They will also be releasing a definitive anthology album, which will span the band's entire career.
Speaking on the signing, frontman Lips commented: "I must say that this is by far the best Anvil ever. There will be a few new surprises including Glenn 5's first lead vocals in Anvil's history. The production that Bob Marlette has done far surpasses anything we've done in the past. The excitement within the band is over the top and we can't wait to unleash this amazing cd to the fans."
Drummer Rob Reiner adds: "The new album is pure Anvil with a new fresh kick, very exciting. Looking to rocking with The End, putting the music where it belongs - in everybody's ears and face!"
Axl Rose, the lead vocalist and sole original member of hard rock legends Guns N Roses, has filed a $20 million dollar lawsuit against video games developer Activision due to what he believes is a breach of contract. The singer claims that the use of the classic Guns N Roses song, "Welcome To The Jungle" violated a deal which meant that the company would not feature former GNR guitarist, Slash or his band Velvet Revolver.
The complaint states: "[Activision] began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR prominently in GH III, but also promote the game by emphasizing and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N' Roses and the band's song 'Welcome To The Jungle.'"

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Australian metal band The Red Shore's manager Roman Koester shares a story from their recent tour in the States:
So we were on the 'No Mercy Tour' in the U.S in September 2010. We got to Pennsylvania, the show was at The Smiling Moose. We were staying with this girl who kindly put us up. She seemed into it and was up the front the whole show. The room was small, but completely packed. After a few encouraging words from our vocalist Chase, fights began to break out. Within a few seconds the entire place was brawling, about 6 individual fights, noses breaking, blood everywhere! The next thing I see is this guy running at the girl whose place we were staying at. At this point she was still facing the stage, intent on focusing on the music. Just as she decided to turn around, this big guy unleashes a haymaker straight into her face. We were certain she was going to drop, but to our surprise she stood her ground and smashed the dude right back in the face and dropped in, then proceeding to kick him in the face while he was down... America's rough!
The Red Shore just recently wrapped up some dates on Despided Icon's farewell tour in Australia after releasing their latest album, "The Avarice of Man" in September. You can check out some of their music here.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.
Here we are already at episode 6 with no way of getting this time back. This week Bret is still on the road while his family is home. His girls are preparing for their first day of school and Bret is bummed he can’t be part of this. This is of course because Bret’s priorities are: 1. Rock n’ Roll 2. Family 3. Bandanas. More...

Tesseract has come off a month long tour across the U.S. in support of the "Concealing Fate" EP alongside Devin Townsend. The band is also set to release its debut full-length album in early 2011. Tesseract has checked in with the following update:
"So, we've just returned from what was possibly the most incredible first tour of the US and Canada that any band could ever have hoped for. We've seen many wonders like the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls and experienced trials and tribulations like a two day drive and a GPS that said 'in 704 miles, turn left.' We ate more food than any one man should ever be able to eat at breakfast, every...single...day. It's a shame, but for the rest of the world, North America has a lot of stereotypes, most of them negative. However, within the first 24 hours, most of these were dispelled and all of us fell in love with the place. The people, the crowds and the country were wonderful and in many cases simply epic. You can see a portion of the silliness in this album of photos taken by Kristell Gathoye who was on the road with us here.
"We feel we must thank Devin Townsend and the wonderful band of musicians collectively known as The Devin Townsend Project for their kindness, hospitality and genuine humility. Along with DTP, we have made so many good friends and are looking forward to meeting them all again and catching up in person when we tour 'over the pond' once again. Speaking of which, we're just confirming a mammoth 6 week US and Canadian tour to coincide with the release of our debut album next year, more information will be released on this soon. More...

Canada’s Electro Quarterstaff has completed work on the band's new album, entitled "Aykroyd." Guitarist Drew Johnston offers his comments:
"It may take us three years to write a record, but better late than never, right? Our Aykroyd album is a 40 minute extract of musical punchlines that have been cracking us up in our jam space for the last three years as a supercharged quintet since the addition of our bassosaurus, Marty Thiessen. A guru of jazz funk hipcheck beatdowns, Marty furnishes the band with a luxurious layer of global warming which allows the trinity of rusty corkscrewed guitars to explore serpent coiled passageways and renegade escape routes through the dark halls of bittersweet harmony and dissonance.
"The greatest difference between Aykroyd and Gretzky is the emphasis we've placed on blackened comedy in the attitude of our music. Strategic blast beat proton bombardment punctuates chipmunk cheeks full of hangnail shaped riffs which spontaneously arrange themselves into cosmic pentagrams of circus peanuts upon deployment. In other words, big laughs and bad vibes all around. Usually I'm sick of my own records by the time they're mixed and mastered, but Aykroyd still eats off the floor and lifts up my skirt like a deprived predator out on parole. The harmonies are still thick and tangled like peanut butter in shag carpet, and the delivery is dolphin meat in shark's teeth. Party's over." More...

