm on my feet again, and I’m doing fine. I got really sick when the European tour started, shitting/puking all over the place, muscle ache and high fever, and couldn’t really eat any thing without feeling bad. But that had happened so many times before, and nothing was going to stop me doing what I love the most. Being on stage and playing the songs for you guys and ladies. 10 minutes before stage time I felt really bad and dizzy, and my whole body was really heavy. I felt weak and I had chest pain while breathing. I only remember playing the 2 first songs. Every time I was trying to breath I felt dizzy and couldn’t see anything else but sharp light/stars. I couldn’t do my vocals well or move well since the energy was simply not there. My mind and body were not working together and it ended with a collapse, and I was rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctors said that it was crazy to play the shows while I was sick, and they were surprised that it didn’t happen to me earlier. All the tests they did at the hospital were fine, and every thing looked good. Actually I’m in really good shape and my heart and blood are fine.
"I’m sorry to let you people down, but in my heart I know you understand, and I thank you so much for your concern and kind words and support. I owe you everything. I will be back on my feet to kick some ass again in the US from December 5th supporting Metallica. There will be another show in the beginning of the new year, so keep an eye on our website."

The feedback on our new album ‘16.6 –Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead’ was a great positive surprise and the second highest chart entry in Germany (#46) for Primal Fear. Other cool chart information from Sweden and Japan followed.
"We started our ‘16.6’ tour in Moscow this year and after some festivals, we returned to South America with special guests „Sinner’. Our guitarist Magnus became father of twins and again (like in 1999 and 2007) Alex Beyrodt was the man fort he job. The adventure started..... and the question was: how can you survive 8 days without sleep - the shows in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil were fantastic and even we came home exhausted & jetlagged, everyone was satisfied. After some days of rest, we started our first little headlining tour through North America. We expected just a new start of our activities there, but most of the shows were a blast, especially Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York & Montreal. More...
