Scour Releases "Propaganda" Music Video

Extreme metal practitioners Scour today unleash new single "Propaganda." The vicious track comes by way of the band’s anticipated release "The Black EP," set to come out on Black Friday, November 27th.

Anselmo comments: "We’ve all been inundated with propaganda over our entire lifetimes. The modern day is no different, and this song drives the point home. If I were to take a song like ‘5 Minutes Alone’ and cut it with clips of Steve Martin and Cheech & Chong, it would make about as much sense as the Scour 'Propaganda' video. A couple all time favourites, Boris Karloff and Vincent Price, can be seen in clips from some of some notable horror films."

Adds Engemann, "Our second offering from The Black EP, ‘Propaganda’ delivers an unapologetic beating of the senses." More...

Transatlanic Posts New Music Video Online

Transatlantic - the prog supergroup of Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt & Pete Trewavas – are pleased to announce their fifth studio album "The Absolute Universe," set for release on the 5th February 2021. Representing the band’s first new music since 2014’s "Kaleidoscope," with "The Absolute Universe" the band have done something unique and created two versions of the record: "The Absolute Universe: The Breath Of Life (Abridged Version)" & "The Absolute Universe: Forevermore (Extended Version)."

Today they have launched the video for "Overture / Reaching For The Sky," taken from "The Absolute Universe: The Breath Of Life (Abridged Version)"

Mike Portnoy comments: “’Reaching For The Sky’ is the first single off Transatlantic’s latest Magnum opus ‘The Absolute Universe’. It’s a great introduction to this epic album as it sets the tone in traditional TA style: proceeded on the album by an extended Instrumental Overture and then launching into this upbeat first song.

"I love that it features one of my favorite qualities of the band in the sharing of the lead vocals...in this case: Neal singing lead on Verse 1, myself singing lead on Verse 2, Pete & Neal sharing the Chorus with myself and Roine on backups and Neal taking the glorious Bridge...all leading to Roine’s distinctive guitar solo.

"Also interesting is that this version exclusively appears on the Abridged 1CD Version of TA5 (“The Breath Of Life”) while the Extended 2CD Version of TA5 (“Forevermore”) opens with the alternate version ‘Heart Like A Whirlwind’ which has different lead vocals and lyrics ." More...

Altareth Signs With Magnetic Eye Records

Altareth have penned a deal with Magnetic Eye Records, becoming the label's first signing of 2020 (but not its last). The heavily buzzing doom-mongers from Gothenburg, Sweden will release their debut album on the label in 2021.

Altareth comment: "For doom fanatics such as ourselves, it's a monumental victory to be supported by Magnetic Eye Records," says vocalist Paddy Strömberg. "We are signing up to a quality label that has been pioneering this kind of music for a long time and put out some of the best albums in the genre."

Niklas Sörum continues: "We're also very pleased to announce our upcoming debut full-length", reveals one of the band's two guitarists. "It will come with 7 new songs that take our brand of Swedish doom to the next level!"

Label Director Jadd Shickler bids the Swedes welcome: "With our first official signing of this strange and chaotic year, we're stoked to present a band who embodies the evolutionary synergy of Domkraft's towering, apocalyptic tones and Elephant Tree's warm, infectiously singable harmonies. We knew from the moment we first heard Altareth that their future-looking take on epic, fuzzy doom belonged on Magnetic Eye, and we can't wait to bring forth their official debut album next year."

My Dying Bride Shares New Music Video

Today, the kindred of Yorkshire raise the curtains: Their new MLP "Macabre Cabaret", following the band's highly acclaimed album "The Ghost Of Orion" (March 6th) is out today!

Singer Aaron Stainthorpe states:
"The latest offering from Yorkshire's finest merchants of misery features new music composed in the style the band have made their own over three decades which continues their relevance within the scene today. Macabre Cabaret is as menacing and brooding as it is beautiful and melancholic with crushing guitar riffs sailing side by side with emotive piano pieces and vocals to suit all flavours. The stunning artwork captures the image of the band perfectly offering a visual interpretation of the aural devastation that is My Dying Bride."

To celebrate the news, the band unveils a video for the titletrack today, which can be viewed below, as long with a new interview Aaron Stainthorpe did with Metal Underground.

Aaron Stainthorpe adds:
"The new video from My Dying Bride offers a visual treat for lovers of gothic menace and doom-heavy art. A narrative shot in various locations is cut with scenes of the band members doing what they do best – performing their music. A provocative story is played out to sombre overtones with a climax sitting well inside the shadows of malice as the band are dramatised in silhouette shade and smoky aplomb." More...
