In a recent blog post, KK Downing, guitarist of iconic British heavy metal band Judas Priest, revealed that the band would once again be embarking on a world tour, which will kick off next year. No word was given regarding what the band's setlist would cover. The message reads as follows:
"It seems that the time has come for us to put the touring wheels in motion for our next world tour in 2011!
"It's funny but these days around - about this time - I can't help but reflect on the past when we had to load the touring van ourselves. Sometimes in the ice and snow, being afraid that we would get frostbites on our fingers and not be able to play the gig!
"I remember one winter we had a gig at Hull City Hall in England. We were driving in heavy snow when we hit black ice and the car hit the motorway barriers so hard that it was never able to be driven again. However, it was fortunate that a passing farmer saved the day by letting us pile into his old Land Rover and was kind enough to drive us to the gig! More...
Norway's Leprous has issued the following road report from Milan:
"Day 13/34 - Alcatraz, Milan, Italy - 09.11.2010 Today we stood up early as usual. Maybe around 12.30. Halvor of course needed his two more hours. Catering was very good. Venue was good. And that is good, after last evenings lame concert. We went to the city of Milan, which was very nice. Although I think its more suited if you are into fashion, and are willing to spend (wasting) alot of money. We went into one of these fashion store. When the personal approached us and saw our style, he just smiled and turned back. No need wasting time, he thought. The Milan Cathedral was one of the most spectacular buildings I've ever seen.
"The concert itself was much better than yesterday and the crowd were really nice to us. We had a shower in our backstage, which is really nice. Because the last couple of days we had specific rules for showering.
"Like: just between 9.30 and 10.30, so its ready for the headliners after their show. Hey!, but their show ends at 11.30? Yeah but the water needs to get heated before they finish. Sometimes there is this moron rules for support bands. Just to separate us from the headliner. But overall its good! Next stop Lyon!" More...
Canada's Adytum is currently working on a new album, which is set to see a release in 2011. In a recent interview with X-Plosive Metal, Adytum bassist Marko Vuvovic had the following to say about the new material:
At this point the music is a very tight mix of progressive/tech with catchy simple structures. The older songs where really progressive and would have over 14 different parts and some only played once which would take the listener several listens to capture everythingthat is happening. The new songs are still progressive and technical but we are shaping the songs more to have a simple verse, chorus, bridge sections. I really see this album as our version of Rush's 2112 where we are showing that we can write very progressive and technical songs while being something that could be on the radio. Its really a great blend. There are songs we've been playing and jamming out for 2-3 years and it still sounds fresh.