Metalunderground.com is proud to present the premiere of ILL NIÑO's latest music video for “Against The Wall,” the first video from their new album “Dead New World,” which was released on October 25th via Victory Records. The music video was directed by Scott Hansen, who has worked with bands such as A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Otep, Alesana, and Evergreen Terrace, and was shot in Virginia Beach, VA in October.
“The video was shot in the evening so there was a large amount of bugs. It was like Spider-fest,” jokes drummer Dave Chavarri. “Bugs aside, Scott made sure everything worked smoothly. He’s a total professional, and it was great to see him take control of the shoot. We haven’t had someone work with us like that for a couple of years.”
“We did something like a 20 hour shoot in the swamps,” adds vocalist Cristian Machado. “Scott is a really driven individual. He knew exactly what he wanted, where he wanted people in the video, the camera angles he wanted to end up with, everything. He and his crew were extremely professional.”
“The reason we’re performing in the woods where there are no material things, is because we wanted to represent things that aren’t of the material world,” continues Machado. “The reason the couple is indoors during the video and going through their relationship battle is because they are being pressured by things in the material world. To me, the female character went into the water because she wanted to get away from all of the material things affecting her and their relationship. No matter how material we all are in this world, we all die alone.”
Check out the "Against The Wall" music video below:
ILL NIÑO is expected to announce a brand new January tour very soon. This will be the first time the band is touring in the states in two years. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming tour.

Guitarist Justin Lowe also stated: "Hey guys, it's been a long time coming and we are proud to say that our new full-length album, In Dreams, hits stores everywhere today. I must admit, this has been quite the experience for us. There were some ups and also some downs, but we have worked with each other to overcome everything that was holding us back ultimately emerging as a much stronger group. With that being said, we are absolutely pleased to deliver this recording to you. We worked extremely hard to ensure you are getting the absolute strongest After the Burial album yet.
"We're also really looking forward to get back on the road to support this new album throughout North America. The relentless touring schedule for the remainder of the year and 2011 kicks off as part of the 'December Decimation' tour with Winds of Plague, Carnifex, War of Ages and Upon A Burning Body on Nov. 26th. There will definitely be some new songs in the setlist, so be sure to go out and grab a copy and get ready! Thank you guys for all of the support, we couldn't do any of this without you."

GWAR is no stranger to New Orleans, they make it here about once a year. Unfortunately one of the opening bands Infenaeon could not make it to this show. They’ve had extremely bad transportation issues throughout this trek across the states and had to miss our town. But I wish them well in the future. Although it wasn’t packed gut-to-butt as usual, there was a great turn-out, and all of the crazy crowd surfers were there. More...
Devildriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer has issued the following update in regards to the band's future plans as well as the release of its forthcoming studio album:
"I know I say this a lot but this tour has been one of the most fun I have ever done. The UK portion of this tour ended up being some of the biggest DevilDriver headlining shows to date and I would like to thank everybody that made it out. You made us feel very welcome in your country and I can't thank you all enough.
I happy to announce that the new DevilDiver record is DONE!!!. Boecklin spent a night at Andy Sneap's house last week finalizing the mix after out show in Nottingham. It's heavy, it's brutal, it's called Beast and I know all of you are going to love it.
Speaking of Nottingham, I am proud relieved to say that no one in the band or crew got drugged this time around when we went out for drinks after the show. The first time we were in Nottingham in 2005, some of the guys in THE AGONY SCENE and our crew went to a bar and we found one of our guys passed out, face down in the bathroom. The following time we played Nottingham with GOD FORBID I turned out to be one of the unlucky victims along side our merch guy Frank. Nothing bad happened other than an awkward phone call back home, but after 2 beers everything went black and I don't remember a damn thing. Luckily, Doc from God Forbid was with us and made sure we got back to the bus in one piece. He told us that we were not acting drunk but very strange on the way back to the bus. My guess is, people find tourists, drug them, wait for them to get a little silly and mug them as they are leaving the bar. I could be wrong about that scenario, but it sure seems like a waste of drugs to spike someones drink just for fun. Since that day, I watch my drinks and the bar tender very carefully."

American metalcore act Haste The Day has announced its decision to disband. The group has posted the following statement:
"This is a very difficult announcement to make, but Haste The Day will be doing its final tour February – March 2011. It has been an incredible 10 years and we want to thank all of our amazing fans who have stuck with us through all of our changes and growth as a band. If it weren’t for all of you, this band would have been nothing.
"There are many reasons why HTD is ending, however we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our lives. I remember when this band started a decade ago, we wanted to be like the Solid State/Tooth and Nail Records bands we grew up idolizing.
"We wanted to use our passion for heavy music and the love that God put in us to be a light in the underground scene; letting people know they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man. I never imagined that we would be able to put out five full length albums, tour the world, and develop so many meaningful relationships with the people who came to our shows. Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.
"The 12 Days of Christmas will be in cities that we will not hit on our final tour so please come out to say goodbye this December. For our final tour, which will also be amazing, we are bringing our friends in My Children My Bride, The Chariot, and A Plea for Purging along for our Farewell Tour all across the US and Canada.
"We will be playing a great selection of songs from all of our records, including all of the fan favorites, rarely played songs, and a few songs that you guys keep begging us to play live. I have no doubt that this will be the best tour we’ve ever done and we cannot wait to see all of you and give you a hug goodbye.
"We love you all, thank you for everything you’ve been to us, and we can’t wait to see you for the last time in 2011! We encourage you to keep your inner flame burning and show it off to the rest of the world!
"Much Love to you all,
Mike & Haste the Day"
