"It's been a long time coming," states vocalist Tara Ortiz, "The song was written in late 2009 and performed live several times by the band. However, it wasn't until Tara and drummer, Steve, decided to team up as the sole writers of Luminis's music, that the final song came to fruition. Into My Sin was mixed this week and released to the public by way of their official website, MySpace, Facebook, and Reverbnation, last night."
"We hope that this will give our fans an idea of what our original music will encompass. And we have several other tracks in the works with the intention of releasing a full length CD sometime next year."
"Right now, Luminis is just Tara and Steve, writing and recording for their album. Live musicians will be hired when it comes time to play live. We're planning our first show back to be sometime in February, at the Wicked Faire in Somerset NJ."
Blackguard has issued the following update regarding their upcoming album:
“This is going to be our most dynamic release to date. We’re going to have a few slower songs on this album; more head banging tunes. We’re also going to be introducing some new elements to our song to mix things up a bit. Not to sound too cliché but we definitely don’t want to write the same record over and over again and this record is going to be a great step forward for us.”
The band also comments on their upcoming tour dates with Symphony X, "It is a dream tour. Our band has spent the better part of the last 2 years on tour to get to this point. We very much look forward to seeing old friends, making new friends and being a part of what will be the supreme springtime event. "This year being the first of the future, twenty-ten, it marks the starting point of a whole new century of sonic learning that we can't even begin to imagine. Twenty-eleven has been foretold to perhaps even melt the faces of those who aren't listening to the learning. The first of these twelve or seventy-three different events to mark the future will fall upon the sixth day of twenty-eleven at eight of the clock, when the bare moon is halved and then thrice cloven, thus appearing to be full.
"For those who would stand proud and open their ears to this gift, it is said it may be witnessed on the continent of Europa during the season of the Pentagram, when the Judas Priestess battles the mighty Bezoar they pilot an oaken Hull through Hell... Citizens! Come! Look into the bright light of the future and hear the words of the universe! More...
MetalSucks.net recently spoke with Pentagram front man Bobby Liebling, who shared some news about the band's forthcoming album. Excerpts from the interview follow.
MS: You’re off to record the Last Rites album soon, I believe?
Bobby: I leave Wednesday morning and we start recording the album this coming Sunday night [November 21].
MS: I’m sure you’re pretty excited about it. Can you tell me a bit about the new record?
Bobby: Actually, the songs on Last Ritesare predominantly, I’d say two-thirds [of them are] songs I wrote in 1970, and if you’re familiar with any Pentagram stuff at all… you know each album is usually a sixty-forty split. Sixty percent is stuff that I did in the early ‘70s, and forty percent is collaborations and new stuff. The upcoming album is slated to have thirteen songs, but we don’t know if we’re going to be able to record all of them. We’re going to try to get it all in. It’s going to be a shorter album, but it’ll be part of a double-disc set with an hour-long live DVD from last year’s Maryland Deathfest.
MS: Is there a definite release date for it?
Bobby: No, not a definite date, but it’s scheduled to be released in early April. I was told by my superiors [laughs], as it were, that I shouldn’t talk about the record label, but I will say that we’ve got a multi-album deal and it’s with a significant, well, let’s say the largest label I’ve ever been on.More...

One of the most consistently challenging and interesting bands of our time and someone that we are truly overjoyed to welcome to the Roadburn lineup."

As I mentioned before in interviews, Heaven’s Venom is a very personal, aggressive and dark Kataklysm album that hits home. We love this album and want to share its anger with our fans! We want to play places we have never been before and also revisit our loyal supporters while creating some new fans along the way. One thing we know, is that this will be the only time you will be able to see the band on this record or for a long time. So don’t say ‘I’ll catch them the next time’ because there might not be a next time. We are thinking of taking along break after this massive trek and who knows what will happen next. Their active in the nightly hours. I do my usual routine and gets some work done during this rainy and gray morning. If you've been paying attention and have read this blog, you'll know how we love the French. This is the sixth and last of the shows in France; Lille, Paris, Toulouse, Limoges and now the ninth largest city in France. It's one of three cities in France with an opera house and its 266 000 inhabitants live almost 500km east of Paris. Yes! You guessed it.. it's Strasbourg!
"We make our way into La Laterie. The old dairy is redecorated and made a pretty decent venue. We put down our stuff on the second floor where our backstage is and proceed to the wonderful catering provided. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see this beautiful city, but Einar was kind enough to provide me with the picture here. More...

Atheist recently released their latest studio album, "Jupiter" (reviewed here), on November 8th via Season of Mist. "Jupiter" is the band's first new record since 1993. Metalunderground.com is now able to bring you the online premiere of the track "Fictitious Glide." You can check it out in the player below, along with opening track "Second To Sun."
Metalunderground.com recently caught up with Atheist frontman Kelly Shaefer, who commented on the album:
If you don’t know the history of the band and the third album comes in then it’s very odd, because it’s very different and Latin influenced. In using a different drummer it wasn’t as fast and brutal, it’s more jazzy and most people in Eastern Europe prefer that record. “Jupiter” is a continuation of our second record “Unquestionable Presence.” It’s really an homage to both the first two albums. It’s easily the most brutal and ferocious album we’ve ever done. It’s the most explosive and has the best songs and our song writing has changed a lot in all that time. Me personally, I’ve had an opportunity to write with a number of different bands and work with producers in the rock world with Neurotica. So my experience bringing that back into Atheist is structure and being able to take chaotic madness of the technical aspect of Atheist and really hone it in and give people something to focus their eyes one. It helps pull it all together. It wasn’t really intentional but it just worked out that way. We’d just sit down and write and whatever happens, happens. That’s how we set our template. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. I hate saying that, because everybody says that. If you are a fan of Atheist you are definitely going to love this record. It’s all over the place, and yet it’s right down the middle.
You can read that full interview here.
The complete tracklisting for "Jupiter" is as follows:
1. Second to Sun (4:04)
2. Fictitious Glide (4:53)
3. Fraudulent Cloth (3:24)
4. Live and Live Again (3:39)
5. Faux King Christ (4:02)
6. Tortoise the Titan (3:40)
7. When the Beast (4:57)
8. Third Person (4:08)
Ex Deo frontman Maurizio Iacono (also of Kataklysm) has posted the following statement online in regards to its forthcoming studio album, titled "Caligula."
"It’s amazing to see a vision I had one day waking up finally become a reality two years ago. We had done a few shows in America with Ensiferum for our debut album Romulus that were fantastic, but to go across the country and really seeing people waiting anxiously for this and screaming their hearts out for it live has been one incredible feeling.
I feel EX DEO is changing the game of the underground, bringing a theater to the live stage and bringing a new concept that has never done before. This is a beast of a band and we would like to thank everyone for the great support. With this said, I would like to announce that we will indeed begin pre-production on the next album Caligula – the follow up to the highly-acclaimed debut Romulus – as soon as the world tour for KATAKLYSM will end next year.
Expect a revolutionary album that will breathe the word ‘NEW’ into a much stagnant metal industry. It is yet undermined which label will release Caligula as we are looking at many different options."
