Germany's The Ocean has issued an update on their vocalist situation and the progress of their follow up to 2007's "Precambrian." Robin Staps comments, "We are happy to announce Mr. Loïc Rossetti as tour new vocalist. "We are looking forward to weeks and months of intense touring in the future and a new era in the story of our lives!"
"Having Loïc in the band enables me to do what I've always wanted to do with this band. His voice is strong and expressive and his variety of tone and the ease with which he switches between different vocal styles really amazing. There are no limits anymore. His screams are devastating, but his most valuable quality is his singing voice, which we will employ much more on the upcoming album." More...
German viking metallers Varg have issued the following statement about releasing their new album "Blutaar" on a label other than Nuclear Blast:
"Varg & Nuclear Blast go separate ways. Actually everything seemed to be set in stone, we were astonished about the directness of Nuclear Blast and they on their part were enthusiastic about our new album 'Blutaar', but last minute there were some matters in difference we could not agree about.
"Varg and Nuclear Blast hereby go separate ways, because both could not agree upon their own basic ideas of music, promotion and content without lowering one's sights. So there will be no 'Varg Flip-Flops.' A new partner who is fitting us and our ideas much better is already on our side and 'Blutaar' will now spread its wings one week later on Jan. 29th 2010!"
Danish hard rock band PRETTY MAIDS is will enter the studio in January to begin recording their new studio album for a late spring/early summer release on Frontiers Records.
PRETTY MAIDS' last album, entitled "Wake Up To The Real World", was released in November 2006 still on Frontiers Records. Singer Ronnie Atkins stated about the CD, "The new record has all the trademarks a good PRETTY MAIDS album should have, and that's the overall combination of good melodies and strong guitar riffs. But the key word, as far as I'm concerned, is it's gotta be melodic: whether it's the heavier and faster tracks or the more ballad/AOR-oriented kind of stuff; in other words 'good songs', and I think the album has got that!"
Spanish metal band DARKSUN will be performing at the Easter Metal Fest on April 4, 2010 at La Riviera in Madrid, Spain. KAMELOT will be headlining, with ADAGIO and HEAVENWOOD also on the bill.
FINNTROLL has revealed that their new album, "Nifelvind," will be release in February 2010. Previously rumored to be named "Mot Skuggornas Värld," "Nifelvind" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila (add any big Finnish Metal band for namedropping) at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band's own guitarist Skrymer.
FINNTROLL comments on the album as follows:
“After tough and hectic weeks in the studio, due to lack of time and summer festivals, we are now really, really pleased with the results. 'Nifelvind' is the most advanced and mature FINNTROLL-album to date, with musical themes ranging from powerful death metal riffs to dark soundtracks, from pounding black metal to groovy 80's pop-music. All this is accompanied by our trademark sound, lots of never-before-heard instruments in the metal-scene, folklore and legends that make it overall the most versatile album we have created so far.”
The tracklisting for "Nifelvind" is as follows:
1. Blodmarsch (intro)
3. Den Frusna Munnen
4. Ett Norrskensdåd
5. I Trädens Sång
6. Tiden Utan Tid
8. Mot Skuggornas Värld
9. Under Bergets Rot
The exact release dates are as follows:
FINLAND: Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Tennessee progressive tech metallers The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza are hard at work, recording their third album, "Danza III: The Series Of Unfortunate Events," at Anthem Productions with Jeremiah Scott and Steve Blackmon. Check out the report below.
The band reports that "Danza III"'s themes are exactly what the title suggests - a chronicle of unfortunate events - personal, social, political, and global.
Frontman Jessie Freeland describes the music: "We see it as an accumulation of Danza I and II combined. We spent a lot of time structuring the album with three main musical elements, those being tech, groove, and ambience. It's a long, pissed-off and sad emotional roller coaster."
"Danza III" will see a 2010 release on Black Market Activities. In the meantime, the band has posted several pre-production previews for streaming on their MySpace page.
Just For Fun

Morbid Sin's "Sins of the Flesh" will finally see a CD release through Stormspell Records.
Morbid Sin was formed by Bobby Lucas (ex-SEVEN WITCHES and current OVERLORDE singer) in 1985 during his senior year of high school. Influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Overkill, Mercyful Fate, and Exciter, MORBID SIN was a blend of tempo-changes, heavy chugging riffs, piercing screams, melody, and bombastic drumming.
"Sins of the Flesh" was the one and only Morbid Sin album so far, recorded in 1998, but shelved and never released until today. Fans of US classic/power metal a-la HELSTAR, SEVEN WITCHES, OVERLORDE, RAVENSTHORN, etc. should take note.
"Sins of the Flesh" is expected to be released in February 2010, with original artwork by Bobby "Leatherlungs" Lucas viewable here.
Also expected in February is "The Arrival of the Sin / Cauldron of Souls" CD. This CD contains their two classic demos from 1988 and 1992.
