After recruiting a new bassist earlier this month, The May 4th Massacre has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:
"It takes a long time to find who you really are. An even longer time to find what a group of collective creative individuals should be. This band has gone through a lot of changes over the years, and always endured, but at some point you have to destroy what you’ve built so you can create something more.
"We’re not the same people we were when this band was started and we don’t make the same music anymore. That being said The May 4th Massacre is no more. We will be taking time off to write and work on things we feel we need to musically as well as personally. The members will return to music in new forms.
"The May 4th Massacre will perform on New Year’s Eve with Boysetsfire at the note in West Chester and then we will be playing a final show in Delaware soon after TBA. All of the support over the years has meant the world to us, and we hope to see all of you there."

"Led by former Savatage vocalist Zak Stevens, the 12-track 'Seasons Will Fall' promises to be the band’s strongest album to date both musically and sonically blending Stevens’ history and unique 'Savatage style' with the fresh sounds he’s meticulously developed with CIIC — a commanding fusion of metal and hard rock, powered by his passionate melodic rock vocals. From the howling guitar riffs of 'Diamond Blade' and 'Killing Death' to the energetic sound of 'Never Gonna Stop,' the album contains everything you want from a heavy rock album.
"EarMUSIC/Edel and Zak Stevens have enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success together over the years with Savatage’s Dead Winter Dead (1995) and The Wake of Magellan (1997), true milestones of hard rock/heavy metal and some of the highest charting metal success stories of the ‘90s."

We have the right album along with a fantastic new label. The timing of all this will take the upcoming world tour to an entirely new level. This is a totally untapped market for us in terms of live performances, and we're looking forward to bringing the show to our Canadian fans alongside Annex Theory! It'll be some very wintry driving for us, so if you live along the tour routing, come on out and give us a proper Canadian welcome!"
Continued vocalist JJ "Shiv" Polachek: "We can't wait to finally hit the great north with such a sick band like Annex Theory! These shows will be special to everyone who attends, because due to the fact that we have to fill up a headlining time slot, we get to play 'Throes of Absolution' in its entirety! So make sure to come out and enjoy some epic BDC jams, and generate some heat by moshing and headbanging your balls off with us! I can't wait to wear ten layers of clothing at all times! Today, Neurosis has released the following statement about changes to upcoming live performances and parting with the band's visual artist:
“As of today, after much thought and discussion, visual projections as we have presented them over the last 20 years will no longer be part of Neurosis live shows.
“We are going to begin the process of reinventing our live presentation. This process will begin at zero, allowing the music to speak for itself and lead us where it may. Whatever form or however long this may take is unknown.
“This also signals a parting of the ways with our visual artist of the last twelve years, Josh Graham. Josh’s tireless work and talent came at a time when we really needed it and carried us gracefully into the video age with original content we couldn’t have dreamed of when we were just starting out. Our parting comes from a place of mutual respect, friendship and understanding. We all agree that this is a step Neurosis has to take and are open to working together on specific projects in the future. We wish him success and the best of luck with all of his own musical endeavors and artistic passions. More...

"Making the decision to sign to an International label for their debut is what they think is best for the band....to get their music to even more people...to build more fans!!"

3. Mr's Allardyce
4. The Germ Of Distorted Lore
5. To Serve The Insane
6. Poor Jessica's Drifted Away
7. A Palpitation's Warning
Founding frontman King Fowley had the following to say about the upcoming album: "This record will be a very produced musical journey that will capture the complete morbid side of Deceased. If we do what we are setting out to do, it will ooze of dark melody without forgetting the rough aggressive edges and catchiness in the songwriting that we've kept in our sound since day one. There will be a complete haunting aura throughout the record! A few songs will be lengthy tracks, including a 15-minute ride. Fitting interludes will lock in the actual tracks, and little jolts of madness will also rear their ugly heads from time to time. This is a musical adventure we've been waiting to take, and now's the time. Get out your woolen overcoats, the funeral is about to begin...."
In other recent news, Hells Headbangers also recently reissued Deceased's "Supernatural Addiction" on CD, with an LP version coming January 23rd. Featuring five bonus demo tracks and extensive liner notes from founding frontman King Fowley, "Supernatural Addiction" was originally released in 2000 on Relapse Records. "We are currently in the studio recording our next full length album 'An Olden Tale' and it will be the perfect platform to display Frankie's absolutely monster guitar skills! We are more than excited to begin the next chapter of VESPERIA! Welcome to the band Frankie!

Italian metal act Mesmerize, featuring ex-Time Machine vocalist Folco Orlandini, announced that the band's fifth album will be entitled "Paintropy." The mix of the album was recorded at Octopussy Studios last week. "Paintropy" will mark the band's first full length release in eight years (2005's "Stainless").
Guitarist Piero Paravidino commented on the title and concept of the album: "'Paintropy' is a word that combines the concepts of 'Pain' and 'Entropy' and it refers to a chaotic and painful state of mind, coming from the aggregation of negative events or emotions. In turn, this state can cause a reaction of total inertia or the exact opposite, unleashing a downright furious transformation. These concepts will be depicted both in the songs and in the graphics of the album."
"Paintropy" is expected for release via Punishment 18 Records in the Spring of 2013 when the band will celebrate its 25th Anniversary. A small teaser of the cover can be seen here: More...
