U.S. thrash metal act The Wrath Project has released the debut album “The Cure Is The Disease” earlier this month via Level 13 Records. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Mixed by Yanic Bercier at Wave Transform Studio, Knoxville, TN, and mastered by Tom Morris at the legendary Morrisound Studios in Tampa, FL, 'The Cure is the Disease' is a heaping slab of unrelenting thrash metal designed with one purpose - to ruin the necks of each and every listener that dare to take on this metal onslaught.
"A fierce new megalith in the world of metal, The Wrath Project is an international collective of talent hell bent on bringing their brand of metal to the masses. Beginning their journey in 2008, The Wrath Project has been a work towards perfection since day one, highlighted by the dual guitar attack courtesy of Mark Wolzenburg (Colour Trip) and Frank Andeas (Portugal Towers), iron-throated front man Elmar Keineke (Colour Trip), a barrage of visionary drum riffs by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis) and heralded old school bass lines committed by Chris Gospodarek, constantly melding their collective influences and talents into a precise tool of fury and intensity.
"Best described as modern thrash with a tinge of death metal, The Wrath Project carry their influences proudly, but also adhere to an original soundscape of brutality that will quickly become a trademark of the band. 'The Cure Is The Disease' is a condensed formulation of cacophonous metal that truly stands on its own, with no real comparisons needed. The arrival of the Wrath is imminent. Four tracks from the new album are currently streaming at this location." More...
Shaman Recordings is proud to announce the release of "Wood and Wire," a “self-split” between Oxford’s mighty drone/doom/sludge-bringers Undersmile and the band's acoustic alter-ego Coma Wall. That’s one side of Americana-influenced, atmospheric doom-folk and one side of Undersmile’s characteristic, monolithic heaviness. Shaman Recordings also commented:
"Following on from their debut EP A Sea of Dead Snakes, the Undertaker split (w/Caretaker) and their critically acclaimed debut album Narwhal, Wood and Wire marks the bands’ first foray onto vinyl and they have produced a record that reflects their diversity as a band and hints at what’s to come, for both incarnations.
"Having played acoustic sets at the inaugural DesertFest and in support of Dylan Carlson (Earth) COMA WALL is the name Undersmile have given to their acoustic project as a way to separate the two disparate but interlinked sides of their musical personality (highlighted by Coma Wall’s acoustic take on Undersmile’s 'Cutter’s Choice'). Their contribution to this record is a taster for a future Coma Wall record.
"Wood and Wire‘s acoustic side features production work from the band’s previous producers Jimmy 'Evil' Hetherington (A Sea of Dead Snakes, Narwhal) and Umair Chaudhry (Undertaker split) while side B is produced by Justin Greaves (of Iron Monkey, Crippled Black Phoenix, Electric Wizard, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine). Featuring three songs on either side, this is Undersmile as you’ve never heard them before.
"The incredible artwork has been created by Craig Bryant (of Bast) whose work has previously been featured on posters for the likes of Dylan Carlson, Eagle Twin, Pombagira, Lattitudes and many more.
"This slab o’wax is scheduled for release during February 2013 via Shaman Recordings and will be strictly limited to 300 copies on transparent purple vinyl with digital download card."
At A Loss Recordings has confirmed the pending release of the debut full-length from Columbia, South Carolina-based experimental outfit Burnt Books. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Comprised of a collective of scene veterans having spent time in previous area acts including Thank God, Guyana Punchline, .fuckingcom, and Tunguska, Burnt Books amalgamate their influences into a unique brew of angst-ridden, off-kilter punk mayhem. Amidst solid bursts of regional stateside touring since their mid-2011 inception, the band released their initial four-song demo early last year.
"Burnt Books hit the studio in mid-2012, shacking up with Phillip Cope (Kylesa, Baroness, Dark Castle) to lay down the tracks which would become their self-titled debut full-length, the ten anthems then mastered by Colling Jordan (YOB, Twilight). Artist Sam Ford (Black Cobra, Wizard Rifle) was commissioned to handle the striking cover art enshrouding this sonic attack. At A Loss Recordings will drop Burnt Books worldwide on January 29th, with a vinyl version to follow later in the year.
"Stay tuned for new music from the record, stints of live excursions and more on Burnt Books to be announced in the weeks ahead."

