The new album "King of Elves" from Moscow symphonic black metal act Emerald Night will be released by year's end through Musica Productions. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The theme for the album's title track served as an old ballad 'Der Erlkonig,' written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1782. The plot is familiar to everyone from childhood: in a dark forest at night the galloping horseman's late with a young son and the boy hears the voice of the forest king who wants to kidnap him. In Russia, this work is called - 'Forest King.' The most famous translation is from Vasily Zhukovsky, and there are also versions of Grigoriev, Fet and others. Emerald Night appealed to the source and presented their vision of Goethe's ballad. The song combines bright and impetuous music to create a truly enchanting atmosphere.
"King of Elves is the logical continuation of the predecessor album 'Mirror of Trolls' and full of a mysterious theme of fantasy. Style has not changed - it is the same melodic sympho black with clear influence of folk. There are frequent changes of mood - rapid black metal melodies alternate with crystal tinkling streams and voices of forest fairies. The album has the sounds of luxurious women's voices (Runa and Darrana), complemented by three black metal scream-characters.
"As with the previous album, the vocals are shared between Dismael and Wsegard, also joined by Demether Grail - longtime vocalist and leader of Arcane Grail. The album becomes a real musical theater, where all the images are so realistic that you can even feel their breath! More...

Necrovation has issued the following announcement about lineup changes and going on hiatus to write new material:
"Short update here. Not much has went in the right direction since we recorded our self titled album. Founding members S. Gadd & A. Bünger are the only ones left in the band since having parted ways with fairly new guitarist F. Almström and good old bass player and friend A. Wanstadius.
"We tried to suit up as a 3 piece with good friend W. Brunn to be able to do some shows, but after a while of trying we decided to lay low and not rush recruiting.
"We'll be focusing on some new material instead. So, going underneath for a while, to surface when the time is right. When ever that is." More...
To rock fans and musicians alike Bruce Kulick made himself a name as the guitarist of Meat Loaf during the "Bat Out Of Hell" tour in 1978. After that he also joined Michael Bolton, but it wasn't until the mid eighties that he gained worldwide notoriety by joining Kiss during the unmasked era for a relationship that was to last twelve years. In those years he put his lead guitar stamp on hits such as "Crazy, Crazy Nights" and "God Gave Rock'n Roll To You."
Bruce has just been in the studio to record some lead guitar tracks for the forthcoming Rock Opera of Tobias Sammet‘s Avantasia project, due out in March 2013. Bruce had already appeared on the previous Avantasia album while Tobias sang guest vocals on Bruce‘s last solo album “BK3,“ which featured guests such as Gene Simmons of KISS and Steve Lukather of Toto.
Tobias says: “Bruce and I have been friends for some years now, he is a lovely person and an amazing guitarist. It was really obvious I would ask him to come on-board for Avantasia once again. Two of the tracks he plays on are more than 10 minutes long, and they include screaming and whammy-bar driven stuff as well as anthemic Meat Loafish type melodies. I love it because it's got such an old school quality, and Bruce just has it! Class act!“
Avantasia will also hit the stages again in April 2013, right after the release of the new CD.
Tobias' tour management is currently working on a headlining indoor tour for Avantasia in April. The group will also play a few chosen summer festivals, and a South American and Asian tour is planned for late summer.

Russian death metal act Trigger has released the band's first album "Apocalypse Tomorrow" through Nitroatmosfericum Records, and a teaser trailer is available below. The band also comments:
"This is our first ‘child’ which is going to appear and crush, dismember, scatter throughout the area and just enrapture all fans of death metal. Considering the title and in anticipation of the Apocalypse in December 2012, the album reflects the themes which vary from burials and fantasies to the real world with its human fears, deadly diseases, social anomalies turning into the inevitable, general chaos and the apocalypse itself! This is a new view upon the old, forgotten and hackneyed things which once were just an illusion, but they are now quickly developing into an inescapable reality!"

"In April of 2010 the band’s third album 'Generation Wild' pretty much summed up the extraordinary but yet tragic history of a band, determined to never give up their dream. Deathember has posted a pre-production version of the song "Spirals" online, which can be heard below. The band also commented on finishing the recording for a new album:
"The recordings of our debut album are done and have been sent to mix/mastering. We were working on a huge project to do a 'making of' documentary about the album, these plans have been modified slightly due to the fact that our guitarist got assaulted and robbed of his computer whilst taking all the video files from the drum recording/editing and first days of guitar recording home to do a backup.
"We are going to make the best of it and shoot some interesting post-studio stuff. There will still be a 'making of' and there will be studio updates but it will take some more time for us to make something useful out of the material that we still got left. Expect an interesting dive into the Deathember world!" More...

From the one man musical force behind Trillion Red's "Metaphere" comes a new project by the name of King Carnage. Lending and restarting from the 1994 occult demo "Ligeia: In Death Overshadow Thee," King Carnage is an old school black/death Metal band with a new bloody edge.

Actually recorded two years ago, this demo version features updated vocals. "We would also like to thank Harald Gerdes from Northerion and The Damnation and Timo Pruehn from Tears Of Decay and Misconceived. They also were also willing to help us out during the last shows. A big thank-you goes out to Namrasit - the band in which David is still going to play the guitar - and to our buddy and former bassist Amko who was so kind to lend his equipment to David. Having said this: Welcome David!" More...
Las Vegas female fronted act .bipolar. self released sixth album "Amor Fati" earlier this month, and tracks from the release are now available for streaming through the player below or over at the band's official website here. The band also commented:
".bipolar. one of Las Vegas’ only female fronted metal bands recorded their follow up to 2010’s Valley of Fire with producer Jason Constantine. The album Amor Fati features six songs The Opening, False, See You Next Tuesday, Marla Singer, Callow, and Adament.
"This release comes just five months before .bipolar. celebrates ten years as a band. Forming in 2003 in Sacramento the band worked hard to establish themselves as a strong DIY female fronted metal band. In 2004 they were recognized with an award from the Sacramento News & Review for Best local Metal/Hard Rock Band. After four albums, a few line-up changes and numerous shows vocalist Charlie and drummer Brian Hanks moved to Las Vegas in 2008.
"Shortly after relocating the duo found bass player Chris Kmit and a former guitar player with whom they recorded Valley of Fire and built a reputation as a professional and dedicated DIY metal band within Las Vegas’ scene. Amor Fati features songs written with new guitar player Rob Bauer who joined last July.
"In support of the new release .bipolar. has shows lined up for early 2013. On January 12th at the Cheyenne Saloon in Las Vegas they will be supporting Asesino featuring members of Fear Factory and Soulfly." More...

"Sole Creation" will be coming to shops on the 5th of February in Europe and 19th of February in North Amercia through Agonia Records. The band's 3rd album from will consist of 4 new tracks and 45 minutes of music, with a guest appearance of John Doe from Craft. The album was recorded at Teknikkompaniet (Vetlanda, Sweden) by Peter Lundin and was mixed and mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult Of Luna fame.
Kongh's front-man, David Johansson, commented: "After a very long time of hard work, this album is finally ready for release. We couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out and I really think it is the best Kongh material so far. For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. In my opinion, the album is more dynamic and has much more emphasis on melodies than our previous works. At the same time it maintains the harshness and it's undoubtedly the heaviest slab of metal we've done as well."
The track listing is:
1. Sole Creation
2. Tamed Brute
3. The Portals
