Bobby. B, Soulfly bassist, checked in from the studio with an update on the new Soulfly record as well as more personal matters:
"Stoppin by for a quick second to say hello! Its been a real busy year for us and as I write this we're all finally back home in our collective home cities relaxing and packing up to head into the studio in L.A. this Friday to begin recording the new SF record! We've been playing together better than ever in recent times and we're all really excited to get to work on the new shit!!!! I've been *thinking* about doing some sort of video diary on my mac from the studio sessions to kinda keep everyone in the loop and possibly post them up like once a week on my MYSPACE page but I have yet to make up my mind.. Other than that.. Talks of more touring in the new year but Im not sure yet..
"My wife Joy and I are expecting our first baby, a son due Febuary 4th!!!!! Ryder Lee Burns is his name and Im so fucking excited / scared / nervous I can barely stand it!!!! He'll be a little rocker for sure! He's already been to 3 Primer 55 shows and 5 Soulfly shows and he's not even here yet! Needless to say I'll be taking the month of Febuary off to be at home with him and my wife.. So I hope I wont be missing any of the Soulfly tours but what can ya do..."
Vocalist Christopher Bowes of Alestorm has issued the following statement about the band's show in Orlando being canceled:
"Hey dudes, bad news.
"Due to logistical issues beyond anybody's control, the show in Orlando on the 14th had to be canceled. Major fucking bummer, cos we were all looking forward for a bit of a party Florida-style. We'll be back down that part of the world at some point, so don't worry. We're gonna spend a day or two chillin' in New Orleans instead, so if you can make it come along and we'll all get fucked up on Bourbon Street! Sorry again."
Polish death metallers Dormant Ordeal have issued the following update about parting ways with their guitarist and streaming their new demo album online:
"Over the last few months we intensively worked on new songs and ideas, yet at the same time we were improving the old ones, already checked on local stages. In the meantime, we parted ways with our guitarist, Piotr. This decision, somehow risky, eventually turned out to be pretty good move, which upgraded our level of intensive precision. Most of all, this October and November we recorded our first promotional release 'More to Come.' This material was entirely recorded and mastered by the band itself in improvised studio located in our rehearsal room. Successful mixture of imagination and determination faithfully reflects Dormant Ordeal's current condition. Please, take a moment to listen to our new release."
Hod bassist Derrick Rivers has announced his departure from the band to focus his efforts on battling cancer. Vocalist Beer Reebs shares the following information about Rivers, as well as other Hod happenings:
“Our original bassist Dirty Derrick has been battling cancer and thus far has been successful. However, he was recently informed that it had come back in his liver and possibly his lungs and will begin treatment for it again within a few weeks. He’s decided in the interest of his health, that he will be hanging up the bass to focus on taking care of himself. Although the band hates to see him go we all completely understand and support his decision to do so. His last performance with Hod will be this Saturday, November 14th, at The Goregrowler's Ball 3 in San Antonio, TX at The Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar. Taking Dirty Derek's place on the bludgeoning four strings will be Trans Am from the Austin, TX based grindcore band, Pleasant Valley. His first live performance with Hod will be Saturday December 5th at Downtown Music in Littlerock, AR with Deadbird and Vore.
“In other Hod news, I’m pleased to announce that the band is four songs into the second full length album and follow up to Serpent. It is scheduled for recording in early 2010 and set to be recorded at Raging Steel Fury Studios in Austin, TX by Ignitor/Agony Column guitarist Stuart 'Batlord' Lawrence. It is set to be mixed and mastered at Sweden's Necromorbus Studios and released by Ibex Moon Records. Finally, 2010 also has some heavy show activity coming up. We have shows lined up with bands like Gravehill, Godless Rising, Blaspherian, and legendary crossover band D.R.I., to name a few.”

