"It is a tremendous honor for us to be inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Having grown up on LI and having lived here for most of my life, it has a very special meaning to me. The roots of DT stem all the way back to my home town of King Park where John Myung and I spent countless hours writing and playing music together.
"Being part of a band with a 25 year history who went from playing the local Long Island clubs to headlining at the iconic Jones Beach Theater has been an amazing experience and the induction on Tuesday night is a great testament to that journey."

While Heaven Wept is officially leaving the Cruz Del Sur Music roster and has signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Enrico Leccese of Cruz Del Sur Music issued the following statement:
"I started working with Tom Phillips on the release of what was going to be Vast Oceans Lachrymose in June 2006. Almost three and a half years later, the release of VOL hit the market provoking an amazing reaction from the people who already loved WHW, but also conquering thousands of new fans. From then on, it was an exciting ride which has seen the CD re-release of their long out-of-print previous albums, a series of glorious live shows and the peak represented by the forthcoming release of their first live album Triumph: Tragedy: Transcendence available in a CD/DVD limited edition and on vinyl on Cruz del Sur Music. It was inevitable that WHW would catch the interest of bigger labels and I am not angry or disillusioned at all. I mainly see their going to a respectable and leading label as Nuclear Blast as a honor and a recognition of our work."
Jaap Wagemaker of Nuclear Blast commented: "Nuclear Blast is extremely elated to announce the signing of While Heaven Wept! Last year we were totally blown away by the release of the album Vast Oceans Lachrymose (out on Cruz del Sur Music) from the US genre-defining and genre-defying metal band While Heaven Wept! After months of talking with mastermind Tom Philips we are very happy to announce that WHW has joined the Nuclear Family!! While Heaven Wept are already in the studio recording their follow up album Fear of Infinity which will be out April 2011."
While Heaven Wept's Tom Phillips also stated: "It made perfect sense for us to align with Nuclear Blast, who also have been committed to offering only the very best in the world of Heavy Metal. Through this partnership, we will surely be able to continue delivering the best productions possible while presenting our musical vision in a different arena, betraying neither our past nor our ideals. Nuclear Blast's support of our musical identity is truly an honor, and everyone who has stood by us all along these years need not worry; While Heaven Wept is what it is, and cannot be anything else. Expect the unexpected. We look forward to revealing our new album Fear Of Infinity together with Nuclear Blast very soon!"

We are there now. This is perfection.

Each week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we’ll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. In the dawn of what some call “The New Wave of Asian Heavy Metal,” we have unearthed bands from countries such as South Korea, China, Sri Lanka, Singapore and India. This week, I will be showcasing metal’s biggest Asian supporters – Japan.
There is no doubt the metal scene is enormous in Japan. It is home to Tokyo’s Sigh and Chiba’s X-Japan, the latter of which pioneered the glam-rock movement known as Visual Kei and recently completed a successful first-ever North American tour. In addition, the Loud Park Festival is held in Japan every year and has featured bands such as Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, among many others. Also, there is a manga, turned anime, turned live-action movie (with a cameo by Gene Simmons) based on a fictional band named Detroit Metal City. (I highly recommend to Metalocalypse fans.)
Although there is a plethora of talented J-metal bands, I can only focus on a few this week. Here are three “ichiban” (that means "top" or "number one") bands worth checking out:
Blood Stain Child
Osaka’s Blood Stain Child formed in 2000 with vocalist Ryo, guitarist Ryu, keyboardist Aiki and drummer Violator. The Child, in its early years with the debut "Silence from Northern Hell," has been likened to melodic death metal bands Children of Bodom and In Flames; however, BSC has since matured and separated itself from the pack with its unique blend of electronica, industrial and trance, although still retaining some Gothenburg-influenced roots. The band recently recruited vocalist Sophia from Greece and drummer Gami to replace the previous members Sadew and Violator, and are expected to release a yet-to-be-titled fifth studio album in 2011.
Check out Blood Stain Child at its MySpace.
Virginia-based metal act Arsis has announced the band will be performing the 12 minute title track from "A Diamond For Disease" in its entirely during upcoming tour dates. Bocalist/guitarist Jim Malone commented:
"We have been scheming among ourselves for quite a while about this, and now it's finally going to happen. We rehearsed the full version of ‘A Diamond For Disease’ last week and it came together even better than we had hoped! It needed the right tour and the right point in the life of the band, and we would not do it at all unless it was perfect. We're finally there. So everybody who's been asking us to play the entire thing every night for years and years... you finally get your (poisonous) medicine this December!"
The upcoming "A Tour for the Sick" shows, which also include Conducting from the Grave and Powerglove, are as follows:

"I struggled a bit finding Razmatazz due to massive road work. But then I finally saw my mother and fiancee outside! And what a great feeling it was to finally meet my family and fiancee! As soon as we were able to, we took the subway to check out the city centre. James Randall, vocalist of grind metal act Agoraphobic Nosebleed has posted the following blog online, offering his opinions on the Scion Metal Festival:
"You know “big metal” is fucked when it starts accepting petty bail outs from the auto industry via Scion.
There are two possible scenarios I’m entertaining here on how this came to pass- 1: some slacker nephew of some executive at Scion needed something to do exiting rehab w/ his unused marketing degree or 2: Scion is somehow hip to the fact there are a lot of aging metal dudes pushing 40 that are possibly in the market to buy their first new/real car.
In scenario 1. we have nephew dickin’ around w/ company money making a creative tax shelter for Uncle Scion.
In scenario 2. we have one of the most retarded marketing schemes ever to get smoked up in the history of advertising.
So the other day I was on the phone w/ my buddy Wood of MITB/Bastard Noise and no sooner does he make comment about INTEGRITY having a lack of… w/ their recent Scion showcase at the ROXY, I just happen to stumbled upon Murder Constructs new EP on Relapse coming packed w/ a “SCION presents” free MAGURDERGRIND record! I was like dude what the fuck is going on here? MAGURDERGRIND! Heres a band that was to “punk” to give Relapse a record but is down to float a fuckin’ “SCION” logo on the front of their album cover? WTF?
Now I ain’t some crust monk who’s taken some gutter punk vow of poverty, running around hating on mother fuckers trying to make a little coin off their shit -but I doubt there is much money changing hands here at all. Scion hit me up awhile ago asking if I was into doing a video for some band, me being a bit of a dirty car salesman myself hit ‘em back to find out what they where looking to spend and that pretty much ended that. As costs in the advertising/marketing world go compared to sponsoring a pro athlete or getting a actor to endorse your product “extreme metal” is a fuckin’ prostitute, jerk you off, blow you in your Scion xBS for a couple bucks. But hey Scion you get what you pay for -no ding dong is running out to buy one of your hipster crap wagons because you did some metal/hardcore showcase, your just publicly outing some poor band as your whore."
