Anglo-Chilean thrash metal act Criminal has posted the following statement online in regards to the departure of guitarist and founding member Rodrigo Contreras. Criminal vocalist Anton Reisenegger commented by saying:
"As some of you may be aware, Rod decided to go back to Chile a few months ago, leaving the future of the band uncertain. After much deliberation, we have now decided to replace him in order to be able to carry on as a band.
"This is not something we wanted to happen, but we have to be realistic, and being thousands of kilometers apart wouldn't have allowed us to work as a functioning band. This is not a studio project, our music is meant to be played live, and we have many plans for the future which require the four of us to be geographically close.
"Rod and I started this band almost 20 years ago and he wrote some of the band's best and most characteristic material, which made this situation extremely difficult for me personally. I feel, however, that we've done the right thing, as everything was talked through with all people involved, and Rod's departure happened in the most open, civilized terms possible.
"We hope that you, the fans, will understand this decision. It's not an easy step for us to take, and it wasn't a rushed decision, but if the only other choice is to stop playing as Criminal, we'd rather take the flak and soldier on.
"We may still play a few shows with Rod in South America next year when we celebrate our 20th anniversary, but nothing is set in stone yet.
"Rod's replacement is Olmo Cascallar from the Basque band Gamora, who already did a fantastic job as a stand-in on our last few European dates. Not only is he an excellent guitarist with a great stage presence, we also feel he will contribute an entirely new approach to our songwriting."
Sweden's Crucified Barbara has issued the following announcement about working on a new album:

New York's Amalgama has issued the following interesting take on why we celebrate Thanksgiving:
"As an American band we wanted to mark the celebration of Thanksgiving here in the United States with a little bit of sincerity and reverence as we reflect on the history of this holiday. For those who don't know, Thanksgiving is the holiday where we celebrate the victory of the pilgrims and Native Americans over the Terminator army that had moved in to crush the Plymouth Rock settlement back in the 1700's following the Civil War (when Americans fought the American-built Model-T Fords). An epic battle was waged between both sides, but in the end thankfully the settlers and Native Americans were able to fly their X-Wing fighters into the death star like battle-station in the sky and blow up the Terminator control system which allowed the Ewoks to strike the final blow from the jungles with Chewbacca.
"From that point on, we all decided to make a conscious effort to tamp down the development of technology – hence why the internet took so long to be developed world-wide. So every year we gather together and celebrate the alliance of our wise ancestors who had the forethought to protect us from the evils of technology and the internet. It's almost ironic that we now go out the following day and purchase as much high-end technology as we can. The irony.
"Hopefully all of you had a chance to sit down with your family or friends around the dinner table and consume copious amounts of turkey, shared a few laughs, a few drinks and discussed the latest techniques being employed to seek out the robot menace and destroy it before it becomes too strong once again. Ever vigilant, Amalgama."

"As we are all gearing up for the release of our new album I have news which might come as a surprise: Robert [Westerholt, Within Temptation guitarist] and I are expecting a child. To be honest, this was not planned at all, but we're very happy about it as we experience our kids as an enrichment of our lives.
"I'm happy to tell you that the release of our new album will not change: March 2011! The recordings for the album are completed and the songs are being mixed right now, all preparations for the release are in full swing, so there is no reason to put things on hold.
"However, we couldn't avoid rescheduling our tour as it will be impossible for me to deliver a great show for you while being in the final months of my pregnancy. Also due to the complications during the previous pregnancies, it is dangerous for our baby and for me to be very active in these final months.
"The tour dates have already been rescheduled to the fall of 2011. The tickets you have bought will remain valid for the new dates.
"We understand that the rescheduling of our tour is a blow for you and we can only sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as we very much appreciate the fact that so many of you have bought tickets for the shows early on.
"We hope for your understanding and support and we'll do everything to make the upcoming tour the best you've ever seen from us yet!" More...

"It is with great regret that we have to inform all of our fans and promoters that we will not be able to play the shows that we had scheduled for this weekend and the second week of December due to the unexpected bomb that was dropped on our laps a couple days ago by our hired-gun lead guitarist. He withheld this information from us until the last day on the CANNIBAL CORPSE tour, that he told us at the last minute he had a job opportunity that he had to start soon and he wouldn't be able to do the remaining headlining dates for this weekend and for the second week of December.
"Again, we apologize to our fans and the promoters! We hope to reschedule these dates if possible in the near future.
"On a positivie note! We would like thank everyone in Cannibal Corpse for taking us out, on what was one of the best tours we 've ever done! Thanks to everyone for their support!"