Although Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler took to the stage with The Joe Perry Project recently to perform "Walk This Way" and announced he was not, contrary to rumours, leaving the band, it would appear that Aerosmith's problems are still far from over. Joe Perry has told Billboard.com that Tyler "never said he was leaving the band" but that that the singer "said he wanted two years off to do his other projects," which has created some tension and problems within the group.
"Aerosmith wants to work," says Perry, who Tweeted earlier in the week that the band was "positively looking for a new singer to work with." He adds, "the band's been playing together for 40 years. It's a really powerful rock band, and I don't want to see it just go to waste and I don't think any of the other guys do, either. We're gonna work and we're gonna do something -- I'm not exactly sure what yet, but the band's too good to let it sit around. We're not going to wait for Steven."
Perry says he's had one conference call during the past week with bandmates Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer, but they have not made any firm decisions about anything -- including working with another singer while Tyler is pursuing his outside endeavors. "We're waiting for things to kind of settle down, and then we'll figure out what we're gonna do. Anything is possible," the guitarist says.
Recent Mediaskare recording artists Hundredth issued an update on their new album and guitarist:

"We have been looking for a guitarist for the better part of 2009 and are glad to say we have finally found an awesome fit. Our long-time friend Andrew "PeeWee" Minervini has stepped up to the plate is now playing guitar for us full-time.
"We are all beyond stoked on the new addition and can't wait to see what the future holds. Thanks to everyone who emailed us about the position, I'm sorry if we didn't get around to answering all of the e-mails, but we truly appreciate your interest."

Chthonic frontman, Freddy Lim, has checked in with the following blog:
"Our flight just went thru a horrifying turbulent flow that shook the whole plane. In the cabin it's full of the cracking sound . I opened the curtain, looked out the window and all I saw is the wing flipping like the bird's. I closed the curtain right away because I know it doesn't help to see this kind of thing. Dani was worried that the wing is gonna be broken and so are the equipments on the plane, and probably a lot of passengers share his concern. I found out that none of on-seat screens on my row was working as the left side of the screen was shaking and the middle part only had noise. Some screens to my right worked but the headphone jack did not. The head pillow on my seat lost a screw so didn't work either. Nobody expected this plane to survive this turbulent flow. Jesse was writing spell on his palm and I was saying goodbye to my family and friends in my mind already... 10+ minutes later, turbulent flow was finally over and our plane was still in one piece and flying us from London to New York lol. Why didn't we just fly back to Taipei directly? Itinerary constantly changes as the tour schedule got more and more complicated. I really wished I could've flown form Scotland to Taipei directly.
So our flight ended up like this: Glasgow -> London -> New York -> stay overnight -> Tokyo -> Taipei
* I fell asleep afterward on that flight and woke up - twice! - from nightmares about crash landing..."

We thank Patrick for the last few months, his commitment and wish him well in his musical and personal future all the best!"
Seth Peters of Dead Horse Trauma has issued the following update about changing the venue for their upcoming "Infestation" CD release party on November 28th:
"Hey all, just a quick update on Dead Horse Trauma's CD release party in Lake View, IA. The concert has been moved due to circumstances beyond our control. Conveniently the show has been moved just right across the street. That’s right, were playing inside town hall. It will be on the second floor of the community building DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE AMERICAN LEGION. Signs will be posted so no worries on how to find the concert hall. This will be the only change to the concert, same great line-up, same great price, and a great opportunity to see the finest talent around. So know that I've explained that, let’s get down to how this took place.
"Have you ever been discriminated against because of your age or who you are? We obviously have. There was an agreement made between our booking agent and the Lake View American Legion Hall to rent out their building; the price was given, the agreement was made, and the date was set. I go visit the venue and check out the aesthetics, still no problem. Then they start seeing the posters and see the media coverage and now there's an issue. Here's what they came at me with: Issue 1.) Alcohol....to which we replied no problem, dry party, we will serve cookies and milk if that pleases you...Issue 2,) Too many people...to which we replied, ‘what is the fire marshal code on the building...’...they had the nerve to tell me they didn't know, which makes any event that they hold there AGAINST THE LAW, yet they continue to hold their own events.... so they have someone come and take measurements telling us that they would know immediately by putting the measurements into a formula provided by the fire marshal himself. Only a couple years ago there was this unheard of group of kids from the virtually unheard of town of Temple, TX that loaded up in a van and headed out to RCA Records in New York City in the hopes of being signed. RCA may have passed on the then Passerby, but it wasn’t very long until Octane Records signed the band and Flyleaf was born. Their second full-length album, "Memento Mori," has just hit stores and expectations for this group that has experienced what can only be called a whirlwind of success are high. I recently spoke with Flyleaf bassist Pat Seals about "Memento Mori" and the history of this small-town Christian band, and discovered that not only is he very down to earth, he may just be sitting on a budding career as a comedian.
