It has been announced that Roadrunner Records, one of the industry's longest running metal and hard rock labels, has now been fully purchased by Warner Music Group. Warner had previously bought 73.5% of the company in 2007. An internal memo from label founder and CEO Cees Wessels announcing the changes, as appearing on Billboard's website, can be read below:
"Since joining the Warner Music family, we have enjoyed some of our greatest creative and commercial successes as a label. Most importantly, we have retained our unique identity while also expanding our horizons, thanks in part to the tremendous expertise and experience we can tap into as part of the Warner Music family and the relationships we have built with our Warner Music colleagues around the world.
"I am very proud that Roadrunner is now a fully-fledged stable mate of such iconic labels as Atlantic , Warner Bros. Records, Elektra, Asylum and Rhino, and I believe that we are in this position thanks to our team’s hard work and consistently original approach over the years. The vast majority of our staff around the world will experience little or no change to their roles.
"However after carefully reviewing our operations, we have decided to transfer the support functions across to our Warner Music colleagues in some territories. This is not an easy process to undertake, but we believe that, by making these changes, we can take Roadrunner to the next level by focusing our resources on marketing our existing line-up of acclaimed artists as well as discovering the stars of tomorrow."

Finnish symphonic metal act Turisas has set "Stand Up And Fight" as the title of its forthcomingn third album. The new record will be released through Century Media Recordsin North America on February 8, 2011.
Turisas frontman Mathias "Warlord" Nygard commented on the album by saying:
"After a 16-month break from touring, focusing fully on the work on our third album, I'm happy to tell you that we're DONE! The workload has been enormous, and at times I've wished I'd known better, formed a punk rock band and kept things simple! But to achieve real progress, you really have to dig deep and see what you're made of. Take bites so big, you almost choke. We've stayed true to our ideology of releasing music only when we have something new to come out with, not repeating ourselves or just copying what we've done in the past to feed the market. Now that we're done with studios, we're all extremely excited to get back on the road again, and as our latest visit to North America is long overdue, coming over in January with Cradle Of Filth is something we're all very much looking forward to. We had a great time touring with them in Europe in 2009, so this should be killer! Now we only have to figure out how to play these new songs!"

KillWhitneyDead has issued the following announcement about the band's upcoming album and lining up 2011 tour dates:
"Well, since KWD did not tour this summer it's been slow moving for us here in camp KWD, but I am happy to report that KWD have been working on our (long overdue) new album, Ever Thine. Ever Mine. Ever Ours. Progress has been slow, but it's coming along.
"Aside from that we have also begun a different release to help get new creative juices flowing again. KWD is hoping to have a special brand new EP package release for Valentine's Day. Yes, the holiday that everyone loves will now be ruined by KWD! We are currently discussing doing a special package deal of 7", CDEP and shirt. We hope to have 2 new songs and a cover song for everyone to enjoy while we continue to work on the album. Stay tuned for more details as the come available.
"So, there has also been talk of a tour this coming summer. We aren't sure if it will be full US or not. Timing is critical for us and we may only be able to do 3 weeks this summer. So if that becomes the case we will be only hitting some of our favorite spots to see our friends again (maybe for the last time, who knows). We do have a new line-up consisting of past and current KWD members, so it should be an interesting twist in our history as a band. Plus, it was time to shake things up a bit."

Northern Ireland metal band DARKEST ERA has recently completed work on their forthcoming album, "The Last Caress of Light," and have issued the following update:
"It is with great pleasure that we announce we have finished work on our debut album; to be titled The Last Caress of Light. The album is a work of dark, stormy, epic heavy metal that we are proud to release upon the world. Chris Fielding did a fantastic job in capturing the Celtic atmosphere of our songs while bringing out our heavy metal influences from bands like Warlord. We are very excited about it" comments vocalist Krum. Guitarist Sarah Wieghell adds; "It has been an incredible experience recording our debut album for Metal Blade, the songs came out better than even we were expecting. I think we've made a really strong record to be proud of, I can't wait for people to hear it!"
British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden has announced that they will be embarking on a headlining tour of the United Kingdom next summer. This will be the final leg of the band's "Final Frontier" world tour.
Speaking on the tour, bassist and founder Steve Harris commented: "Everything in the Maiden camp has been so full on these last five years or so that we haven't travelled around the UK to play for our home fans for almost that long. These fans supported us by coming to Twickenham Stadium, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Download and more recently Sonisphere so we thought we should get off our backsides and do the travelling this time and get round the country to see them all. We very much look forward to playing all four home countries and a couple of places we haven’t been for a very long time, Aberdeen and Belfast! And playing the O2 gets us as close to the East End of London where Maiden started off than we have been for many a year, probably since the Ruskin Arms! All in all l think this is going to be a very special series of shows and a wonderful way to end this whole world tour. We intend to take the full stadium show into the UK arenas and fit everything we possibly can into each venue. The set list will be different to this year’s tour. Of course we will play more songs from the new album and some other recent material, but we intend to include a healthy dose of older fan favourites too for those who haven’t seen us before, plus a spectacular light show and stage set, not forgetting, of course, …Eddie!"
The tour dates are as follows: More...
