Guitarist Marcel Coenen has offered up the following information about their new album:
"The band first entered the studio for the third CD in March 2009. We are aiming for a summer 2010 release on Lion Music. The working title for the album is called 'The Lotus Effect.' Some titles of new songs: 'Shades Of Hades,' 'Driftwood,' 'All But Gone,' 'Tip-Toe the Fault Line,' 'On Again / Off Again,' 'Lotus,' 'Seamripper & The Blanket Statement' plus some more to come!
"Expect an album with some new influences, one song has a typically salsa groove throughout the song, an other song has a real blast beat in it, plus we also recorded a really long epic song, divided into seven parts (total length about 24 minutes) which will close The Lotus Effect."
The Deftones has issued the following update about the benefit shows held for bassit Chi Cheng:
"Deftones would like to thank all of the incredible artists, sponsors, crew, supporters, fans and friends who made last Thursday and Friday an overwhelming success. The two night event commenced with special sets by POD, Far and Cypress Hill on night one. Deftones opened their Thursday night set with a brand new song 'Rocket Skates' and continued through a show that included 'Elite,' 'Be Quiet and Drive,' and 'My Own Summer.'
"Each night the band was joined by some of Deftones' and Chi's close friends for some special collaborations exclusive to the nights. Night one included Ben Kenney from Incubus on 'Street Carp,' Mike Shinoda and Tommy Lee on 'Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event,' Xzibit on 'Back to School,' Jonah and Shawn from Far on the Jawbox cover 'Savory,' and Cypress Hill joining Deftones for a full band version of Cypress' 'Rock Superstar.'
"Friday night opened with longtime Chi Cheng favorites Fungo Mungo and Will Haven. Dutch death metallers Supreme Pain have issued the following announcement about recruiting a new bassist:
"We are proud to announce our new bassplayer Alesa Sare. Tadej Cholewa could not combine his work with playing in Supreme Pain anymore. The fact that he also lives in Slovenia and that he has to travel to Netherlands for gigs was in the end to much to combine with his job. We had a good time with Tadej, he is a cool guy and a great bass player and did a good job on the Nemesis Enforcer cd. So we wish him all the best in the future.
"So we had to get a new bass player and the best choice was Alesa. She already played a few gigs as stand in for Tadej and she did a superb job. And our last gig as headliner at the Ear Terror Fest in Emden was a killer so we asked her if she wanted to be part of the Supreme Pain family of brutallity as a full member. So from now on Alesa Sare is our new bass player."
Municipal Waste are currently out on the road on the “Waste the World" tour and they performed on Thursday, November 19th at the Key Club in Los Angeles, CA. The Key Club is the home of the band Steel Panther, and they have a rig that allows the bass player to fly over the crowd. Bassist Land Phil had known about this and he wanted to take to the skies. Here is what Phil had to say about the experience:
"We had seen a band called Steel Panther at the Key Club do this stunt before and since they play there every Monday I figured that they had the rig set up all the time. When we arrived at the venue I was right! After asking the stage manager if it was ok we began rehearsing the spot, I think I went up in the air about 3 times before the doors opened. When the show started I was looking at the set list counting down the songs getting more and more nervous about it, When I was hanging over the audience ( probably about 20 ft. in the air ) I remember thinking These WASTE fans are really getting their money’s worth eh? Ha ha! When I landed Dave clicked in sadistic magician and the rest was history!”

Tix are flying out the door, so stock up asap! You can go here, or maybe here.
"What's going down? There will be a bunch of cool give aways, including the rare, out of print CDEP 'In Coveting Ways' to the first 100 through the door! The entire show will be filmed by for a potential DVD release.
"What will we play? I know it sounds pretentious, but see this as 'An evening with Burst':
- two sets, the first being latest album Lazarus Bird, from start to finish, which means that we will be playing songs like Momentum and City Cloaked, which we never played live before.
-After a break, we'll play the second set, comprised of fan favorites as well as songs we rarely or never played live. It will be an unashamedly awesome mix of old, new-ish and new Burst memories! More...

According to an article posted Nov. 25 on Blabbermouth.net, Ronnie James Dio's wife and manager, Wendy Dio issued a statement that said that the legendary Rainbow and Black Sabbath frontman had been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. Here's her full statement:

"Long Live Rock and Roll, Long Live Ronnie James Dio"
Dio was forced to cancel his European tour last week when he became ill and was hospitalized.
Dio, who rose to fame as the lead singer of Rainbow in the 1970s, is best known for replacing Ozzy Osbourne as the singer for Black Sabbath, and for his work in the 1980s in his own band, Dio.

Danish modern metallers Mnemic are currently the streaming the song "Diesel Uterus," off their upcoming album "Sons Of The System," through Metal Hammer.
Mainman Mircea Gabriel Eftemie commentend: "'Diesel Uterus' is probably one of the heaviest songs in terms of tuning. We still maintained the brutality but mixed it with some really beautiful melodies that can be heard in the chorus. The vocals had lot of room to unfold as heard in the chorus and throughout the song. It is mid-tempo pretty much all the way, and the middle part - or c-section if you will - becomes rather progressive and more melodic than the chorus.
"The lyrics are about the way technology has changed our way of living. Everybody is dependent on digital devices, mobile phones, computers and especially the internet. If we have Google Earth, what does the military have? Are we safe at all? And is abundance of information a good thing? Definitely good, if you know how to avoid the bad things. The main point is that we should adapt to technology in a correct and balanced way. In reality, we do waste a lot of time. An aspect of the internet is that we end up watching the world most of the day through a screen. It is definitely a heavy topic that requires debate and a heavy song!"
The album is set to be released on January 15, 2010 (Europe) and January 26, 2010 (North America).
French metallers Nightmare have issued the following statement about canceling their previously announced show alongside U.D.O:

Last week, MetalSucks' Axl Rosenberg commented on Lacuna Coil singer Cristina Scabbia's fully-clothed PETA ad.
Cristina Scabbia posted the following response on her Facebook page:
"AWESOME! Someone criticized the new Peta add with me... just cause I'm wearing TOO MANY clothes ON in it!!!! I feel absolutely comfortable with my sexuality and body, but for a serious topic do I really need to show my skin 'just cause'? I don't think so. I created a new trendy, though: usually people throw shit and criticize about the opposite! Anyway, the Peta's add is about something and someone who's NOT me."
Axl then replied:
"If read this site – and it would seem that you do – then you are aware that we actually have the utmost respect for you and your band. I am sorry that your God-given beauty has continued to call attention to itself. I’d suggest you go the Slipknot route to hide your face and keep the attention on your music, but I don’t want some of your less intelligent fans to worry that masks can be sexually transmitted.
"Anyways, to help you cope with this incredible burden, I suggest you familiarize yourself with this. If you need anything else, you know how to reach me."

"The region free DVDs and CDs include songs from all three shows recorded on June 4th, 6th, and 7th. Each show had a unique set list, totaling 34 different songs... they're all there on the two DVD set along with interviews with us.
"Other versions that will be available include one DVD (18 tracks), Blu-ray version of that DVD, a digi-pack with the DVD and two CDs, and finally the aforementioned deluxe version in a slip case with two DVDs and two CD'. More...
