We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. With all of the stories of mosh pit brutality of late, you might expect more of the same from the title, but in fact, this story from California death metal band Gravehill is not what it would appear:
This one goes back to October 31st in Dekalb, Illinois. Gravehill had flown out to Illinois to do 3 shows with our brothers in Cardiac Arrest. We had arrived late late late the night/morning before this Halloween show in Dekalb. Once the sun went down and the pabst blue ribbon started disappearing at an alarming rate, we left Aurora (where we were staying) and started our short treck over to Dekalb. When we got there, we were informed that the gig was at a rehearsal space that some local bands practiced at. "No biggie," we thought. Sometimes, those types of shows totally go off and go crazy. But once the night wore on, we became a little bummed. The first bands started playing and people were barely showing up. It was dead and the bands we really not very good. There was a mix of indie rock, bad metal and even some sort of techno/hip hop type dj guy. So we just preceeded to get drunk and make the best of it as we always do.More...

Cradle of Filth front man Dani Filth has issued the following blog about the band's current and upcoming activity:
"Dear readers, belated happy Hallowe'en! Well, has the endless wait been worth it? The album has been out a fortnight in Europe and a week in the US and has garnered all kinds of remarkable press, from the utterly brilliant to the shit and insane. I love it. The circus starts again. At least on the front of it it seems that again we have divided peoples opinions. Love/hate, loathe/adore, suckle/chastise us; it's all so deliciously Catholic.
"Firstly let me apologize for the slight delay people have had to endure for the limited edition box-set, I know it's not cool, but the production was held up by all kinds of issues, so all I can do is to offer you my sincerest regret. And a test tube full of my love juice.
"Also, the limited edition T-shirt does what it says on the tin, it is solely limited to the special edition box-set. Our merchandising company AMP mistakenly put it on our site for sale last week, but have since, on our request, taken it down and fed it to bone-crushing lobsters. Well, what the Devil has been happening in the Cradle camp of late? What tall stories have I to tell? More...

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our fans and look forward to returning to health and touring in 2011."

Norway's Leprous has posted a new tour blog from Madrid. Excerpts from the blog post follow:
"I haven’t been able to wash any laundry since Lille, and now I’m really starting to run out of clothes. Ten concerts without access to a washing machine has also taken its toll on my stage outfit, so today I was determined to find a Laundromat or Lavateria or whatever its called here in Spain. I gathered my Posse (Einar/Tobias), and off we went on our quest. Our first stop was at Lori’s, to borrow some laundry detergent. She supplied us with what we needed, asked around in Spanish to find out where we could go, jogged over herself to check if it was open, returned and told us it was closed, and then added that their (Therion’s) sound check were moved earlier so we wouldn’t have time to wash anything anyway. Cool... Guess the quest will have to be postponed.
"The upside of not being able to do my laundry was that I now had time to take a stroll downtown in Madrid. On our way we were lucky enough to be heading in the opposite direction of a demonstration, featuring both Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.
"To my surprise they don’t seem to sell clothes in downtown Madrid, so my quest for clean clothes continues. On our way back to the venue, the demonstration had decided to turn around, so once again we had to walk through it in the opposite direction. More...
Obsccura has recently completed work on the band's new album "Omnivium" and has revealed its track listing as: “Septuagint," “Vortex Omnivium," “Ocean Gateways," “Euclidean Elements," “Prismal Dawn," “Celestial Spheres," “Velocity," “A Transcendental Serenade," and “Aevum." The album was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura and is expected to see a March 2011 release date. Additional album details will be announced shortly.
Obscura drummer Hannes Grossman commented on recording the album: "The recording process was intense and time-consuming, but it brought us many steps forward as musicians both individually and collectively. The songs are still catchy, but there are more epic parts involved, as well as faster and more melodic songs. The extremes of the band's sound extend on all sides, so to say. Expect some things which have never been done before like this in Death Metal!"

Guitarist and band leader Rune Eriksen made the following statement about "Onyx:"
"The Tree of Life has got to be learnt by heart; you must know it backwards, forwards, sideways, and upside down; it must become the automatic background of all your thinking. You must keep on hanging everything that comes your way upon its proper bough."
"....and so became ONYX."
"These words of wisdom I borrowed for a moment just to emphazise the importance of evolving to become who you essentially are. How necessary and rewarding it is to breathe the air of experience, to gratefully accept the opportunities granted and to feed on lifes treasures and dreams. For it is through our life experiences and the knowledge attained we are able to develop and define our music and musicality. This I feel strongly about." More...
New York power metal band Gothic Knights has issued the following update on their upcoming new album, "Reflections From the Other Side:"
"The mixing of the next CD titled 'Reflections from the Other Side' is almost complete! We expect it to be finished by mid December! It will feature 10 songs, and from beginning to end the CD will feature the darker and heavier side of Gothic Knights. For those who know our music, this next CD has songs that are comparable in heaviness to some of our past work such as Sleepy Hollow, Vampyre, Nightmare of the Witch, Bridgekeeper, e.t.c. So for fans that appreciate the US power metal sound, they are gonna really dig this one.
"Rick Warlock Sanchez takes his voice to new soaring highs and brutal lows...from clean haunting vocals to brutal Halford like screaming/singing. With the addition of guitarist, Dave the 3rd, we will be presenting the band's first dual lead shredding solos. This CD also features keys wizard Jared Sloan, who laid down keys that would have King Diamond smiling. We, the band know that this is our finest work yet, and can't wait to share it with our friends and fans!"

"We strongly believe in the support of Season of Mist and in the opportunity to work with a record company managed by passionate people. Our goal is clearly to give all the best chance possible to our music and signing with Season of Mist is probably the best start we could dream of."

"Also, I can not stress this enough- Severed is not breaking up. We have several new songs in the works, one of which we will be debuting at the No Mercy Metal Showcase Dec 1 at Blender Theater. The show was originally planned for the 2nd, but it has been moved. This is Severed’s last show of the year, and one of our biggest ever.