A funny thing happened on Main Street in the heart of hippie enclave Burlington, Vermont, this Tuesday past: a METAL show. Deathgrind splatter freaks Cattle Decapitation had booked a series of headlining dates after dropping off Six Feet Under's Autumn Apocalypse Tour. As happy coincidence would have it, California metallers Holy Grail had booked a night off from their ongoing tour with Hellyeah. The two bands' paths happened to cross at just the right time and place for Burlington's metal-starved fans.
Prior to the show in the intimate upstairs tavern Club Metronome, I strolled into the ground-floor establishment Nectars - fabled as the birthplace of Phish - where the five troublemakers of Holy Grail were cooling their heels. After finishing a game of pool, frontman James Paul Luna sat down with me in a booth to discuss his band's current happenings, including the highly anticipated new album "Ride The Void." More...

Poland's progressive rockers Riverside have just completed their fifth studio album, "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves," and are proud to announce the effort will see a North American release on February 5th, 2013. Out on longtime record label InsideOut Music, the album will also be available in Europe on January 21st, 2013.
"Shrine Of New Generation Slaves" was recorded at Serakos Studio in Warsaw, Poland, where Reality Dream Trilogy was also tracked. Recorded with Magda Srzednicka and Robert Srzednicki, the album offers nearly an hour of classic Riverside music.
Vocalist Mariusz explains, "In 2012 we've been focusing on the work on the new album, and trying to prove, mostly to ourselves, that we can still surprise with something, and what's most important - create an album that would become our showpiece, music-wise and lyrics-wise. The title might sound a bit intricate, but the acronym will definitely explain what we did with our music this time."
A video interview that was conducted with Riverside directly from the studio can be seen below. "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves" is the follow-up to the band's 2009 release, "Anno Domini High Definition," which entered the Poland charts at #1 and has since hit gold album status. In 2011, Riverside also released an EP titled "Memories In My Head" to celebrate the band's 10th anniversary. More...
Helsinki vampires The 69 Eyes recently shot a video for the single “Borderline” together with producer Patric Ullaeus over in New Orleans. The song comes off the band's most recent album, “X."
Lead singer Jyrki69 comments, “It’s like our 'Love Me Tender' – a soft, timeless ballad. But it also has that dark, mystic Southern vibe (some said 'True Blood'), so naturally we had to go to Louisiana to shoot the video! Mark Twain’s books, Elvis’ King Creole, Easy Rider, blues, jazz, voodoo, vampires - so many reasons for THE 69 EYES go to N’awlins. We’ve played there twice, I’ve also hosted two DJ club nights there called Fangtasia over the last two summers. The leading rock/metal video director of these latter days, Swedish Patric Ullaeus was also interested in coming to NOLA to make this masterpiece, so all was set for it! The mid-October was perfect for a long-lost weekend in the South."

Virginia based melodic tech-death metal masters Arsis are pleased to officially announce Brandon Ellis as their new guitarist. Brandon has toured with the band in the past but will finally make his recording debut with Arsis’ upcoming full-length release. Brandon replaces guitarist Nick Cordle who was recently tapped to replace Christopher Amott in Sweden's Arch Enemy.
“I am super happy to say that Brandon Ellis has recently become the new lead guitarist for Arsis,” commented vocalist/guitarist Jim Malone. “Not only is he one of the best musicians that I have been able to work with, but he shares my passion for all things that are 80's metal, including ridiculously tacky paint jobs on guitars. I am beyond excited about writing new material with Brandon. Until then, listen for his shredilicious leads on the upcoming Arsis full length. Come check him out live with Arsis this December!”
"Initially when Nick joined Arch Enemy, we all thought we could make it work with him having the time for both bands,” continued bassist Noah Martin. “Things unfortunately overlapped and we weren't able to work on the new album with him. We appreciate everything he's done for Arsis. We'll miss our friend greatly and do wish him all the best. Both Nick and Ryan Knight (The Black Dahlia Murder), contributed ridiculous leads for the album. More...
