Italy's Southern hard rock act Tombstone Highway is to release a debut studio album entitled "Ruralizer" on the 26th of February in Europe and 19th of March in the USA via Agonia Records. Three tracks from "Ruralizer" can be heard at Tombstone Highway's Reverbnation profile here. The cover artwork and track listing is available below, and Agonia Records commented:
"The music of Tombstone Highway is a classic blend of feisty Stoner/Southern-Rock and Doom Metal, with catchy guitar solos and old-school heavy metal parts that may remind of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Corrison Of Conformity, Pride and Glory, Down, Black Sabbath, or even ZZ Top riffage. Apart from Hard Rock instruments, the band uses also a banjo and Hammond organs.
"Ruralizer will consist of 8 original songs and a cover of Mountain's Mississippi Queen with a playing time of almost 50 minutes and will be made available on Digipack CD and digital download. It was recorded at Elfo Studios by Daniele Mandelli who is also in charge of mix and mastering."
The band adds: "We're very proud of how the album came out and we strongly believe it's the perfect way to begin our legacy. People into heavy, ballsy southern-tinged Hard Rock should take note!"

Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have confirmed the addition of Matt Ares to the band as their new vocalist and bassist, following the departure of former front man Jon Macak.
The band has started working on the follow-up to the 2011 debut album, "Generation Why?" with the new album due to be released in 2013. The band comments:
"Over the past few months we have been writing and demoing songs for the next album. During that time, we felt that the chemistry between Jon and the rest of the band wasn't as strong as it needed to be. We decided to move on, and find someone that shared the same passion to create the music that we've always wanted to make. We wish Jon all the best, and we want to thank him for being a part of this band.
"We are extremely excited to announce and welcome Matt Ares into the band as vocalist and bassist. Matt has really been a breath of fresh air for us, and in the first two weeks of jamming with him we were able to create an entirely new batch of songs and finish demoing the second album. Matt's voice and playing add new dimensions to our sound, and we can't wait for everyone to hear the band now. Thanks for always supporting, and keep your ears open for a new Diamond Plate record in 2013!" More...

Well this is the theme offered to you by The Addication and their self-titled debut album is coming out on 21st December through Inverse Records.
"By blending traditional thrash metal with some beautiful melodies and dark themes, The Addication manage to produce a package which sounds original and fresh, but also reminds the listener of the band's influences. Shredding guitars, pounding kick drums, ballsy vocals mixed together in these guys' twisted minds, combined with killer sounds and tons of pure ATTITUDE. That's what this melodic thrash metal album is made of! Fuckin 'METAL!!" More...
Surrounded By Monsters has dropped off the band's remaining tour dates with The Bunny The Bear. A video update from the band explaining the situation can be viewed below, and Surrounded By Monsters also commented:
"We, Surrounded By Monsters, regret to inform our fans that we have decided to drop the remaining dates on The Bunny The Bear tour. This is a decision made by Surrounded By Monsters and not anyone else. We are very sorry to those who were planning on coming to see us at the scheduled shows, but we refuse to continue to support a band like The Bunny The Bear.
"From the start of this tour The Bunny The Bear has been disrespectful and confrontational to ticket holders by calling people in the audience derogatory remarks, to canceling sets because not enough people were in the audience for them to care. This is not something that we as a band support or endorse and we will not tolerate it any further. Once again, we are very sorry to those who were coming out to see us on this tour.
"We hate canceling shows, but under these circumstances we feel it is our only option. It is the fans and their support that make a bands growth and life possible, and by no means should The Bunny The Bear think they have the right to treat people the way they do. No band should EVER put themselves above their fans."
Corey Taylor and Josh Rand of Stone Sour were recently interviewed by the German site Pitcam.TV fresh off a plane from the U.S. Check out the video below to see the band describe the concept behind new album "House of Gold & Bones Part 1."
Legendary Swedish act Opeth performed an unplugged show in London earlier this month, with footage from the show available here. Roadrunner Records has now conducted an interview directly with band frontman Mikael Akerfeldt about the show and footage being recorded from several unplugged gigs which may be released down the line. Excerpts from the interview follow, or you can read the full thing right here.
RR: You played what was described as your first-ever “unplugged” show earlier this month at Union Chapel in London, but you were playing electric instruments, so how was it different from a regular Opeth gig?
Well, none of the so-called “unplugged” shows are really unplugged, because there’s always microphones [laughs], even if you’ve got acoustic guitars. But we just played some more mellow stuff, I guess. We’ve got a bunch of those songs, so it was kind of easy for us to do that. The problem we had was that the dB limit in Union Chapel, where we played, was 85 dB, so we had to have the amps on really low. That was the only problem that we noticed, really. Other than that, it was fun. It was a bit like throwing ourselves off a cliff in a way, because out of the 10 or 11 songs that we played, I think half of them were songs we’d never played before. So it was interesting. But it went really well. I was quite happy with it.
RR: You're doing two more shows like this, in Germany; are you filming or recording these shows at all?
We bought some type of rig, so we can record every show. I’m not sure if we’re recording every show, but we did record the London show, and we’re probably gonna continue recording whenever we can. But I’m not sure what we’re doing with that stuff, to be honest. It’s always good to have material, and maybe further down the line, if we have a bunch of shows recorded we can pick and choose the best segments of the shows and maybe put something out, but we don’t know yet.More...

Bobby Jarzombek – Drums (Rob Halford, Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos, Sebastian Bach, Iced Earth)

Kelly Sundown Carpenter - Vocals (Beyond Twilight, Darkology, Epysode, Outworld) and

All the guys in the matrix are amongst my personal favourites and have been it for years. As with any 'supergroup,' bringing together the best talent doesn't mean things will work out - however in this case it did. It's an absolute pleasure to work with each one of these great musicians - on every level.
Zierler also goes on to describe the music: “It’s a journey through my musical moods, brutal, nightmarishly technical, crushingly dark and very progressive. The performances on this album are simply inhuman, just a smashing and fantastic job by everyone involved.” More...

"The album title refers to Charles Baudelaire's (French author and poet 1821 - 1867) famous poem collection 'Flowers of Evil' (Les Fleurs du Mal in French) that caused such an upset of emotions in France that the author was brought to court and got fined for 'insulting the public' with six of the poems, that remained forbidden in France until 1949 when the ban was finally lifted.
"The spirit of the project is a tribute to Baudelaire, and is imbued into both music and artwork. The album was recorded at Adulruna studio, located in a separate building next to Johnsson's decadent 'Villa Adulruna' where the band lived together while recording." More...

Back in the eighties, many old school metalheads got their first dose of Brazilian music when those first two classic Sepultura albums came out, along with releases from Overdose and Vulcano. Over in Brazil, though, those bands were a small handful of many in an already vibrant scene. Tape traders started getting wind of this scene and began looking towards other Brazilian bands, which led to great interest in two albums on Roadrunner from another classic act by the name of Ratos de Porao. "Brasil" and the crossover milestone "Anarkophobia" on Roadrunner made us dig a little deeper into the thrashcore scene of this country.
Crossover and extreme metal have thirty years strong down in the tropic of capricorn. RDP and fellow countrymen Lobotomia could hold their own against any stateside crossover band. And when you dig into Brazil's punk/metal history, it is overwhelming to see that their scene - which dates back to the days of Venom, Discharge and the Sex Pistols - continues to be huge and fractured into several subgenres just like our own. A few years before Ratos de Porao came on the scene, Restos de Nada were possibly the first recognized punk band. As can be expected, they hailed from the southeastern region of Sao Paolo - whose urban setting gave rise to their songs of social decay. More...
